Chris Akonom actually come out more than once to discuss the best way to proceed with the trimming on our ear tree. Chris and his crew came on time the appointed day and removed the two pine trees and did a thorough clean up. It stared to rain while cleaning up the pines so another day was set for trimming the ear tree. The trimming on the ear tree took the crew the better part of a day. Chris was very careful to rope off everything and it was all carefully lowered so as not to damage the roof or any landscape plants. I am very happy that the ear tree was carefully trimmed and still retains a nice canopy.

I am extremely pleased with the job that Chris and his guys did. We had needed over a dozen large palm trees trimmed for quite some time. Chris was very friendly and knowledgeable. His price was competitive too. The trees look so much better now than before. My only knock on Chris is that once we agreed on the work, his quickest availability was 2 weeks later. Nonetheless, it got done and it looks great.

I just moved to the area and had a dying 40 foot pine tree that spanned 2 of my neighbors yards. I wanted to go with an experienced,licensed and insured tree removal service. I got two estimates. The first guy came out and estimated $2300.00 then 2000.00 then 1900.00 (He kept calling me and reducing the price...) Chris from AKTree came and quoted me 1600.00 then said oh and I have a 10% off Coupon on Angies List so it would be 1440.00. We scheduled for the following week and Chris and the crew showed up ready to go. Since I have two timid dogs I left the house and returned when Chris called to say he was almost finished. Upon arrival we walked thru and everything was done and the yard was all cleaned up and all of my plants were intact. I am totally satisfied with the professionalism and the experience as a whole.

For insurance reasons, I had to have the tree limbs above my roof removed. Chris was very knowledgeable about the situation and how to trim the tress to protect my roof while not damaging the trees. He was very good with returning phone calls and keeping me updated with when he could do the job. He showed up when he said he would, did an excellent job removing the limbs, and cleaned up all the debris. My house looks so much better without the limbs hanging over it and it helped my flat roof by allowing more wind and sun to get to it so it doesn't pool as much water. Chris and his men went above and beyond in taking care of my tree problem. I almost never write reviews but the service I received was so wonderful, I want others to know how extremely happy I am with AK Tree Service and I definitely would recommend them to anyone.

I am extremely pleased with Chris' responsiveness to my calls and his ability to follow through with what he promises. He met with me for a free estimate while I was still under contract for my house. The home is surrounded by large, beautiful live oaks and the trees are the main reason we love the property. He barely had time to introduce himself before he ran right over to the live oak in the front and gazed up at it. I knew we picked the right guy - it was obvious he loved the trees as much as I did and wanted to do what he could to keep them healthy. Chris spent over an hour with us that day explaining all of our options and helping us to devise a plan of work within our budget for maximum benefit. He called me a week later and told me he felt like he may have come in too high on price and wanted to take another look at the yard. That is an amazing and honest thing to do. He did come down in price after a second look and never complained when the job ended up being more work than he thought. For a price comparison, I contacted another tree service on Angie's list. My toddler and I waited in the front yard for over an hour on a Sunday morning and the guy was a no call / no show. My father got an estimate from him the next day (while I was at work) which took all of 15 minutes. His price was about $1000 less because he convinced my father that our diseased laurel oaks would live for another ten years if we just "lopped" off the tops. His reason for the no call / no show was that he unexpectedly got a spot on a fishing charter that morning. I can't imagine there was no one else he could have delegated to provide me the courtesy of a phone call explaining he couldn't make it. I won't hire a contractor who thinks nothing of wasting my time. Chris and his crew were polite, worked hard, and finished the job faster than anticipated. He allowed us to save money by leaving the wood for us to stack - it only took an hour and we've got plenty of firewood for use or sale. He even made sure the bird nest in the dead live oak was not that of a woodpecker (european starlings had taken it over). If it had been, he planned to relocate the top of the tree to save the nest. This man knows his trees and he cares about how they're pruned. He was a pleasure to work with and I can't wait to call him back next winter to do the rest of our property.

My job entailed the removal of a HUGE brazilian pepper tree (aka "The Tree Monster"), stump grinding and removal of all debris. Received a prompt reply to my initial phone call. Chris from AK Tree Service came out to the house the next day to look at my yard and work up a written estimate. Chris' estimate was far and away the best price compared to the other estimates I received. Since I was in no huge rush and he had several other large jobs already scheduled, we arranged a start date two weeks from the date I made my decision. Chris & his crew not only showed up on the date agreed upon, but they were there first thing in the morning ready to go. They got the job done much faster than I expected. All in all a very good experience. Chris was extremely polite and knowledgeable. He and his team were fast and thorough. I would definitely use this company again and am happy to recommend them to others.

This is my second time using AK Tree Service and I am still extremely pleased with the service, quality and communication I received. Chris kept me informed when he was available to come out and perform the work, and even came out ahead of schedule after he had some jobs clear up. His crew was extremely efficient, courteous, and most importantly, CAREFUL! They take their time to ensure things are done safe and that is a big plus when you are having two 50 foot trees removed right next to your house. They did a complete clean up and removal of all the brush and wood, and left the yard just as they found it. I have referred AK Tree Service to all of my friends in need of tree work, and I highly recommend giving them a chance to earn your business. His prices are more then fair, and for this current job, AK was approximately $800 cheaper then my second best estimate at the time. I have nothing but high regards for Chris and his crew; they will take care of you and treat you right!

I've used AK tree service for about 3 years to trim the palm. My neighbor also has a very large oak tree with branches reaching over my roof. Chris has trimmed those back in the past and I will have him come out to trim them back again. Chris has a strong work ethic and is very knowledgeable about his line of work. My palm always looks great when he is done and the mess is always cleaned up. I would hire Chris and his crew any day for all tree trimming/removal needs. A real salt of the earth guy. Very professional. They know the business and it proved not only to be a great service but educational. Chris took the time to explain how to treat for fungus and the process of proper triming back of large living oaks. He removed some massive branches and did an exceptional job. Clean up was complete and service was prompt.

s to complete.Chris with AK tress service was with out a doubt the greatest and most courteous group that we have encountered. He gave us an incredible deal to remove our 5 Laurel Oak trees. They were extremely professional and timely. They really went above and beyond with the service that they pass on to the customer, and that is extremely rare in this day and age. For anyone to come out and remove 5 Laurel Oak trees completely, was already a large job. I received several quotes in advance and AK Tree Service blew every last one of them out of the water. If you need ANY tree work done, you will need to consider Chris and his crew (Thank you too Wes)! I have 2 more trees that will be removed in the next month and I already have AK in mind to come out and perform the work. The crew came out and did not have lift trucks, chippers, or other expensive equipment. They were a gold old fashioned tree service that actually climbed the trees to take them down. Remember, the extra costs for the equipment gets passed onto you, so consider that in your tree service searching! Chris and his crew even took the time to remove the squirrel nests and ensure that they were safe before taking down the trees. That is just an example of a group that takes pride in their jobs, and cares about the surrounding environment. Everyone at AK was very honest with their assessments of the job and kept me up to date with all aspects of the job. Due to the amount of work needed to be done, my job took a few days to complete. Some days were interrupted by weather and weekends, but Chris always kept me in the loop as to when he and his crew would be on site. If you are looking for tree trimming or tree removal, you need to do yourself a favor and give AK Tree Service a chance to earn your business. The pricing is incredible compared to others, and just the simple fact that you get incredible service in this day and age speaks for itself. I knew this big old oak has been dead for a couple of years. I don't have a big problem with cutting trees but I know my limitations. This tree was hanging over a pool cage and tall enough to hit my neighbors house. once one of the bigger limbs had fallen off and landed on my enclosed trailer I knew the tree had to be cut down before another limb lands on the pool cage. I called around and made arrangements for 4 estimates. when I called AK tree services, I left my number with somebody at the office, Chris from AK tree services returned my call within a few minutes. He showed up later that day as promiced to give me an estimate. He was punctual and personable. His estimate was very competetive with the two other estimates I got. One of the tree services I called for an estimate never showed up at all. Chris and I agreed on a price and a time to have this tree cut. Chris and an associate (sorry Atlanta) showed up on the agreed upon day to tackle this 40-50 foot oak. After supplying and signing forms releasing me from personal liability for inuries that might occur to them, they commenced cutting this tree down. Let me tell you I was impressed on how skilled these guys were in felling this tree. Chris had tied off the large branches hanging over the pool cage to the branches on the other side of the tree. When he cut the branches over the cage they looked like they were going to fall straight down into the pool, but before hitting the pool cage they made a large arcing sweep away from the cage, when they got about even with the midline of the tree the branches fell straight to the ground without touching anything but the earth. I was amazed. Chris has this tree cutting thing down to somewhere between an art and a science. While Chris was cutting the tree his co-worker was busy on the ground removing and cutting all of the smaller branches and loading them into the truck to haul away. From start to finish it took about 6 hours to fell this tree, load up the smaller branches, cut the larger pieces into 14" segments for firewood, stack these segments and rake the yard under the tree... These guys from AK tree services did an excellent job at a competetive rate for me and I would highly reccomend them........

Chris is very attentive to providing the best service possible. He gave me advice about contacting the permit department, he provided me with a written estimate, he as very fair in his price, he educated me about other trees and the causes of decay. He was cognizant of using chemicals that are safe for animals and children. He cleaned off my patio when he was done. He not only raked everything from my yard, but also my neighbor's yard! I would highly recommend him for any kind of tree service.

My husband and I have a 200 year old Grand Oak on our property. We bought our house not so much for the house, but because we fell in love with the tree! We have put off having it trimmed for years because we were so nervous about having someone unqualified trim it and harm it, potentially killing it. We have also had some of the worst service with other tree companies before, even leading us to joke that there are no sober tree-trimmers in Tampa. However, Chris from AK Tree Service, proved us wrong on all counts and delivered as-promised service at a very reasonable rate. Chris came out as scheduled and fell just as much in love with our tree as we did. He is an arborist and his passion is trees, and it shows in the way he talked about our tree. He is also knowledgable in every aspect of trees, native plants and invasive species. Chris took the time to explain the process to us and show us exactly what he would be doing. He did a superb job trimming our tree. The cuts are just as he said they would be, he trimmed a ton of branches that needed to go without leaving our tree looking "butchered." He even trimmed some of our other trees at no extra cost. We were amazed at the quality of work he did, and he cleaned up ALL OF THE BRANCHES before he left! We are grateful to Angie's List that we found such a skilled, personable and reasonably priced tree trimmer we can trust our trees with, and we highly recommend AK Tree Service. They will always be our go-to tree people!

Chris Akonom did some tree pruning and limb removal for me back in May 2012. I was happy with his work then, so I called him back again for additional work. I had the additional work done in December, because he told me back in May that he could offer better pricing during his slow months, December and January. He returned my call promptly, called me in advance to let me know he was running a little late, and performed the work well. Additionally, I like Chris' knowledge of trees, which is helpful in making decitions about the work you direct him to do.

Chris is actually an arborist; though we liked the guy a lot that submitted the other quote, he was not an arborist. The wealth of information that Chris readily shared informed us that he really knew what he was doing, and that's what convinced us to choose him to take the trees down. He's a professional at his craft, and directed his crew of three well. Chris has a great attitude and a great concern for safety, both of his crew and of our property. Before he started, he informed us of his schedule - he would be here Tuesday, had a previous appointment for Wednesday, would return Thursday, and Friday if necessary. Tuesday he arrived very early in the window he gave us of 8-9 AM, set up his equipment, and got to work on the larger sick tree. At the end of the day, only a 16-foot trunk was still standing. His crew had carried away all the debris, raked the yard, swept the neighbor's driveway, and even got the sawdust off the roof that I had noticed earlier in the day. They returned on Thursday as promised, in their time window, and took down the trunk. Afterwards, they started on the dead tree, finishing with the trim in the 3rd tree. They did not need the third day, as he suggested, and before they left, two neighbors had asked the crew to do some work for them. Chris and his crew were totally self-sufficient, never even needing to enter the house. Once again, they cleaned up all of the debris. Early on the first day, I had asked Chris to show me some mistletoe, as I could not identify it up in the tree. They left the first day without Chris mentioning it, though I did notice a couple small branches just off the porch once they were gone. Sure enough, Chris had remembered and saved a sample since the rest of the tree had been carried away. We discussed it when he came back on Thursday. I was really impressed by Chris' knowledge and work ethic. His 25+ years of experince really shows, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

We hadn't had tree work done in some time so we took some time getting bids from and meeting with some tree services we found on Angie's List and otherwise. Each in there own way was knowledgeable and we felt would do the work just fine, but we developed a rapport with Chris Akonom who very comfortable to deal with and helpful in making suggestions ... and also came in as the lowest bidder. He was punctual and did the work when and in the time frame he committed to do it. He followed up to make sure we were satisfied with his work. We are very satisfied and will use him again.

We were extremely happy with the service and quality of work provided by AK Tree Service. I rate companies on their responsiveness, their follow-up communication, their follow-thru, and their completed product. Chris was responsive and excellent in communicating with us from start to finish. The team completed the work on schedule and our tree has never looked better. I would highly recommend this company!

Neither my husband or I can climb ladders, so we needed someone to help trim our queen palms. Found AK Tree service on Angie's List and called. From the first phone call, Chris was professional, knew his stuff, warned me that he would cost more than just a kid trimming trees because he was an arborist. He agreed to come give me an estimate, no pressure. Came out and gave an estimate of $45 for each palm tree, which was VERY reasonable for what I have paid in the past. While looking, I asked him a few questions about my live oak tree, that had been cut back recently but done HORRIBLY. He pointed out some things I hadn't even noticed, said the tree was in overall good shape, but a few cuts needed to be redone, etc. He was NOT pushy, very professional and really informative. He said with my Angie's LIst discount he could do all 3 trees for 190. SUPER reasonable price. The work had to be rescheduled a few times, due to my end AND his, but he was always courteous with a phone call, never left me hanging. Was very willing to work around my schedule, even offered to do the work when I wasn't there and leave a bill, that I could pay AFTER I called him that I was satisfied with his work. Showed up on the day he said he would WHEN he said he would, did an awesome job on all three trees, cleaned up everything. Couldn't even tell he had been there. Very happy with his service and will definitely call Chris and AK Tree in the future!

Chris was very polite and prompt with all his calls as well as very efficient with job. He even set up someone to come out the same day and remove the stump and he showed up about the time Chris was cleaning up. The entire job from start to finish for both was about 3 or 3 1/2 hours... cleaned, raked and gone! Very proffessional and would recomend and/or use again!

Chris and his crew came over the same day I called for an estimate. At first, he was going to take down the limb in question right then, but once we identified another that overhung the house, he had to reschedule because it was near the end of the day and the job would require climbing with harnesses. Chris called later to schedule the job and he and his crew arrived right on time. They worked steadily for over 3 hours and removed a large, forked limb from our camphor tree without damaging the roof or deck. After that limb was down, he removed another sizeable limb for no additional charge to make the tree symmetrical. His crew blew off the deck and raked up the limbs and twigs dropped so that all that was left was some sawdust and some berries in the pool. This is the second time, but certainly not the last, that I will hire AK Tree Service to work on my tree. He and his crew are hard working and deserve your business.

The crew showed up on time and early to get started. Three guys took care of the job between 8-3. The owner Chris showed up with the crew, but had a family matter to attend to that day. He showed up at the end to check his crews work and make sure we were satisfied. We were! They took the trees down systematically and avoided damaging the roof, other trees, the house, etc. If we need more work done in the future I would hire them again.

Chris and his worker did an excellent job. He performed the work exactly as promised. Work was performed while I was at work. He waited for me to come homel, as we agreed, so we could inspect the work performed. He wanted to insure that we were completely satisfied. I asked for a couple of additional branches to be trimmed and he did so without any hesitation. I definitely recommend this company.
