SUTTER ROOFING

I called Sutter Roofing to repair a metal roof leaking in one of my tenant's units. I had to call twice to actually get the service scheduled because no one called back to confirm a date and time after my initial call. They did show up within a couple of days as promised and made the repairs. It was almost a month before I got the bill and in that time they called again twice to schedule the service call. They didn't know they had already done the work. The bill came to $435 for 2.5 hours and $85 of materials. The repair consisted of replacing 3 rusted screws and applying sealant along one area about 18" long. My tenant told me the 2 roofers spent less than 15 minutes on the roof and about an hour in their truck. Sutter charges $70/hr/roofer and always sends 2 people. I called the service manager and complained about the bill, telling him what my tenant reported. He looked at a GPS tracking device installed in the truck and maintained the roofers actually spent 3 hours at the location. He did say they spend 30 minutes doing paperwork at the end of each job and admitted these two were not part of his regular crew, but he sided with them and totally dismissed my complaint and my tenant's report. I'm not a roofer, but I don't think such a minor repair could have taken more than an hour, even if you're moving at a snail's pace. A few days later, Sutter called again to schedule the repair! Their office obviously doesn't know what's going on in the field.
