Gray Tree Service

Rick Gardner, the owner responded to my call quickly, came out promptly & provided me with a proposal on the spot. He was very knowledgeable, informative and professional. I chose another vendor based on price alone. I would definitely consider using Gray Tree Service in the future.

Overall experience a bit disappointing.

I called for an appt. and they called me back. they then went to look at tree to be trimmed and called me back w/an estimate. I agreed to the price and two days later they were at house to do the job. did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

I had gotten a quote from another service that was more than I wanted to pay. I purchased an Angie's list big deal, paying $200 for $200 worth of service, thinking that even if Gray quoted the same, I'd be saving the $200. I sent Gray an email and got a phone call back the next day. He'd come by to see the trees and gave me a quote for $400. So the big deal would pay for it. Excellent! He said that they'd do the work within the next 4 or 5 days. The crew showed up one morning and made very quick work of the trees. There were at least 6 guys, so while some were cutting, others were chipping, picking up small branches, sweeping, etc. I asked them to save the last trunk for firewood and they even "sliced" it up for me. They did a pretty good job of cleaning up, though the stump grinder does throw a lot of waste around. My one complaint was that I'd asked them to call me the day before they'd be coming out. They didn't do this. Therefore the downgrade on punctuality. I mentioned this to the owner and he apologized.

He showed up as scheduled. Neatly and efficiently trimmed the trees and removed depris. The spraying has to be done twice, 2wks apart. I first used his services in 2011, then last year, and have him schedule for May this year.

Have used them twice to remove "garbage trees" and to thin out/prune several large trees on my properrty. They come quickly, are easy to contact. They're actually rather amazing. They send a crew of about eight guys who swarm onto the property acting like a well-trained military "black-ops" squad and finish the job VERY quickly. Guys swinging from trees with chain saws, cutting off branches, other guys carrying the material from the tree to the shredder in the street. A sight to see. Almost worth the price just to see them in action.

This experience was amazing. Rick came out on Saturday morning and gave us a quote. He called us the next day and said we were scheduled for Tuesday am. The crew of 7 showed up on time. They were scheduled at 8. They were set up and working by 8. The tree in question had a lot of bad branches and was very tall (more than 4 stories). About a third of the tree hung over out house. Another third hung over the neighbors' house. We had already lost two big chunks of it, last summer and this winter, so we were very concerned with it's structure. Their attention to safety was phenomenal. The two guys up in the top of the tree would move one foot at a time, adjust one safety rope, adjust the other rope, adjust the rope on the tree, check the ground, do a directional cut, check the ground again, check with the rope guy on the ground, then cut the branch. They did that for every. single. cut. The crew worked well together. They were all careful with their equipment. When someone used a shovel or a saw, it got put back in one location. They didn't leave things all over the yard where they could trip someone. They worked continuously to chip and remove branches and logs. One of the guys went up on the lower roof and blew all the sawdust and tree bits off and cleaned out the gutter there. They moved all my outdoor pots and furniture out of the way beforehand. They blew off the deck, sidewalks and driveway when they finished. They raked the entire yard after the tree was removed. Quite frankly, it looked better than when they arrived. Lastly they ground out the stump and all the surface roots they could find. And, they filled in all the holes the falling pieces of tree created! The guys were pleasant to each other and used a minimum of cussing. Though I'd swear too if someone reassembled my chainsaw wrong. (I have nothing against swear words in general, but I'd rather not listen to it for several hours while people are working at my house.) All of them were working the entire time. They were incredibly efficient, but no one rushed. I believe they charged a fair price for the service. As I said, it was a big tree in a difficult spot. I gave them a B because it was a lot of money to lay out at once, though they were willing to work with me on a payment plan. I will definitely use Gray Tree Service again. And I will recommend them to anyone who asks.

I wasn't home. Didn't meet any one. It did seem expensive but they did a lot of work.

The company responded immediately and delivered a detailed list of tasks that would be performed. The original date set for work was rescheduled to an earlier date due to weather conditions at another site. The crew performed the work in an professional manner. All debris was picked up and we were very satisfied with the tasks performed.

I got in touch with Gray's because of all the fabulous reviews they had gotten and they were really nice but just too pricey for our budget.

I have used them before and I expect to have him any day now again. He just calls me every spring to remind me that I need to have this tree taken care of. He comes out whether I'm home or not and leaves an invoice in the mailbox. My tree looks beautiful. Just the fact that he calls me and reminds me without nagging is much appreciated. I have not enquired price with anybody else but it is very satisfactory. I can't think it would be any less expensive anywhere else. I very seldom see them doing their job but it gets done in my grape apple tree blues. I would hire this man again and I would recommend him to anybody. When we say our grape apple tree is looking mazy, he makes sure that doesn't happen again.

He came out for an estimate to remove some branches from a tree. The estimate came in much higher than others so we went with another company.

I emailed pictures of trees marked up with what I needed services. They want to do the right thing and take care. Tree trimming was good.

I spoke with one man on the phone but met with his father. His father did not realize we had an Angie's List deal and had difficulty advising what we could do for the value of the deal. We were not interested in paying more since we did not know the quality of their services. While the meeting was slow-going, the work was professionally done.

The whole process was quick. Every man had a job. The cleanup was great. They even moved the trampoline back to its original place once they were done.

I had purchased two coupons as part of a Big Deal, back in the fall. They were valid through 3/17/13. Due to a heavy work schedule and some healthcare appointments, I was late contacting them. I contacted them in early March. I called to schedule the work. The owner assured me he would honor the coupons, even if the work could not be finished by the 3/17/13 deadline. He then set up an appointment to come out and see the work I needed to be done. His foreman came out several days later and gave me an estimate on the work. I accepted the estimate. He told me as soon as the weather broke, they would be out. If i wasn't home the would leave me a bill. They arrived this morning and went right to work. Before leaving, he showed me the completed job and made sure I was happy with the job. He gave me a bill and told me I could mail a check or pay now, that it was up to me. I chose to pay by check on the spot. I would definitely use them again.

Professional, worked with me on the services and the costs. Would highly recommend them.

Gray's Tree Svc. brought a large crew and were done veryquickly. They wore all their safety gear and all looked comfortable performing this work. I was very pleased.

Everything was okay. I had no complaints. But it kind of left me cold. It was neither bad nor good. They came and they did the trees. I asked them to trim two Parkway trees and they only trimmed one. I told them they forgot the other one and they said they only gave me a quote on one. I told them I had said the Parkway trees, not the Parkway tree. So they did trim it. They were responsive, but I had to stay alert. They did trimmed everything and they were clean and took everything away. You can't hold a company responsible if they were just not personable. They were business like.

.Gray Tree service did a very good job for us. They came out and they did actually more than what they said were going to do, and they did an excellent job. They pruned a lot of trees on our property which is a large property with a lot of old oak and maple. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very prompt

I bought 2 Big Deals for tree service, guessing how much I would need. Scheduling was quick and the job done when promised. Except for noticing the branches were trimmed, I could not tell they had been here -- they cleaned up so well. I did have a question about the work that was performed and had several back and forth voice messages with Rick Gardner. I think he was out of town but eventually he came back to inspect the work but I never had a face-to-face conversation with him. It took awhile to get a response about this, thus the "B" grade for Responsiveness and Punctuality. I did not rate the price because I had nothing to compare it to.

They removed and ground the stump of an approximately 50 foot dead spruce and trimmed some other trees for me. They did a great job.
