Donna Vogler was terrific - apologized for being 5 minutes late - absolutely no big deal - and then worked on my computer for almost 3 hours. It froze and over-heated during the process and she told me to take the cover off but I had trouble doing this so while I was off the phone, she looked up the directions on the Dell website and when I called back she helped me with that. This is my second time using this service and I would go back absolutely

My computer was infected on Tuesday night and I called ATR on Wednesday morning. We set up a time on Thursday for them to give me a call to perform the service. Donna called me during the half hour window I was given. It took about a half hour for us to be able to give her access to my computer. After that she had access and performed a complete review of my computer. That took about another two hours - I did not have to be on the phone or computer with her during this additional two hours. After she was done, my computer was working great. I would definitely use their service again.
Description of Work: ATR performed a system clean of my computer that had been infected by malware - "ransomware".The malware was removed and I am now able to use my computer.

The pc runs great...no major repairs. The laptop still has some blue screen issues, but Donna asked for screen shots of the error message so she could do more research. I will DEFINATELY use ATR again next year for a clean up.

"cleaned up my computer" as it was freezing up at times. Added a free mal wear program. When finished had to call them back within 15 minutes as my computer wouldn't connect to my e-mail server (AOL). They apolgized and forgot to put back necessary files, which they did do then. Now computer won't download upgrades and general in poor health... still freezes at times. So just chalking it up to expecting too much and buying a new computer. Think I should have noted the words "clean" computer ( it did not have viruses and they did remove unnecessary files). But definately not worth it.

After my procrastination of several weeks I finally made the time for Spencer, the owner, to fix my desktop computer. he generously arranged a time following my schedule. it was easy. He called. I answered. He connected to my computer and approximately 3 hours later he was done. I even went to my pilates class. Before ending the session Spencer spent time answering many of my questions to help me keep my computer virus free. He cleared over 10000 viruses.And I am at liberty to call him if I have any other problems. Now my computer if like brand new. I highly recommend this company. It was very easy and straightforward to set up an appointment with Alexander for a 1-hour service in which the technician would directly access our computer remotely to diagnose and fix our problem. We always got voice mail when we called them, but they returned our phone call within the same day to set up an appointment. We described the problem in detail over the phone and was assured that a knowledgeable technician would assist us. We then set up an appointment for several days later. Note that this was NOT a computer cleanup and optimization. It was technical support of a specific problem that we've experienced. The specific problem involved running MS Outlook 2013 with Windows 8.1 on a 6-month old laptop. The problem occurred when we allowed a MS patch to Outlook. After spending hours fruitlessly searching for a solution and trying to fix it ourselves (we know our way around computers but are not computer experts by any mean), we decided to hire Alexander to fix our problem. While the technician we got was very nice and professional, he did not seem to be familiar with Outlook 2013 nor with how to set up email accounts using our ISP. He spent a lot of time doing things that we had tried ourselves, and sometime we had to tell him what to do and what didn't work. He spent a lot of time trying to reconfigure out email setup, but we kept telling him that it was not the problem, that the problem was with Outlook. He looked for solutions on the internet like we did and tried out several things, but none seemed to work. We realized that some issues are very difficult to figure out and fix, but our technician didn't seem to know much more than we did (and we are not computer professionals) and he was not familiar with the 2013 version of Outlook (he said he only had the 2010 version). When the one hour was up, we were no further than when we started. We were very disappointed but he apologized for not being able to help us, which we appreciated. The next day the technician sent us an email suggesting a potential solution. We appreciated that he followed up with us, it was thoughtful of him, but we had tried the solution and it didn't work. Afterwards, we spent many additional hours trying to fix the problem ourselves. Eventually we were able to find a solution that worked. The problem was not with our ISP nor with the way the email account was set up but with MS Outlook. We had hoped to save many hours by going with Alexander. From our initial conversation, we had thought that they had the expertise. However, as it turned out, they did not (or did not have the right person working on the issue). We realize that there is no guarantee in computer tech support, but we felt that our technician was not much more knowledgeable than we were.
Description of Work: Attempted to fix a Microsoft Outlook 2013 issue. Problem was a specific error message every time we attempted to open Outlook.

Unfortunately, we have to approach errors in a a very methodical and logical direction. Even if you tried something, we have to try it ourselves to ensure that it was done properly. In many situations, people tell us they tried this and they tried that and it didn't work and why are we trying the same thing. Then we do exactly what they said they did and it works perfectly and solves the issue. The methods used for diagnosing and chasing down issues are tried and true. The fact of the matter is that we deal with every Outlook from 2000 - 2013. We have fixed thousands of issues with outlook clients. The reality is that some exotic issues are hard to pin down. Obviously it took the member days and days of their own time to finally come to a conclusion for the issue. If we had more time we believe we could have solved it much sooner but the client would not allow more time. My technician even spent more time on his own to find more solutions to this elusive issue and emailed them to the member. I commend my technician for going above and beyond at no additional expense to the member. His actions show our dedication to our clients ... we could have easily just taken the members money they paid for our time and moved on to the next client but we didn't. After speaking with my technician about this client he told me he asked the client to get back to him if the other fixes didn't work and we would provide some more options for them. They never contacted him or called us back to tell us they were unhappy with our work.

This work was completed over a year ago. The member purchased a cleanup for his Mac. He was originally scheduled with the technician that specializes in Macs and has over 15 years of experience with them. The member missed the appointment. When he was rescheduled, he was rescheduled with another technician. All of our technicians have been trained for our Mac Cleanup Procedure and they continue to get more experience each and every week. 1 in 10 of the computers we work on are Macs. We are one of the few companies in America that support both Macs and PCs. Our experience is far more in depth than this member realizes and we hope that our Mac users will read our other reviews. Many of the reviews listed here are from Mac clients even if they don't mention what kind of computer they have in their review.

Donna called me later than the agreed upon time but she went right to work. She went through those programs/software that I wanted to keep and what she thought should be deleted. She was very thorough. It took at least 4 hours to clean and tune up my laptop. I would use them again but I just went to their website and it is down so I don't know what's up with that.
Description of Work: My laptop was acting strangely and after having problems with my PC, I decided to get my laptop tuned up and checked out. I use Norton Simon security software but was still anxious to make sure my laptop was clean. ATS remoted into my laptop which saved me the inconvenience of taking it into a computer repair store. Unfortunately, my PC was so fried that I could not even connect to the internet so ATS could not help me with my desktop.

The technician first called to get things set up. She made it all very simple for me. All of the clean-up took place via remote connection to my computer, so I could watch what she is doing. I was able to send her live messages online while the work was happening and ask her questions or point out things that I wanted her to look at. My computer had become very slow, and the clean-up improved the speed greatly. She was both friendly and professional. I would definitely use them again.

Everything went very well. The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. It took her about 3 hours to complete the process. I was very pleased with this service and would definitely use again in the future. This is so much better than having someone come to your home or having to take your computer in to be serviced. The other BIG plus is they didn't try to sell me any products. The woman called me on time to set up the remote service, and she was friendly and wished to be helpful. She worked on the computer remotely and did the clean-up while I was working on another computer, so I cannot say whether it was done well or poorly (not that I would know anyway). The computer runs no differently, and I continue to have the same problem with the computer that I have had since the first time I hired Alexander Technical Services. This is in no way the company's fault, as the computer did not shut down programs with ATS's staff as it does with me, so the woman had no means of knowing what to fix or how to fix it. Therefore, I don't really have a basis for a second review (I have already provided a review of ATS), but Angie's List insisted that I write a second review anyway.

Excellent. Spencer spent nearly four hours cleaning my pc, deleting unnecessary files thus giving me additional space; removing all of the malware and virus infections and fixed a HP application error . He was extremely professional. He called when he said he would; he told me approximately how long it would take to complete the clean up and he was 'right on the money'; and at the end of the session he went over what he had done and educated me about some simple fixes and steps that I was unfamiliar with. He is extremely knowledgeable and would not hesitate to use his company again.

The service went okay. They advertised they would do a full tune up no matter how long it takes. They did not do what they had advertised. The technician did a nice job, but I wish she would have done the full computer tune up. Scheduling an appointment was a bit difficult and it took a while for me to hear back from them.
