My computer was operating at a very sluggish pace. I bought Angie's List offer for Alexander Technical Services to perform two hours of computer repair. Donna did this by remote access. She found that for some reason more than two million empty files had been created on my computer. She removed these. Since there were so many bad files, it took many hours to remove them, but in the end they were all removed. With the other clean-up work Donna performed, my computer now operates normally. ATS charged me an extra hour beyond the Angie's List price, which I felt, considering the time spent, was very reasonable. Two days later Spencer came to my house to attempt to move my word processing files from the 1991 computer to my present Windows Vista set-up. My son, who is an engineer, had tried to do this for me and failed. Spencer was at my home for more than four hours, and he worked very hard during that time. It was very tedious work, but in the end he succeeded in moving the old data to my new computer. He was about 95 percent successful. He moved all except those files which had become corrupted. I was very pleased with his work and his expertise. The $400 fee included both Donna's work to clear the computer and Spencer's to move the files. I will certainly use them again if I have computer problems, and I highly recommend their services.

After I found out that Angie's list provided them a wrong phone number for me, everything was fine. Angie's list will not let me correct the phone number they have listed. They explained that they had been trying to reach me, I verified in my account that the phone number listed was wrong, then we worked together great! Highly recommend this service. I run a pretty clean computer but she found 5 instances of malware and a few other less than safe sites that had hooked into my computer. I will call them again.

This company is awesome! I've been wary about using remote services in the past but couldn't find someone locally to help in the time I had. Rapid Connect responded to my initial request quickly, then scheduled and completed my work promptly. My tech Donna was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I was very comfortable giving her remote access to my computer and was delighted with the results! I estimated my time of service so it is not completely accurate. I had services completed within the last two months. I had a virus on my computer and Donna came out to my house to fix it. She was running late but I am ok with that, it happens. I also had a part missing ( cover for the computer) and she said she would order it and get back to me. She never did even though I placed a call into her to ask about it. Then I recently had another problem with some kind of virus that she fixed before and I called and spoke to Spencer and he said he would relay the message to her and she did not call me back and I still havent heard from her. My guess is that this company does good work, probably has grown very fast and they cant get to all their customers. Maybe a little over confident. It is very irritating. I wish providers would appreciate the customers. Who wants to chase after any business with a check. They can respond with whatever comments they wish but the bottom line is this- they didnt repond and they dont deserve the money I would have paid them. I am giving my business elsewhere.

I purchased the tech support because I didn't want to make a mistake correcting the issue. My wife handled the entire procedure with the technician. I thought the experience would make her more comfortable with troubleshooting Outlook and without me "breathing down her neck". She troubleshot with the technician. She said he was helpful and polite. She reported that he troubleshot for the entire paid time and even contacted her to see if the the reload of the program worked. The issue I have is that they accomplished nothing. She mearly has commented that she will "live with" the issue. The main reason I hired them still exists. I am shocked that the company just left the problem remaining and with clear conscience took our money. Money spent was reasonable IF there was results.
Description of Work: Troubleshot my wife's computer. Her sister had used her computer to check her email. This wiped out my wife's contact list on Outlook express.

Our records show that we attacked several different issues with this members computer. They only paid for a (discounted) hour of our time and didnt want to pay us any more. Very well, from the initial call to the work being completed.
Description of Work: My daughter's laptop quit working and Spencer was able to identify the problem and also informed us the laptop was under warranty. He also recommended Dell should take care of the problem due to the warranty. He then retrieved all of her schoolwork from the harddrive, so that if the laptop could not be saved by Dell, she would not lose anything. Spencer has also worked on my home computer on two different occasions and each time repairs were made in a timely manner and at a minimum cost. I made my appointment with Donna, who was very pleasant and helpful. My appointment got scheduled for a couple of days after I called. Spencer called me exactly on the scheduled time. I signed him onto my computer after telling him I knew nothing about computers. My lack of computer expertise did not matter as he did all the work and talked me through anything I had to do. A lot of the time was spent doing a malware check. I'm not sure all what he did but my computer is up and running smoothly. Spencer was really nice and didn't make me feel 'stupid' not knowing much about computers.
Description of Work: The tech, Spencer, spent almost three hours cleaning up my computer. It was all done by remote but I could watch what he was doing and it looked like he did a thorough job.

The tech (Donna) called me at our agreed-upon appointment time. I established the connection, briefly described the issues, and she worked remotely while I watched. We then discussed some recommendations about future anti-virus and related matters. All very straightforward and efficient.
Description of Work: We had had an infestation from the Fake-Def virus that left the Start menu hosed and many files inaccessible. So I engaged ATR to help fix it. The technician logged in remotely and worked with amazing efficiency while I watched. I had feared the worst, but it appears to be quite well recovered, freed up considerable disk space, and runs faster besides. I am listing this under "Tutoring" as well as "Repair" because it was quite educational to watch, as well as the tech's comments afterwards. If they were to offer a separate tutorial service, I might be interested in that as well, as I believe they could do it quite well.

The service technician (Donna) tried hard to solve my problem, but distractions both at her end and at mine forced us to divide our session into two calls. Although Donna did some research between calls and the second call ran over my allotted time, Donna kindly did not charge me for any of the extra work, because she was not able to solve the problem. I am only rating the overall experience a "B" because there was no final resolution.
Description of Work: This was one last attempt to solve a frustrating problem (wireless networking) with my laptop computer. Because the technician was not able to correct the problem (see the following comments), I have moved on to other matters.

I have to say that of all the service providers I have ever used this has got to be my worst experience ever. Spencer was rude and incompetent. I called him based on the reviews on Angies list which usually steers me well. I am firmly convinced that the reviews on here have got to be planted. He messed up virtually everything he touched. Ordered the wrong operating system, equipment, was late to appointments etc. It got so bad I had my assistant take over the issue. His nick name is negotiator...he can deal with anyone. Well about 10 minutes into talking to him...he too said that the guy was a complete arrogant jerk. Upon asking him for a reimbursement for the time, corrections necessary for equipment etc....he said he would to pay me a fraction of the money I asked for if I signed the contract below...agreeing that if I told anyone on line or off about his poor service I could be sued for $10K...Run don't walk away from this guy. This agreement is between Atlanta Technical Resources, LLC and OversprayRX and/or Julie Dean. This settlement will not be made public nor any of the past experiences between Atlanta Technical Resources, LLC and OversprayRX are to be published, written, spoken,sold, texted, emailed or transferred in any way, to any person, organization or any company. This article applies to both parties. You agree that you will not contact Atlanta Technical Resources, LLC, it?s employees or affiliates in the future, for ANY reason. Failure toabide by this settlement will cause the forfeiture of no less than $10,000 by OversprayRX and/or Julie Dean as provided by the governing court. Description of Work: I love this service. The technicians are real computer experts that are able to remotely work on your computer. It sure beats having to undo plugs and wires to carry your computer to an outside business and then having to rewire and plug everything back in again! I found both Spencer and Donna very helpful. I had some main work done in 2011 and follow up help in January of this year. Both times I received professional, accurate service. Spencer and his team are wonderful - really professional and very knowledgeable. They did a great job repairing my laptop and even found us used parts that were prefect for the job and lots cheaper. Spencer came out to the house the very next day after I called and tried to fix the laptop at our house. He had to take it back to his place and he would have delivered it back to our house if we wanted that. Spencer is now my go-to-guy for computer repairs and service!
Description of Work: We had 2 CDs stuck in the laptop and the power button had come off. The CDs wouldn't come out and they were slowing down the computer. The missing power button made it difficult to turn the machine on. Spencer removed the CDs which took 1 hour. He also bought a used over rim for $60 and took an hour to install that. Total: $180 ($120 for 2 hours labor and $60 for parts)

Took quite a few calls and emails to get a response and set-up the service. The problem I was experiencing prior to the service was not solved, but that was not the focus of their maintenance. No particular issues with the service, once we connected, though I have to admit it required quite a bit of trust to allow remote access to my home computer. I am fairly computer savvy so if I need help for a problem it is usually a difficult one. Well, this one was very difficult. I found Alexander Tech Resources on Angie's List and gave them a call. I got Donna first and then Spencer the next day. Donna was great but we still couldn't solve the problem. The next day we continued and I talked with Spencer. As I said, I know a little about computers so I can recognize when someone really knows their stuff. In a nutshell, he is the most knowledgable tech support guy I have ever come across. He logged into my computer remotely and we talked on the phone while I watched him do his magic. For three hours he logically analyzed the problem, narrowing down the possible causes until finally it was solved. It helps that he was educated at Purdue in engineering, that he has over 25 years experience, that he has all the important certifications, and that he owns the firm. I can't recommend him more highly. He never asked to be be paid until after the problem was solved and then he quoted me a price that I felt was very low for the work performed and the personal time given. I insisted I pay him more. Call these guys. You won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: Internet Explorer was malfunctioning badly on my computer. I had been trying for weeks to fix it on my own with no luck. They logged on to my computer remotely and fixed the problem.
