I had printed out some materials that I was considering purchasing, he took the time to go over EVERY item in detail and walk me through the various options. He spent over 1.5 hours with me, was extremely courteous and took his time. Will ALWAYS use Benson's from here on out.

Description of Work: My A/C Heating system is in the attic. It started flooding from the accumulating precipitation. They replaced the filters and made sure everything was working well to stop the flooding.

+ -1 moreThey are excellent. They come every 6 months; I have 2 visits a year, one for the AC and one for the heating, and they are coming out for the A/C in May. I have a contract with them, a yearly renewable one. They also installed the system. The price is a few 100 bucks. They come when they are supposed to be here, they are dependable, they do good work and they keep the system running well.

+ -1 moreBefore they did the repair, in order to save my money, they crossed over the wires so that, if it did not stop working, it would mean that the unit was not bad. I was very happy with them. The job cost me about $460 to replace the module. There was one fellow, who made me a little uncomfortable with his talk about Jesus. I called them and complained to them that I was not paying them to listen to religious talks. He was just a helper, though. The guy, who was in charge, was very nice and intelligent. I will use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Benson’s Air Conditioning Inc. repaired my air conditioner, a month ago. They had to replace one of the modules in the air conditioner.

+ 0 moreOur house was built 20 years ago and the original duct work was badly done. They explained why this did not work and why it was moulded and just so inefficient. Benson’s team replaced everything. On our annual contract they come out twice a year, fall and spring for just maintaining the system. I was born and raised here and they are a company that has been in business in Tallahassee for a very long time. At that time I am pretty sure that we just pulled them out of the phone book. But I knew their name and knew their reputation by word of mouth. Generally I am home by myself and I have felt comfortable having these people coming into my home with me being here by myself. If I am not comfortable I am not going to call them back and I have had such a situation. That person made me feel uneasy. I did not trust them. Benson’s call and let me know that it is time for servicing, set up an appointment and that is when they show up.
Description of Work: I used Benson's Heating & Air Conditioning Inc in 2003 to replace the heating and air-conditioning unit. I have an annual contract with them and also in early 2009 they replaced and upgraded all of the duct work in the attic for the entire house. The annual contract cost $150.

+ -1 moreI hate our first interaction with Benson turned sour b/c I have never heard any negative comments about their service. I do wish the gentleman would have checked the heat pump/strips as promised and I wish Benson's would stock the filters. It is a Lenox unit. Overall, if there had not be a communication problem between the technican and my husband I think I would be writing a glowing review. I hope our next visit will be totally different. .
Description of Work: Scheduled one year maintenance for new a/c. Technican was very courteous, prompt and explained in detail what he would be looking at and checking during the appt. The unit had been purchased through another a/c company that went out of business and Benson's received all their customers. The technican stated he would also check the heating strips to make sure the heat pump, etc... was functioning properly. He first went to examine the handler(?) in our attic and came down to inform me that the people who installed the unit did not put a safety overflow valve (?) in the top of the drain (?). There was a drain pan but he stated Benson's always installs the one at the top. He stated we didn't want water sitting in our drip pan that would rust. The cost with our 20% discount would be $130. I was ready to have to install the part but my husband questioned him on why we need an additional safety feature? The old unit (30 years) had no problems with any over flow and he didn't understand why we need to spend another $130? The technican tried to explain why but my husband felt like we were be sold a part that we didn't need so the conversation became heated. The technican handled it as well as he could but he was defensive too. Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable situation. The technican was upset and had an attitude with me which I thought was inappropriate. He claimed he was calling his office (as if it was a threat) and I asked him why? He didn't respond and wouldn't speak with me. I thought he behavior was out of line also and he could have handled the situation differenlty. I wasn't part of the discusssion about the necessity of the part so why did he have an attitude with me? He finished checking the unit and my husband went up in the attic to see what he was talking about. He decided not to add the part. The technican left a copy of his findings and departed. The heat pump was not checked as promise. Benson's doesn't keep the filter necessary for our Lenox unit so it has to be ordered. It will be delivered to our house and then we are to call Benson's to schedule another visit to replace the filter.

Description of Work: We added a porch/sun room to our house and needed to have a heating and air conditioning unit installed for this project. We opted for a standalone "mini-split" as the additional drain on our current AC/heating unit would be too much. We solicited bids from four businesses and Bensons had the lowest bid for the specificatons required for our project. Estimates ranged from $3800 to $4200 and other businesses did not represent Mitsubishi (our preference). Installation went smoothly and the unit does a great job of heating and cooling the additional 550 square feet of space. These units are very efficient and we will be able to apply for the tax savings of 30%.
