Everyone I spoke with at First Fence was extremely polite and helpful. All my calls directly to the company were answered promplty by friendly associates. The Sales rep that came out to measure our yard was nice, and took his time to make sure I was comfortable with all aspects of the fence all the way down to the nails they would use. The day of our actual installation was one of the coldest days of the year. The crew arrived on time and worked all day in the freezing temperatures. They completed the entire job in one day. The fence looks wonderful. We have gotten numerous compliments from our neighbors.

Randy came out to check out the yard and give me an estimate. He was very nice and very professional, but he gave me a real "sales pitch" which I was not interested in. He talked too much. He gave me the estimate at the same visit. It was very close to the price I paid the company I went with. I would recommend this company if you don't mind the sales pitch.

Response from First Fence of Georgia
Our apologies to the Angie's List member. We clearly were not sensitive to her preference to just have a proposal for the fence installation, without a lot of extra information. Our Estimators are experts, with respect to fencing and fence installation issues. They are sometimes too focused on communicating all of the information that they think a prospect needs to know. We try not to overwhelm our prospects with more information than they want to hear, but in this case, we missed the mark. We appreciate the feedback and are using this as a "teachable" moment, to improve the way we do business.

I purchased this house and the gentleman they sent came with me and told me what I needed to do to the house. He gave me a really nice proposal which was detailed. He broke it down all very well. I wanted to go ahead with it, but I am talking to my children and they feel it is going to too much of a yard to maintain on my own since I am disabled. We decided to cut it back. He did not have to come back and re-measure for me. He just cut it back to what was manageable for me and got me the price rather quickly. He put the fence according to my specifications in two days. It did not take much time to do it. They were very good. I rate them high overall. They made sure I was happy. There was nothing bad about this whole experience. I was very pleasantly surprised. The quality of their work was outstanding. They cleaned up after themselves and did not leave anything on the ground. They did the cleanup very nicely. I will definitely use them again in the future.

This was a big investment and I was happy with the fence. The materials used were high quality and the crew was very skilled and professional. My dogs appreciate the extra room. With the fence in place they can roam all over their yard. Howard was my salesperson and he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He helped me select the style of fence and options. The office staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I would use this company again!
Description of Work: Had the back yard fenced. The property was nearly a half an acre. The fence style is a crossbuck rain fence with wire in 5' height.

I considered two fencing contractors who visited and one of them was First Fence of Georgia. Their sales presentations were both very good and they were very professional. I chose First Fence of Georgia instead of the other company because they had a greater number of positive reviews on Angie’s List. I was satisfied with the work that they did and it met my needs. I spent $1057 for their services. I looked for fencing on Angie’s List and also another place and First Fence of Georgia was listed in both places. I didn’t shop around enough to say whether they were very expensive or not, but they were about the same as their competitor was. So, I figured that they can’t be out of line compared to the other company that came out. There was just one thing that I thought that the sales person from the other fence company that came out did better than the one from First Fence. That sales person persuaded me to change my plan from a 10 foot wide gate with two doors each being 5 foot wide. He convinced me that I should get the 8 foot wide gate with each door being 4 foot wide. The reason with the smaller width of the door is that each door would be able to be closer to the ground without a gap at the bottom compared with a wider door so that it would hug the contour of the ground more accurately. I thought that was important. At first I wanted the widest gate, but then I thought that I could get by with the narrower gate and take advantage of it hugging the ground more accurately. This was something that the sales person from First Fence didn’t mention to me. When I told him I wanted a 10 foot wide gate, he said okay and he said he would get a 10 foot wide gate. However, I was impressed with the guy from the other company who was able to convince me that it would be actually better because of the uneven contour of the land that the 4 foot wide door would be better. However, the guy from First Fence did everything I asked him to do.
Description of Work: First Fence of Georgia installed a chain link fence for me towards the end of November. The yard already had a fence on three sides like the back and each side. All they did was that they completed the fencing on the fourth side and they connected it to the back of my house. So, the backyard is completely fenced now. The part that they did was the front portion of the fence. It needed some fencing on either sides of the house. It had about 10 feet on one side and about 18 feet on the other side including an 8 foot wide double gate with two doors of the gate which are each 4 feet wide.

The crew had 4 people and they showed up promptly at around 8:30am. The sales rep said it would take ~5 hours but they were there are almost 12 hours. The back fence was hard to do since it was at the top of a slop and not easy to get their footings down. The double gate was tricky to line up. Since they cut all gates on site, the odd size single gate fits perfectly. :-) The 2 side sections are saddle top -- the saddle were not perfectly cut but good enough for me. The only thing negative was the type of latch they use which leaves a big gap between the gate and the post when gate is shut, so I asked them to nail a piece of wood on the post to block the gap - problem solved. I had my landscaping crew scheduled for late that afternoon to finish the sow along the fence. but since the fence took longer to finish, the 2 crews kind of get into each others' way. Both crews were Spanish speaking, so instead of me in the middle in English, I asked them to talk to each other directly to plan their work around - another problem solved. I waited for a month to check the fence for problems -- 2 pickets cracked and 1 picket was nailed tilted. I called First Fence and scheduled the replacement under warranty. One guy came out yesterday (11/15) and fixed all the problems for me. He even checked the entire fence to make sure we didn't missed any other problems. They won't replace cracked posts, but I don't think any other contracts would anyway. Overall -- I am very happy with the experience and the result.
Description of Work: I obtained quotes from 3 different contractors and First Fence was the lowest. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and patient as I wasn't sure where I wanted the single gate. The quote was very detailed and they have the best warranty -- 10 yr picket replacement warranty, Lifetime warranty against damage due to fungal decay or termites, and Lifetime workmanship warranty. The work comprised of 3 separate sections: (1) tore up the old 82' fence in the backyard and build new one closer to the property line, (2) replace 12' section at one side of house with a 8' double gate, (3) tore up old fence on the other side of the house & build new one with a single 3-1/2' gate. All board-on-board. I called them back to schedule the installation after I received the approval from the HOA. They required 1/2 down payment for material.

Originally, I was very unhappy with this company. Their response to me was not acceptable and I issued a report on it. HOWEVER, the company responded to the report, apologized for the customer service dissatisfaction and asked how they could make it right. They went out to the property, bid the job and even matched the lowest bid that I had in order to obtain the work. They arrived on time and had the fence (almost a 1/2 acre) up within 5 hours. A full crew was on hand. There were a couple of bad boards, they came back out replaced the boards within 2 days. I'm VERY happy with two things about this company. They recognized a wrong and bent over backwards to make it right and their workmanship is beyond reproach. Everyone has a bad day as the saying goes and this company recognized that and did what I do in my business .... "make it right". Congrats to First Fence staff and management for doing the right thing AND for excellent work. Thank you! I'm very happy with my new back yard!

I was very pleased with them. They installed it in one day, their price was on the low side of the quotes that I got, and they did a good job. My dogs are incredibly happy with it! I have no complaints. I think they did a good job and they cleaned up well. My neighbors called up because the fence showed up while they were at work. They didn’t bother anyone and it was done quickly.

First Fence installed a 5 foot, shadowbox fence with a positive arch. We used 6x6 pressure treated pine posts and cedar boards. They showed up on the correct day and my husband enjoyed speaking and working with the guys that were on site. I do think it is important that the homeowner is available to make sure the fence is placed correctly and at times it was helpful that my husband was around to answer a few questions. The fence turned out beautiful - a great addition to our yard. Their quote was not the cheapest but wasn't the most expensive either. We paid more for some extras but we are glad we did. We've worked with a lot of contractors lately that have been unimpressive and it was nice to have something go so well.

We received 3 estimates from 3 companies offering similar products. The rep from First Fence was very knowledgable and patient as we tried to figure out one section of our property line. The fence was scheduled to take 2 days. A crew of 3 guys showed up the first morning. My husband walked the proposed fence line with the main guy referencing the drawing the rep made. We had an issue. In planning one section, the crew cut half of two of our neighbors bushes, THEN came to get me with questions because the drawing was not the same as what they understood. Two posts had already been placed in concrete at this point. Not to get into the details, but the posts had to be moved. What annoyed us was that the next day we got a call from the rep, with a bit of an attitude, about making sure that the remainder of the job was 'clear' so they did not have another issue. I took offense to the call and tone of the call as it was clear from the drawing and my husband's walk through, where we wanted it to be. The job took 2 - 1/4 days. The final day was just installing the caps and finials. The crew left and we did not hear from First Fence for several days until I called asking if someone comes out to review the job as we had a few issues we wanted to go over. One of the managers did come out and walked the fence with us. He agreed there were several places that needed adjustment. Most noticeably was the fence with the gate at our driveway. it was not straight. I was surprised that they left it like that. They left various small aluminum pieces and screws on our driveway after the second day, which we could have driven over. In addition, the crew cemented our irrigation piping in that area, which has required some work on our part. The second gate at the bottom of our property was not placed correctly either. The drawing VERY clearly indicated how it should look. The end result had our fence a good bit on our neighbor's property. Luckily they are very accommodating and we worked through it. The changes we requested, mainly making the fence line more continual (it was choppy in some spots) were completed. The man who came out to review the work initially had committed to getting us a quote on some longer fence pickets, but we never heard back from him. We had no follow-up from First Fence after completion of the adjustments to determine if we were satisfied. Finally, although the crew leader and crew seemed knowledgable, communication was not great. The crew leader was very agreeable and polite, but I almost felt like he was just nodding in agreement with what I would say. I don't think it was necessarily a language barrier. When the crew had to come back to make the agreed upon adjustments, the crew leader had a bit of an attitude with my husband. That was the final blow for us to not recommend First Fence to our family and friends. Although the quality of the fence and the work seems good, the job was not handled as it should have been. I am a bit disappointed. I now think we should have gone with Allied Fence. The fence looks good and is doing what we needed it to do (keep the dogs from running the neighborhood).

The proposal was professional and the materials were also professional. The install was timely and the crew did exceptional work in a timely manner. Cleaned up after themselves. The pickets were cedard and the gates are all cedar. The fence looks very nice. The gates (3 of them) open and close smoothly. Picket replacement warranty was a plus as well - no one else offered that that we spoke to. I would highly recommend. Price was competitive as well as you will see. Great job and well worth the $$'s.
Description of Work: We needed to replace our existing 4ft wooden fence and extend the back portion of our fence so our fenced in yard would be much larger than what our old fence provided. They kept some posts in place and also needed to install new posts where we extended the fence. They cleaned up and hauled old materials away. Also took down the back wall of our fence where we pushed back our rear fence line.

It went very well. The gentleman who came out to do the estimate was very knowledgeable. What I liked about him was the fact that he was explaining me about different types of wood. He also informed me about the new type of pine that's coming out and there is a lot limited warranty on that pine. It is a red pine. He recommended the yellow pine because it had a lifetime warranty on it. He was very responsive and he was excellent. He was here ahead of time to help us out which was great. He was very professional. We have to wait to see how the work goes, and whether we do decide to choose him based on price. Based on his personality and helpfulness I would recommend someone to get an estimate from him. I would decide to use his services based on the price that he quotes. Update: A crew of three men arrived at 8:00 a.m. to put up the fence. They were done by early afternoon. We only had to have one side of our yard and the two front sides fenced in. They cleaned up well after the work. They installed three gates (one was free). We had a drive through gate installed for our trailer. There were a couple of boards that were warped. I called and they had the crew come back two days later and replace the two boards. So far we've had no problems. We haven't stained it yet as we have to wait a couple of months to let the wood dry out.
Description of Work: First Fences of Georgia came in this morning, to give me an estimate for my fence. It was for yard fencing. Update: Fence was installed. It took approximately 2 weeks from the time we got the estimate to when they were able to install the 6 ft. privacy fence.

I am on the board of my condo. I had them come out and bid and they were very good. I was very pleased with the person that came out, his manner and all of that. It was just that we needed to do several bids and their price was not quite as attractive. I have called them again for a project. They were excellent in the whole manner of coming out, doing the inspection and doing the work. The job went just fine. Everything was done very well. I would use them again.

We have met with our customer to review all of his issues and concerns. After investigation, we determined that the customer was satisfied with the fence that we installed for him, but that there had been some communication issues during the installation process that were not handled to the customer's satisfaction. We have apologised to the customer and encouraged him to contact the Company's Management directly, should there be a need for any future follow-up activity. We appreciate all customer feed-back. It provides a measure of our performance and a roadmap for improvement. David Humphrey Vice-President, Sales
