Description of Work: This company and the service they provided was questioned in a long line of "ball dropping" in the events leading up to assigning an appropriate home insurance company when I was purchasing mt first home in July 2012. As this was my first time buying a home I of course did not know 100% what I was doing and was definately relying on others to guide me. When I hired Royal Covenant Inc to perform my home inspection I was lead to them by a real estate professional. I had asked the owner Lee Harvey for what I was told I should have which was a four point inspection. He told me the inspection that he does lists the homes information in a way the provides all the information any insurance compay would need just not necessarily in the same format. He stated that he is hired by the client and is not doing his work directly for an insurance company but made me believe that what I was giving would work with any request for a four point. I hired him and the inspection was done. What I recieved back I did not question because I did not know what a four point would or should look like. Basically I got a typed list of "Comments" which was very vague in listing the diffent systems in the home. It lists no dates or any manufacturers of equiptment. I also recieved a typed list of "Repairs" that the inspector were saying needed to be made. I did not know I should question anything at that point so I didn't. Now basically 2 months following the purchase of my first home I receive a notice that my home owners policy was due to be cancelled for multiple reasons. One of them being that I did not have an appropriate four point. Without the appropriateinspection report the insurance company could not make a decision on the shape of my home and whether or not it would not meet the standards they require to insure. After making calls to determine what a four point inspection should be I called Mr Harvey again at Royal Covenant. He is the owner he said. He was slightly argumentative and notified me that he never said his inspection "was a four point" but that it provided all the information an insurance company would need if the required a four point. After continued calls and seeing an appropriate four point it was clear to me that this one would never work and now I would done. I again called Mr Harvey to let him know I was disatisfied and that I felt he got my business by giving me false information. I had to leave a message with I assume a secretary and she told me she'd have him call me back. Well she did! He called me ready to fight. He started cursing and telling me "now that you have bought a home that our inspector told you not to buy you want to blame me! This is your fault for not payinhave to get another inspection g attention not mine! you think you didn't get what you paid for thats Bull S+++! " He was very nasty. I informed him afer 5 or so mintues of this behavior that I had him recorded and that I would be reporting him to the Better Business Bureau and that I would be postin on Angie's List the way I was handled by him. Suddenly he calmed down slightly and said that if I got a Four Point inspection and sent him the finished inspection and the reciept he would send me $100. I told him I would take him up on that and ended our call. I will not be taking any money from him to keep from reporting him to the community. He is a horrible businessman and not a very nice person. He has some serious issues to yell and curse at a woman. Not to mention that he flat lied. Also his inspector never told me not to buy the home. He advised me on all the repairs needed and I made my decison based on that. I do realize that this problem is a piece in a long line of people an companies that took advantage of my vulnerability in that this was my first home purchase but this man by far insulted me and lied to me like nothing I have ever experienced. I would never recommend him to anyone and will continue to voice my opinion on his business practices and behavior towards me.
