We sent an email to this company for service on a Sunday afternoon, and Ryan called us right back. He made an appointment for the next day and arrived as scheduled. Ryan replaced the power supply, but the first one he had was too small for our PC, so he went out and purchased a larger capacity power supply and came back within the hour. He replaced the power supply with the larger unit, but the PC still would not power up. He worked on it for about an hour and determined it was not the power supply, but very likely the mother board. He provided us with some recommendations for someone else to look at the mother board, and then didn't charge us a dime for the service call. He said if he couldn't fix it, he did not want to charge us. He was very professional and I would call him again for computer issues in the future. Wow!
Description of Work: Replace power supply, because PC was not powering up.

In today's world, this is unbelievable. i traveled to Atlanta for a technical trade show and my laptop wouldn't start up. It showed a "fan error". In a panic, I called Angie's List (I was out of my "home" area), and they gave me the top listings for my zip code in Atlanta. Called Spencer, I explained the situation and he picked up the laptop in an hour or so at my hotel, and two hours later it was fixed. he delivered it to my hotel and charged me $ 60.00. Saved my life. I can't recommend him any more highly. Super professional and the speed was like lightening. he says he does remote trouble shooting also. You can bet when I have another problem, he'll be the first i wall call from anywhere. You won't be sorry using Spencer Alexander.
Description of Work: He fixed a fan problem in under two hours. DO call him. DON'T call anyone else until you have dealt with him and given him a chance to solve your problem.

The service provided by Atlanta Technical Resources was excellent overall.
Description of Work: We had a computer completely crash and were afraid we would lose everything on it. We called Atlanta Technical Resources and Spencer Alexander, the owner, came out to our house. He was able to determine that our computer had been infected with multiple viruses and a hijacker with a root kit. Working in our home and then later remotely, Spencer was able to save our computer and fully restore ALL of our data! In addition, he helped us with some wireless printing and networking problems we were having and provided advise on anti-virus software and other questions we had. We have dealt with numerous network and computer technicians before and none were as knowledgeable and capable as Spencer. We intend to use Atlanta Technical Resources for all our future computer needs.

After installing AT&T U-Verse my e-mail asnot working properly. I first tried an on-line "tech" as suggested, and that turned out to be a nightmare. Not only could I communicate in English with the person "helping" me, but was verbally abused and overcharged...even worse, tricked into approving payment and then the so-called "fix" was not working when I hung up. I contacted Spencer at explained my problem, we made an appointment for telecon help in a couple of hours. The problem was taken car of promptly and courteously. Spencer at Alexander is a good technician who gave excellent service and obviously is trained in customer relations. It was reassuring to know the person helping me was in the area and not halfway around the world. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any computer-related problem, and their services are priced more reasonably than the other on-line services.

Donna called at the appointed time, took over my computer and proceeded to work on the problems while I watched. It appeared that the problems were real and not due to a virus or my stupidity. Donna spent about an hour on the problems. She then proceeded to clean the computer. She controlled my computer for an hour and 41 minutes and I watched every minute. I was impressed. Before she disconnected she said to give her a call if I have any problems. My computer has been working fine for over two weeks.
Description of Work: I was discussed with trying to fix my computer. Had two problems that harassed me for a month. Verizon said it was a MS problem. Since I had tried MS about a previous problem and felt I got ripped off I went to Angie's List. I called Alexander Technical Resources. I talked to Donna, described my problems, found she would take over my computer, fix the problems and do a computer clean up. She told me the cost and said there would be no charge if she did not fix both problems. We made an appointment for the following day.

There was incident about three years ago where several companies tried to repair a problem my computer which was still covered under warranty and nobody else could solve the issue but Spencer. He is my go to 911.
Description of Work: I have been using ATR for about 10 years now and have always been amazed at how this company is always able to diagnose the problem and get it fixed in a timely manner. Their level of understanding, experience and professionalism makes them the only tech support comany I will EVER use. As a native Atlantan I know many technical people and companies here and ATR is by far the best of the bunch.

The owner of this two person company and his only employee assisted me. Donna first assisted me with my HP Printer/Computer Virus issue. She did not know enough she admitted to further assist me so she passed me off to the owner, Spencer. He was rude and I have to say she was polite. However, they both did team viewer sessions over a "supposed" secure network to access my entire computer! I didn't realize until the next day after they failed to fix my computer issue because he spent the whole time putting viruses on the computer Trojans and creating a new Windows Account. Now I have suspicious financial activity on my accounts too. He system restored the computer to the wrong date. HE IS A HACKER AND SO IS SHE!! They make their company look "legit" and "big" when you call their toll free number it says if you know your parties extension or company directory....why would they need that for a two person company? For her I think it was ext 1. and for him ext. 2. I found them on Angie's list and now I am wondering is Angie's list a joke too? Don't think I may use your service again either. Sorry. But not sorry.

PLEASE DIREGARD THIS MEMBERS REPORT. I DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE MEMBER BUT SHE IS WRONG AND UNTRUTHFUL. We spent several hours working on her machine and she divulged copious amounts of personal information about her situation and all the drugs she was on. When she originally called she stated that she had no money and could not afford more than half an hour. I told her we would look at her situation. Both Donna and I spent several hours trying to help the member at no cost. When our professional and secured software could not gain access to her badly damaged computer, Donna tried to gain access with another software called Team Viewer. This was done as a last ditch effort to help the member and is only used when our secured and encrypted software cannot gain access because of major damage to the client machine. There are more people involved with our company that work behind the scenes, so please don’t think just because we are a small company that we don't do an excellent job. The client’s needs and safety are only concern. We support hundreds of small businesses and thousands of residential clients every year and our record speaks for itself. I am forwarding this Libelous and completely false report to our attorney for advice.

I sent them an email asking if they could fix my problem and about h\their guarantees. I gave them 3 ways to contact me. I have waited 24 hours and have not received any acknowledgment at all by phone, text, or email. I wouldn't ever recommend a company that can't even send a thanks for contacting, we will respond within x time frame. It can be done automatically by email (they are a computer service company) after all. **UPDATE** I read the response from the company and I am sorry about the broken ankle, I still feel that a computer repair company shouldn't have an email account that isn't checked and shouldn't have an email account that doesn't at least send out an automatic response stating a time frame estimate for a call back. I would understand if it were another type of company but computer repair? Seriously? Why , as their response stated, should I, the customer, have tried try to reach them again? Why should I have stated it was an emergency so that they would be professional enough to call back? Perhaps my computer wouldn't allow me to go back to the website to look up an alternate way to reach them, though I feel that I shouldn't have to. If they were a professional company, someone would have contacted me, Unless it is a one man operation and he types with his ankle.

Unfortunately, the member sent us an email through an account that doesn't get checked and she sent it after hours. Thursday night I broke my ankle and have been dealing with mess for the last 24 hours. I think that the customer didnt even try to phone us or email us a second time nor did she explain that her situation was an absolute emergency, I guess more important than my broken ankle. We run a very busy business and will do our best to help our clients. If for some reason we dont contcat you back, try to call us or email us again, I am sure there is an explanation.

The tech specialist was very professional and efficient. We were having some problems with our computer and after the tune up everything runs just fine now. I am not very tech savy and had some questions for the specialist. He answered them clearly, without being too technical, which i appreciated. Definately will use this company again.

I purchased the $80.00 computer tune up. I was contacted by email shortly after to set up an appointment. I was called promptly at 10:00am by Donna as per my scheduled appointment. Donna, the computer tech, explained to me what she would do to the computer. About two hours later, Donna called me back and told me what she had cleaned up on the computer and gave me preventative tips on how to viruses, trojans, etc. She also gave me websites to scan the computer for viruses, and explained how frequently this should be done. Next, a virus protection was loaded on the computer. Donna was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions. So far, the computer is running much better than it has in a long time.
Description of Work: My services were done by Donna. She removed viruses, trojans and other things slowing down the computer and keeping it from running effectively. Donna removed temporary internet files and gave me advice on how to prevent the viruses in the first place.

Overall, my experience with Atlantic Technical Resources has demonstrated their commitment to providing exceptional service to their customers. On my first contact, Donna when I asked about upgrading to new operating system, Donna was perfectly frank with me and told me that my current computer wouldn't operate well at all with this particular upgrade. I appreciated her advice and appreciated her honest assessment. When I get ready to buy my new computer, I am going to call Atlantic Technical Resources to help walk me through all the decisions about upgrades and add ons that I have to make so I get exactly what I need in a computer with no more or no less than meets my needs. I was so happy on my second contact with them when I had the "emergency." I had called and left a message for Donna (who doens't work on Mondays), but Spencer called me back within just a few minutes and he stayed on the phone with me until my problem was solved. I very much liked that I didn't have to make an appointment to resolve that particular issue.
Description of Work: This is the second time I have used Atlantic Technical Resources and I have been happy with the services on both occasions. The first service was for a general "tune-up" of my computer for which I scheduled an appointment with Donna. She spent a little over an hour servicing my computer and answering questions. The second service was more of an "emergency" and Spencer worked through the issue and resolved it fully.

I would use this company again if needed.
Description of Work: I callled and made an appointment for the next day at a specific time and they called promptly. They had to control my computer remotely for about an hour. When they were finished the PC ran better than ever with out the malware and virus.

The tech downloaded some free software that will help me keep it virus free and cleaned up in the future. It took less than an hour and I have not had problems with it since. They were professional, listened to my issues and answered all my questions without taking too much of my time. Their prices compare to a place I have used locally but the local company's repairs did not last longer than a couple of weeks.

Due to a virus, I was only able to access my computer as a guest. I contacted the Trend Micro people and spent several hours with 2 different technicians who were unable to solve the problem. I contacted Alexander Technical Resources on a Friday and Donna scheduled me for an appointment on Saturday. She called right on time and she was able to access my computer. The virus had replicated itself, resulting in at least 238 viruses. Donna spent over 3 hours working on my computer. She used a variety of programs to clean it up and repair any damage. She was able to get my computer back to its pre-virus condition... in fact, it is even better than before. Donna was extremely professional and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and when I expressed concern about virus protection, she was able to suggest free anti-virus programs that provide a double-layer of protection that I did not have before. I called back late Saturday, with another question. Donna called my back on Sunday and apologized for not calling me sooner. She was extremely conscientious and was a pleasure to work with. I work very long hours and it would have been very difficult for me to take my computer to a shop. In addition, it would have been extremely inconvenient to have been without my computer for any length of time. By working with Alexander Technical Resources, I didn't even have to leave home. I was paying an annual fee for virus-protection that failed. I now have a computer that is like new and quality, free virus protection. I highly recommend the services of Alexander Technical Resources.

it was great ... even though it didn't get fixed
Description of Work: i sent an email bu am not sure tht it got thru and feel strongly enough about spencer tht i thought id try this route i had a 4 to 5 year old laptop with some issues and set an appointment with spencer for the above date he was on time did the diagnostics and really bent over backwards to fix the issues unfortunately i think the computer was too far gone Spencer would not accept payment no matter how much my wife and i insisted what a great guy Tim and Colleen Malloy

I contacted Alexander Technical Resources via phone, and within an hour my call was returned. Spencer Alexander accessed my desktop computer remotely, and in just over an hour, he was successful in repairing a corrupt driver that took several attempts to isolate. The beginning was good: Sometime after scheduling my appointment with the instructor I tried to insert my Quicken disc thinking I should take a look at what I would be working with the next day and I couldn;'t do it. The D drive was frozen and wouldn't accept the disc..I didn;'t know what to do. I tried to reach the instructor to cancel my appointment but she had left and I spoke with someone else. He walked me through the process to free my disk and it worked! I kept the following day';s appointment. The middle -see above. The end: I will use them again
Description of Work: I received detailed instruction of computer program :"Quicken Deluxe" beginning with deleting an old, incorrect Quicken file on my computer that had to be removed before we could begin. The instructor uses a program that enables her to see my Quicken computer screen and she can move the cursur on my screen- no wasted time looking for the correct page or item - they can do it for you. Communication was by telephone. I described what I wanted to learn and the instruction was friendly, thorough, organized, and clear. The instructor did not speak with an accent.

My daughter's computer lost the ability to access the Internet. I am fairly tech-savvy, but I couldn't find the problem. Since my computer was also acting slowly and giving me various errors, I decided to call this company. I had virus protection and a firewall running on my computer so I didn't suspect viruses. I called the company and spoke with Donna, who was very vivacious and kind. I requested the $80 "best computer clean-up". I also asked Donna to help restore my network, since for some reason, my three computers were not seeing each other and only one could access my printer. Unfortunately, although she tried valiantly for three days, Donna was unable to solve my problems. The "best computer clean-up" consisted of Donna running several increasingly more dense virus scanners/repairers and a program that cleaned up extraneous files. She used freeware from the Internet to do this. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the extent of her knowledge. Because she was unable to fix the computers. She did restore Internet to my daughter's computer. But it took a ridiculously long time. And she never solved my computer's errors and crashes. Perhaps Spencer is different, but Donna did not seem to know much more than I do. She knows how to run virus programs - something I could have done myself. So if your problem is viruses and you're not comfortable downloading freeware to scan and repair your computer, I guess it's OK to use them, though in my opinion, $80 is outrageous for such a service. She charged me $240 after spending about 18 hours trying and failing to solve my problem. So I paid that amount basically to have my computer virus scanned. I ended up installing a new anti-virus program myself. If you've got anything more than the simplest problem, do not use these people. I am still getting the same crashes and errors I got before. I called a professional because I wanted someone who could do something I couldn't. Unfortunately, this was not the case with this company.

I just checked our records and it has been two months since the work was completed. This is the first time that we have heard that the member is having issues as she NEVER called us back to discuss the situation or the many options we would have had available for her. Our records show that we worked on three different computers for the member and she basically paid for qty (3) $80 Cleanups. Our records also show that we did more than 40 points of cleanup on the machine the member claims that Donna only ran “some” virus scans. I would like to take the time to re-iterate that my tech Donna has a degree in CIS, several certifications and more than 10 years experience fixing computers and please believe me when I say, I have worked with a hundred techs in my lifetime and that I personally believe that Donna is one of the most friendly and diligent technicians I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I am sure that the member does not come close to the level of education and experience that my technicians have. I spoke with Donna about the appointment and she re-familiarized herself with that particular client from our records and was able to recall several issues. Apparently the client had installed “non-recommended” software she download from the internet to control the amount of time her teen used the computer. The software was causing a myriad of issues for the member. Donna went so far as to call the maker of the software to no avail. We didn’t just sit on our hands for 18 hours when we working to solve the member's issues. Donnas’ report also shows that we removed several malicious programs containing malware and spyware from the member’s computer. The member had three computers with three different operating systems and did not make all her machines available to us of which Donna tried and failed to explain to the member. Neither her report shows, nor can she recall that the member complained of any crashing issues at the time. In my experience, over the last 25 years, if a client is having problems after paying for service, they contact us and we will take another look and put “fresh eyes” on the issues. We did explain to the member that the cleanup is just that, a cleanup. It may not solve all her issues, especially any hardware that may be damaged or going bad. We feel terrible that the member did not have a good experience with our services and that she feels like she has more experience, education and skills in our chosen industry. Had the member called us and discussed the issues with us, we would have done everything within our means to help her out, even to the extent of refunding some of her monies. Unfortunately the time has passed for us to do anything else for the client as it has been 2 months since we serviced her machines and we don’t know how long the issues have been around or what the member could have done to cause herself more issues. I have seen many instances where someone claims to be knowledgeable about computer repairs and they cause more damage than most infections could dream of inflicting. These users know just enough to be dangerous. We support hundreds of small businesses and more than a thousand residential customers across the United States, Europe and Australia every year. We would ask that, you, the Angie’s List member take this report with a grain of salt and peruse some of our other reports here on Angie’s List and have them speak to the quality, value and responsiveness that we truly try to extend to each and every one of our clients. Well done. Courteous, considerate of my time and fair in pricing.
Description of Work: They dialed in to determine why netbook froze after 10 minutes of use. After spending more than 5 hours over 2-3 days, Donna, was able to determine that no virus was found. I just had too many programs starting us during boot up. She deleted all unneeded program running and I have no problems.

I am very satisfied with this company....... Donna was on time and very, very informative........she answered questions and continued to work with and without me on the phone ......... security was good since no passwords were shared or asked for...........she ended the session, which lasted over 5 hours, by stressing that I could call back and she or Spencer would be available for any questions I had...........she made some good suggestions for maintaining the "health" of my computer and even answered some other questions I had about other equipment that I was considering adding to my system such as an external hard drive............ all very professional ............competent people........ glad I found them on Angie's LIst!

The computer was so very old , that he tried different ways to clean up the computer., he was very patient. We were so impressed that when I made a trip to visit my parents, and they were having problems with their computer, he was the one I called and he was quick to fix the problem., I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to use his services again.

While I am disappointed that Spencer could not help me recover the Windows XP installation on my PC, he did not charge me for his help. His opinion was that spending money on my eight year old PC was not wise. NOTE: My thinking is that Spencer might have been able to try other things to recover my PC, but would need to charge me for any additional time. Certain Windows XP problems can be complicated and time consuming to solve. I think Spencer was not confident he could ultimately resolve the problem. And, when people spend money but get no tangible positive outcome, they are usually dissatisfied. I have to respect thinking like that.
Description of Work: My eight year old PC running Windows XP will not boot up correctly. It displays the Windows XP "splash" screens, then displays a large moveable mouse cursor on an otherwise black screen. Spencer walked me through a routine - though not intuitive - Windows repair procedure using my Windows XP installation CD. The results were the same (no change) that I had gotten previously on my own. The process took about 20 minutes.
