Good group to do business with, Steve does what he says he will do and on the day and time he says he will be there he is.
Great job!!
I talked to Steve, and he .came out, gave us an estimate, and told us what we needed to do to get county approval to remove the tree. He e-mailed us the contract and the paperwork we needed to sign , we signed it and e-mailed it back to him. On Monday, he applied for the county permit, and received the permit on March 4. He called us and said they would arrive to remove the tree the next morning.
On March 5, they arrived on time and were ready to start to work at 9 AM. The tree was a very large oak, probably 35-40 feet tall. It had been planted by the squirrels nearly 40 years ago. The team worked very fast and very professionally. We just cannot say enough about how effeciently they worked.
By 11:30, the tree was down, large wood loaded on a reuck, limbs all ground, yard raked, sidewalk and street swept and you would not know they were ever here!
We had an excellent experience with Gulf Coast and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and will call them again for any tree problems we might have.
It's a somewhat convoluted story, but stick with me:
There was an oak tree that bordered our driveway and was causing the concrete to buckle. It was big, around 20" in diameter, and we really didn't want to take down such a beautiful mature tree, but the driveway was going to continue to get worse, so?
I knew Gulf Coast Tree Care as an HOA board member due to work they performed for our HOA in removing some palm trees from our park. They did a great job there, so I know they would be the best choice for removing my oak tree.
Back in October or November, I saw one of their trucks a few doors up the street giving a neighbor an estimate, so I flagged the gentleman down and asked him to give me an estimate for removing my oak tree. He explained to me that he was the owner and had come out of retirement due to some personnel changes in the company. He wrote up an estimate and gave me the necessary papers for the County permit. At that time I told him I probably wouldn't have the work done until after the first of the year.
Later that month I had another tree care company give me an estimate for the same work. It was considerably more than what Gulf Coast had quoted. Hmm.
Fast forward to January.
I contacted Gulf Coast and Steve came out to my house to give me a current estimate. It was at that time that I discovered Gulf Coast had changed ownership. Steve was very helpful in explaining the permitting process and what it was going to take to remove the tree. He gave me a new estimate that was a *bit* more than the one the previous owner had given me. This pretty well confirmed to me that the previous estimate had been too low, as the competitor's numbers were much higher at the time. Steve was apologetic and explained the change in ownership and what had taken place as a result.
I was very clear in explaining to Steve that I understood the situation and I did not expect him to honor the previous estimate, as he had not prepared it and it was the product of the former business. I knew Gulf Coast's reputation well enough to know that I was getting a fair price for very high quality work.
I gave Steve the go-ahead a couple of weeks ago. The permit went through without a hitch, and he emailed me Sunday night to let me know that could start the work this week. I told him to start whenever he was ready.
On Monday he came and essentially stripped the tree bare of all the limbs. Had I not noticed it I wouldn't have known they were there. The yard, driveway and surrounding area was so clean I couldn't tell they had been sawing the limbs off a 45 foot high tree.
Steve emailed me Monday and explained that they were not able to finish so they would be back Tuesday to take the tree down and would return later in the week to grind the stump.
On Tuesday he returned and took the rest of the tree down and was ready to grind the stump, but I wasn't expecting him to do it until later in the week so I had not turned off the irritation system water supply. When Steve learned this he let me know that he would return on Wednesday so I could shut off the water Tuesday evening when I got home.
When I arrived home tonight there was a pile of mulch where the stump had been, and again, and I can't think of a better way to describe it, the work are was surgically clean! Steve followed up with an email tonight to let me know they were done and to inquire as to if I had any questions or concerns. He was also kind enough to include a copy of the final invoice for my convenience as well.
I can't say enough good things about Steve and Gulf Coast. He was professional, prompt, courteous, always kept me informed of the progress of the work, and made sure to address any questions I had. While I was not present while the work was done, I can assure anyone that when they finished each day the work area was cleaner that it had been when they arrived.
I highly recommend Steve and Gulf Coast. It's difficult to find a good reputable business at times, and there is no doubt in my mind that Gulf Coast stands head and shoulders above their competitors.
and inspected the tree and gave me an estimate later in the afternoon. I like
that Steven Kale, a certified Arborist, came and inspected my tree as I was
concerned about the trees health. I felt very comfortable with them.
We rescheduled once, but they contacted me in advance and I was not
inconvenienced.
They did a great job and also cleaned up as well. I would definitely
hire them again.
They used a bucket truck to cut the tree's down from the top using ropes to lower the pieces down to the ground . Then a clamp truck was brought in and used to hold and remove the large trunk pieces that were left after the rope work . Both of the trees were in close proximity to our and the neighbor's fences . They used even more plywood against the fence to protect it from any damage .
They then brought in a chipper , disposed of all of the debris and loaded the trunk pieces into a truck . After removing the equipment and plywood , the crew raked the entire area and hauled away all of the lose debris .
The only thing that they left behind were two stumps , a lot of sunshine and happy customers !
Gulf Coast Tree Care Inc. has the equipment , expertise , integrity and customer care that few in this business can offer .
This is a class act and these people are experts ! Good job Steve !
This is the type of company that we Angie's List members are seeking .
When my oaks need to be trimmed I will surely call them again.
By the way, when two of my neighbors saw the work they did, they also hired them to work on their trees.
Crew arrived at appointed time with professional and clean, new-looking equipment. Arborist was on site to explain in detail the planned program. Work proceeded as planned even though weather was unstable. Crew was moved with my permission to help a family remove tree debris that fell on their house during a high wind storm. The Crew returned to complete work and perform final cleanup. Crew leader spoke to Client about results obtained and satisfaction of Client before departing.
In Summary; the work was done in a professional manner by trained and experienced crew led by professional field and office personnel. I would recommnend Gulf Coast Tree Care to my family and friends for their native and ornamental care needs. I would use them again for followup maintenance.
