The technician came on time to our home and took care of the issues we were having. We feel this client is completely overreacting with his choice of grades. The customer called us and setup an appointment for the Big Deal promotion. When we tried to remotely logon to his computer, he told us it was infected with a virus and he couldn't even get the machine to boot up. This was a requirement for the Big Deal Promotion. At the time, we offered him 2 options. 1 option was for us to come pick up the machine from him and remove the virus and then perfom the cleanup he purchased. We told him it would cost him an additional $60 for us to do this. The second option was to get a refund from Angie's List for the promotion. He chose the first option. We picked up his machine, completed the cleanup and returned it to the customer. Everything was working fine when we returned the machine to his concierge. He called us 2 weeks later and said the machine was not working and that we didn’t do anything to help him. After asking some questions about the machine, we suggested that it probably needed a reinstall of the operating system because the virus' has probably done some damage to his operating system files and we would credit him the $60 he spent with us towards the reinstall. He e-mailed us that a friend in charge of IT at Coca Cola was going to look at it for him. I followed up a couple of days later with an e-mail and the reply e-mail stated that his friend looked at the machine and couldn’t get it to do anything and that he NEEDED a complete reinstall. We haven’t heard anything back from the client since that e-mail, until this report. We are always happy to help; he just needed to let us know. I am sure that Angie's List would have been happy to refund his money. I wish the client had been more amicable. We have over 50 years of combined experience in this office, support over 200 small businesses and 200 - 400 residential customers each year. We do our best to help our clients with thier problems.

My experience was terrific! I contacted them by email. I got a very prompt response and then called the office to schedule my appointment. They have a tech that lives in my area and were going to send him to the house, but I asked if it could be done remotely and that's what we did. Mr. Alexander called promptly at the time the appointment was set for and took over. He worked on it for at least 3 hours. My computer is running better than ever. He also sells computers, so when the time comes that I need a new one I am going to contact him.

This provider made two trips. One to assess the problem and take my laptop and a second to return it with a new hard-drive. He returned it within a week, which including the ordering of a hard-drive. He made sure to protect the information on the drive. The repair was successful. He did suggest that windows 7 is faster and more stable. He failed to warn me of the possible hardware and software incompatabilities. He was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. I appreciated that he kept in contact with me and spent time to answer my questions. I would use this provider again.

We hired Spencer of Atlanta Technical Resources to repair a cracked screen on our laptop. He asked us for $150 in advance to buy a new screen and quoted $60 for an hour of labor. We wrote him a check for $150. A week later he picked-up the screen and said it would take 2 days to complete the repair. After 3 days Spencer claimed he got the wrong screen from his vendor. Since he couldn?t say how long it would take to get the correct screen we asked to have our laptop back. He said, ?Laptop currently in 30 parts. Can put back together, but will still cost.? He wanted to charge us to put it back together so we could use it while we waited. He eventually did bring it back to us for free after being further delayed by his vendor. After we got it back, we were promised the screen would arrive in 2-4 days. Four days later Spencer said, ?The screen has shipped. It will be here when it arrives ... I have no control over USPS.? It arrived a week and a half later. Then he said the labor would be $90 instead of the $60 initially quoted. After discussing a time to meet to give him our laptop, he sent me an e-mail saying that he would not complete the repair and would give us the screen instead. He refused to refund the $150 we paid saying we would have to pay a restocking fee and his cost to ship the screen back to his vendor even though he chose not to complete the repair. We found a new computer repair person, Mr. Bill Lowe, who offered to fix our laptop with Spencer?s screen. Spencer asked us to sign a release authorizing him to give the screen to Mr. Lowe. We agreed to sign the release provided he let Mr. Lowe to inspect the screen and give him the receipt and warranty paperwork for it. Spencer refused. He sent us a check for $106.70 subtracting a $30 restocking fee and $13.30 for shipping. We want a refund of the additional $43.30. In addition, Mr. Lowe got us the same screen for $85. Spencer has never shown us proof he paid $150 for the screen.

First off, we are thankful that we have the opportunity to reply to the member's allegations. We did indeed quote a screen repair for the member. The price for the labor would be between 1 and 2 hours (at $60 per hour that's between $60 and $120 for labor). The price of the screen was $150. That was the price for the OEM screen with a 2 year warranty, taxes and all shipping and handling included. We ONLY purchase high quality parts for our clients, as we don't have the desire or time to complete the repair again. All said, from the time I picked up the laptop from the member to returning the part to the vendor only around 10 full days had passed. The member would like you to believe that all of this took much longer, it certainly felt like it. The day we received the screen from our vendor, I picked up the member's laptop. That evening I personally disassembled the laptop to replace the screen and found that the vendor had shipped the incorrect part. I called the client the next morning and told them about the situation (not 3 days later). The member went ballistic and starting saying I had promised this and I had promised that, promises I had NOT made. I explained to the member that I ordered the part and the vendor made the mistake, there was nothing I could do about that. The member then informed me for the first time that this repair was time critical and detrimental to his way of life. The member demanded that I repair the machine immediately. I explained to the member that I could NOT pick the part up from a retailer because the screen was from a fairly new laptop and was a special order part. The member asked for his machine back. I told him it was in 30 parts right now. If he wanted me to put it back together before we got the part, hopefully the next day, we would have to charge him for labor and delivery ($90). From this time forward the member was impatient, abusive, demanding and ridiculing. The member called and emailed so many times in a day as to be harassing. Our company supports hundreds of small businesses in greater Atlanta and 200 - 400 residents yearly as well. I was doing my best to reply to the member's numerous emails, while out servicing my other customers, from my cell phone which is why my replies were so short and to the point, as each reply showed a signature at the bottom stating that I was replying from my phone. These are the comments the member chose to post in his original complaint. I told the that we would have to conduct our communications through email from this point forward, as we were fearful that the member's demands and comments could not be followed and we needed a paper trail. I told the member that we would have the correct screen sent as soon as possible, next day if possible. The Vendor apologized and said they would send out the screen that day, over night. Later that day I got a call from the vendor telling me they did not have the correct screen in stock and it would take 14 - 21 days to get it from China. I asked them for a refund and ordered the screen from another vendor. At this point, I again apologized to the member about the delays, put his laptop back together and delivered it to the member that day, free of charge. When I ordered the screen from another vendor, I requested overnight shipping. The request confused the vendor and they contacted me saying they did not ship ANY order overnight, expect the part in 2- 4 days. 4 days later I get a call from the vendor asking me if I still wanted the screen. I told them I expected its arrival today. They apologized for the mistake and sent the screen which arrived 3 days later. In those three days, we were overwhelmed by the reactions of the client. His final demand from us was that we were to give him a discount on the part, pick his laptop up from him, make the repair and return it to him that afternoon, free of charge. When the part arrived we told that he could have the part and have someone else install it because we could not meet his time requirements. What we didn't tell him was that we could not discount the part, as we would be losing money on the transaction. Also we didn't tell him that WE DO NOT WORK FOR FREE. The member told us to return the screen. I explained that if we returned the screen, the vendor, would impose a 20% restock fee because the screen was not damaged and he would have to pay for the return shipping. The member said he didn't care and to return the part and cancel his order. We packaged the screen up for return. The next morning we get a call from a kid who claimed to want the screen. We were a little confused, as the member had not contacted us to tell us differently about returning the item. We explained the situation and told the kid that we would be happy to give him the screen if the member would sign a release. Our attorney graciously and quickly drew up a release for us and we e-mailed the release to the client. We made arrangements with the kid to meet him at a specific place at a specific time. I personally drove the 25 miles to the location and waited for the kid. The kid NEVER showed up. I called the kid and he said the member refused to sign the release and was instead preparing his own version that we had to sign. When I told the Kid that the member would have to sign the original release we sent, the member told him to cancel the order. At no time did we refuse to release the warranty information for the part or let his new representative review the part. Since the member chose to cancel his order fully knowing that the vendor would impose the cost of the restock fee and we would impose the cost of the return shipping, he and he alone is responsible for the decision to return the product. Our company issued the member a check numbered 3055 dated 9/9/2010 and sent the check to his address, as requested. The check was promptly cashed and posted to our accounts on 9/14/2010. Our business with this member is finished and we shall NEVER seek to do business with him again. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and building long lasting and trusted relationships with our customers. It has pained me that after ten years of working with our clients that there was nothing I could do to satisfy this client's unreasonable demands. I am a small business owner and cannot afford to lose money and time in these volatile economic times. I hope that you can see in my response that we tried to work with the member to come to an equitable agreement. Unfortunately, there is nothing else we can do for this member.

I was going to disconnect the computer and take it to a big box store for repair. Then I checked Angie's List and decided I'd try the internet solution. My computer was running so slow that every click of the mouse took a minute or more to generate action. Spencer Alexander hooked up remotely and as I watched he took control of my computer and in a little more than 90 minutes had it running perfectly. Mr. Alexander was friendly and polite and was happy to answer questions while he worked, plus he made suggestions for avoiding problems in the future. I liked this method not only because it was successful and I didn't have to disconnect my computer and take it somewhere, but also because I didn't have to worry about someone exaggerating the problems to try to sell me a replacement computer.

We were very pleased with the service we received from Alexander?s Technical Resources. Spencer knew exactly what he was doing and was able to get our computer to work again after we thought it was toast. We had somehow gotten a virus and my husband, who is fairly computer savvy, tried to fix it. While doing so, he made the problem worse and thought we had an error that would completely make the machine inoperable. We called Spencer who was able to get the machine working again and worked on the virus. Alexander?s Technical Services is in Atlanta and we are in North Carolina, but Spencer was able to work on the computer remotely. He spent the amount of time he said he was going to spend (two hours) and charged us $60 per hour. However, as an Angie?s List customer, he gave us a $20 discount. So our total bill was $100. Although he got our machine working again, a part of the virus remained but we were able to manage using the machine with just a little inconvenience. The next week, my husband was able to find a fix for this particular bug so now the machine is completely back to normal. It turns out this bug is very new (just a month or so old) so the malware work that Spencer performed did not address the problem completely. The other solution my husband found was able to completely correct the situation. We do not blame Spencer for this at all, as the bug is so new. In fact, without him, we would be reformatting out hard drive and spend much more time and money to get the machine to work again. Thank you Spencer, we are very grateful. We will happily use your services again in the future, if the need should arise.

This service is amazing! I called their phone number (in Atlanta, I think), and Randy called me right back and began working on my computer from his location through remote link. Although I run antivirus software, he found 41 malware files on the computer, removed them, and adjusted settings to optimize the computer performance. Now the computer works GREAT! The cost was very fair, I thought - $60/hour. It actually took a little longer than 3 hours to repair my computer, but Randy only charged me for 3 hours, PLUS he gave me a $15 Angie's List discount! Best computer repair experience I've ever had!

I called the number and told my problem to Spenser Alexander who said he could help and showed me how to turn my computer pointer over to him. He didn't ask for my credit card or personal information until he was through and the problem was solved. Afterward, I screwed up by deleting a file I shouldn't have which kept Windows from booting, I called again, and Spenser fixed the problem and didn't charge me.
Description of Work: My computer was very slow and cashed sometimes. Spenser took over the controls and deftly eliminated all the programs and conflicts that caused the prblem. It took two hours because of the time it took to delete files and reboot. He downloaded two free programs; one to clean up the computer and the other to prevent mal ware.

It went well. He told me that he could take the hard drive and maybe repair it, but due to the age of my computer it probably would not be worth it and the money would be better spent on a new computer.

Description of Work: We have three PCs on a network. All three had gotten very slow and had error messages popping up. Randy the technician was prompt, patient, thorough and very professional. He cleaned up all three computers and got us up and running again. He even worked out a new interface to an old lazer printer we had not been able to use with a new PC.

The member asked us out to take a look at an older model Toshiba laptop. Upon arriving at the client's location and running some diagnostics, we found that the client’s laptop was experiencing an immanent failure with the laptop’s harddrive. We explained the situation to the client and only charged her half a visit. We went on to fix the harddrive in an attempt to allow the user temporary use of her machine until it could be replaced. We offered to backup her data but the client said she didn’t need any data from this computer. At the client's request, we sent her a couple of quotes from Dell to replace her laptop. The client was very easy to work with and we hope that we will work with her again in the future.

My call was returned the day I called and service was performed the next day. I felt very comfortable with there service and having him in my home. Would definitely call him again with any problem.
Description of Work: After moving to Atlanta from Oregon and being connected to Comcast our computer was not operating properly. Spencer came out and spent 3 hrs gettring it to work and clean the files and any virusus it may have had.
