This was a difficult job that required co-ordination with a distant owner and a tenant that often traveled. There was a lot of hurry up and wait involved in the entire process. Through the Woods handled the situation with professionalism and courtesy. The work was first class and the finished floor looks beautiful.

From the very start Dennis was very responsive. I had to delay the start by several months due to other portions of the project not completed. (I did nearly all the work myself and could only devote weekends to the remodel.) TTW re-used existing floors to minimize the amount of new wood needed to repair old water and termite damage. Even the new wood was color matched to match the age of my original 90 year old floors. The finished product was excellent. I would definitely recommend them to anyone refinishing hardwood floors. The only note of caution I'd give to people considering refinishing floors has nothing to do with the contractor. Old floors often have hidden damage and replacing pieces can get expensive. The sanding process uncovers termite damage that may not be apparent before the top layer is sanded. That being said, there's no better look than refinishing the existing floors on an old house. It's worth the time and expense of refinishing original flooring rather than replacing it. Get several prices, but remember that an entire crew will be in your home for at least several days. Dennis' crew was excellent and I felt I could trust the crew completely. Chris was excellent at "aging" the new wood to match the existing.

It went right on schedule and adjustments were made as needed and stayed on budget and time frame.

I choose this company for several reasons. Dennis was on time for the initial consult and took his time explaining what to expect. Having been through the sanding/sealing process 13 years ago, I was not looking forward to this project-mostly due to the dust it creates. Dennis assured me his equipment was 95% dust free and it exceeded my expectations.He is a certified "Bona" craftsman His technicians were on time and respectful of our home the entire time they were here.

Everything went perfectly. The owner of the company is very detailed and knowledgeable . All invoices were correct and well-explained. The crew is of the expert level and truly trained in every aspect of their work. They are punctual, pleasant, and clean. We had very minimal dust and the finish is exact to what I requested. While the cost seems like a lot of money I did have three companies estimate the job. Through the Woods was only slightly higher than the other two companies I priced but the "get what you pay for" adage truly fits in this circumstance. The other two companies did not have the level of expertise or the knowledge and love of wood that Dennis and Chris possess. One of the other companies tried to talk me into ripping out all of my current solid hardwood and having them lay new engineered wood floors. The other company told me my oak and maple floors were a different species of wood. I highly recommend Through the Woods to anyone looking for a professional and well scheduled job.

Dennis came out and gave us a very detailed estimate, which he honored to the penny. He explained everything they were going to do, and why. We had our choice of 3 different finishes; we chose Satin and we are thrilled with the way the floors look now. He spent quite a bit of time with us. All the work was done while we were traveling, so we cannot say how it went. But we had to completely empty the rooms beforehand, and then replace all the furniture when we returned. We understand that the work took basically one week to complete. Our neighbor said they left on Friday and came back on Monday to finish up. Over the weekend they did leave all the lights on, so the floors could dry. They didn't want to walk on the floors to turn the lights off! Dennis followed up by phone, to see how we liked the floors, after we got back. We would use this contractor again. Work was very professional.

We hired Through the Woods after approximately three months of research, numerous visits, phone calls and countless questions. Dennis, the owner, was very patient with us and kept us constantly abreast during the entire process from the inquiries on types of products, ordering process, demolition and installation. We hired them to demo approximately 2200 square feet of carpet, tile and wood and to install new wood floors and 5.25 base molding throughout the same area. We ran into an issue with the foundation needing some remediation before the installation but they kept us up to date on the issue and moved it through to completion. The extra foundation work took an extra week but the finished product was well worth the wait. We would definitely use Dennis again!

It went very well. We sought four quotes, all from top Angies List service providers. Dennis was the second least expensive, but I had the most confidence and comfort with his knowledge and approach, and he came highly recommended from our realtor. His quote was also the most inclusive (other excluded quarter round installation, vapor barrier, and other details). He was very involved and responsive to our questions. We looked at samples for weeks, switching them out a few times. Dennis was very patient as we struggled to make a decision on the wood choice. After a final decision, it turned out that the wood we wanted was on backorder, and we couldn't get it in time for our July 4th week changeout. Dennis helped us with an alternate, similar selection, and absorbed some of the cost in the change since our first choice wood had an unusually long lead time. The installation took place over a holiday week, and Dennis' crew were very polite and professional. We ran one day into the following week due to some surprises in the pre-work to the concrete slab, but they were accommodating when we returned and completed the work during our stay at the house (upstairs). Overall we are very happy. The floors look wonderful, and most important of all, my wife loves them.

I had nasty carpet in my rooms and the new floor completely transformed the look of my house. They were very straight forward about the pricing and the owner checked on his workers and progress a few times during the week.

I was happy with them. I thought they were a little expensive, but the job was good. I thought that the quality was good. However, they did get some of the refinishing chemicals on the sidewalls.

The price was on the higher end compared to other vendors but WELL WORTH IT! Very professional and extremely high quality. We originally were going with a more expensive sealant but were talked out of it because we wanted to get the floors darker and that option wouldn't be the best fit. Through the Woods was laser focused on getting us the results we were after and they did just that. I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent selection of flooring materials. Dennis answered all our questions about glue-down vs floating floor options, engineered wood options, wide plank vs narrow plank, bamboo options. Selected Triangulo Chocolate Brazilian Pecan engineered wood flooring. Very good price compared to other quotes we obtained. Work was completed prior to our move-in date. Dennis was also able to install ceramic tile in the master bedroom closets (to match adjacent flooring) even though tile installation is a service not normally provided. We supplied the tile for installation. Minor carpentry work to square off the bottom step of the staircase. Some confusion on our expectation for the finished look. We had to ask Dennis to paint/prime white the ends of shoe mouldings and stair risers. Work crews were friendly and professional. Did a good job of identifying potential issues/problems before getting too far into the installation to minimize re-work effort.

Absolutely first class job in all respects from the quoting process through installation. Dennis and his team are polite and prompt and although they may not be the cheapest, the finished product is worth the investment!

Dennis and his crew did an absolutely outstanding job. We were moving into a house with hickory floors that had yellowed over the years and were in poor condition. We also wanted to replace shag carpeting in our bedroom and study. After researching Angie's List and several other sources I found Through the Woods. The reviews were great, but what even more impressive was that Dennis had completed our neighbor's floors and they were fantastic. I was coordinating the job with Dennis from Fort Lauderdale so it took a lot of trust to complete this job. The bottom line is that his company performed incredibly. They completely sanded down all the floors and prepared the other rooms for installation. While doing that, they found substandard work performed by the original builder: floors were improperly leveled with cement and our upstairs railing was improperly attached resulting in a safety hazard. His crew did an excellent job fixing these discrepancies and then he helped us pick out the perfect finish for the floors. To complicate the issue, we had other renovation work going on and Tropical Storm Debbie hit just as all this was coming together. Dennis nimbly moved his crews around to finish the job in time to let the floors set up and accommodate our movers. The results were astounding. Everyone that comes to our house is impressed by the craftsmanship, quality, and look of our new floors. In addition, we found other things like thresholds that needed attention. Dennis negotiated these items as well and the result were excellent improvements. Just after the floors were installed we had an unfortunate mishap. A forty pound piece of granite fell on our floor and put a big dent in it. I was heartbroken but Dennis and his team set up a repair plan and did a great job fixing it. If you are looking for incredibly meticulous and professional work, look no further and call Dennis.

Dennis & his workers were very good. From Dennis' follow up on my calls & emails prior to installation, timeliness for our shop visit appointment, etc., to the meticulous work performed by his workers, Uriel & Leon; we were told what we'd get and received what we were told. It's refreshing to work with a contractor with these values.

The owner came to meet with us. He was very direct & gave us pricing. They honored everything they said they would - They did what they said they'd do. We weren't here for the work but everything was nice & clean when we got back & they did a great job. I'd definitely recommend them & use them again.

Let me assure you, I certainly never thought it was because of Through the woods. We had these floors installed by them 4 years ago and every single person that sets into our home comments on how beautiful they are. They used a vapor barrier and did amazing work but I didn't know who else to call. Dennis was polite and came out the same day as the request. He took his time and explained everything he was doing. He suggested why we are having the problem and who to call. I also showed him another problem I was having that had nothing to do with wood floors but I mentioned water issues and he asked to have a look. I can't say enough about these guys. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't use anyone else. :)

We used Through the Woods to refinish and stain the wood floors in our house. Dennis was extremely thorough in explaining the process. He explained the reasoning behind each step and was always available to answer questions. We wanted much darker floors so he really explained the options for getting the results we wanted. Chris (project manager) was very thorough and also took time to work with me to get the exact stain I wanted. The workers were all very professional and wonderful to work with. My floors turned out beautiful - even better than I had hoped. I would absolutely recommend using Through the Woods.

No follow up after initial conversation-----we're moving on.
