Witt Fence Co Inc

On August 6, 2015 we had Witt Fence Co remove our existing 16 year old wood fence and replace it with a six foot white vinyl Avalon fence. In the same day they removed the existing fence and installed 191 feet of fence and 4 gates. The salesman and workers were all very friendly. Before I selected Witt Fence Co, I had estimates from "Family Fence Co" and "Arden Fence and Outdoor Creations." They all had A ratings on Angie's List but Witt Fence Co had the lowest quote. Between the three companies, they were about $300 apart.

I received estimates from the top three providers on Angies list and Witt Fence, who had worked for me previously, was the lowest bid. They arrived on time and started to tear down the old fence. My next door neighbor threatened to call the sheriff because they were accessing the fence from her property. After a heated exchange she opted to have her husband come home to deal with the problem. I explained the only way they could install the fence with the posts and stringers on my property was to build the fence from their yard. This was agreed to and the work continued. There was a palm tree that was partially straddling the fence line and pushed the old fence into the neighbor?s yard. With the previous neighbor problems we decided to have the tree removed. Because we have several small dogs Witt Fence built the fence up to each side of the tree until we were able to remove the tree. I contacted three tree service providers from Angies list for estimates. After choosing a provider I coordinated with Witt and they said that since we were so close to them that they would close the gap as soon as the tree was removed. Witt returned the afternoon the tree was removed and instead of patching the missing section they went back to the post on either side of the gap and custom built a new section that made it impossible to tell that there had been a problem. I was extremely satisfied with the entire job and the adaptability they showed for resolving the problem with the tree. There was no additional charge for the second trip necessary to complete the job! I was especially impressed with finished look of the gates. The black metal carriage house hinges look great and I really like the way they drilled holes in my driveway so that the gated is secured with metal rods into the concrete. I'm extremely satisfied and would recommend them highly to anyone that needs a fence!!

We needed remove old fence. Install a new fence and two gates on our property. I called scheduled an appointment. Rich showed up on time. Explained to us all options The workers arrived on time. They consulted with us about what they were going to do and got right to work. They were nice people to work with and they did a good job.

They were here at my home as scheduled...brought in their tools and started taking down the old fence. They carried all the old fencing to their trailer and started bringing in the new fencing material. They went right to work putting in the big poles and the fencing went up pretty fast. They did an excellent job and I would recommend Witt Fencing to my family and friends.

We got a new privacy fence and they tore down and hauled off the old. Everything went well, and when we had problems a year later, even though we were outside of the year warranty, they sent someone out and took care of the problem free of charge. I recommend Witt Fence company. Very professional.

I called during business hours on a Thursday and left a voicemail. Mr. Randy Gavin returned my call four days later, the following Monday, and left me a voicemail. I returned the call about an hour later and after an individual answered the phone, "Witt Fence Company," I simply asked with whom am I speaking. Randy again said, "Witt Fence Company." I said yes, of course, but what is your name? Rather than stating his name, Randy then replied with, "What is your name?" At this point I am asking myself why is he being such an unkind person but I give my name and question why it is he is not able to give me his name and he said "I told you, this is Witt Fence Company." Unbelievable. I then ask if I am indeed speaking to Mr. Witt, to which he replies, "Yes." I then ask if his name is Rod (because that is what I thought he had said on my voicemail) and he said, "No," to which I said I would call him right back. I then listened to my voicemail again to get the correct name and to confirm that it was the same voice. Indeed it was Randy Gavin. At this point he was not only rude in not answering a simple question but he lied to me about being Mr. Witt. I called back and he again answered the phone and I asked him if his name was Randy and he said, "Yes, what may I do for you?" I explained that I did not understand why he was so unwilling to provide his name and he replied "If the caller is unidentified then they do not disclose such information."and then asked, "Who do you represent?" I told him I already told him my name and what I represented was a potential customer until his shenanigans. I was completely dumbfounded. I was hoping to have a beautiful perimeter fence installed by a company given so many high ratings on Angie's List and instead I get Mr Randy Gavin being, well, you make your own conclusions.

I made an appointment two weeks ahead of time and then they never showed. They left a message confirming appointment day before and never said they required a call back or they would not show. Randy on phone was very rude and unprofessional. I went with another company that showed up when they said they would!

Witt Fence Company originally installed fencing around part of my back and side yards. I was highly satisfied with the results back then so they were the first ones I called for a minor issue of one of the gates not closing properly. I got an estimate to "reset post" for $185 on 4/13/15. I told the estimator there was no immediate rush to do the job but after three weeks went by my wife called on 5/4/15 and asked when we could expect the work to be done. The company called back on 5/4/15 and said they would come the next day, 5/5/15, if they could get someone down to my area. Less than two hours later on 5/4/15 two men showed up to do the work. They laid out a bag of concrete mix, a wheelbarrow and a fence pole to do the work when one of the men decided that all that was necessary was to push on the gate pole to shift it a few inches which created enough clearance for the gate to work properly. Since that was my ultimate goal I was satisfied with the result. Since the work indicated on the work order really never got done I called the company the next day and asked if the $185 could be adjusted more in line with the work that actually was performed. I spoke to Mr. Garvin who reluctantly dropped the price to $150, saying that was his minimum charge for any work. Nowhere on the estimate does it say anything about a minimum charge. Since his workers were here less than half an hour, the cost equates to $300 per hour for the work; divided by two workers, that's $150 per hour per worker. As a businessman myself, I understand there are other expenses involved, travel time, vehicle, gas etc. but it still comes out to a lot of money for very little work. I rarely hire anyone that is not on Angie's List but in the future, at least for fencing issues, I will have to shop around some before just assuming a bunch of good ratings indicates superior customer service.

The entire process was awesome. I received an appointment for an estimate about a week after I first called, and the estimator was right on time, very knowledgeable. Didn't try to oversell me - listened to exactly what I wanted. The proposal was fair and so I called the next day to set up an install date -- which was about 2 weeks later. The 3-man crew arrived right on time, confirmed exactly what I wanted done, and did a great job. The fence is beautiful. I can't say enough great things about this company -- I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They responded quickly to my request for a quote and came in several hundred dollars lower than the other bid I had gotten. The office scheduled the install . They arrived on time and went to work. Completing the work in a few hours. The cleaned up and left everything in good shape. They were prompt and very professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Stan and Randy provide outstanding service. I had given up on my automated gate; multiple installers, multiple vendors, each worse than the last until I decided the entire industry was just a bunch of used car salesmen. Randy and Stan managed to make me trust honest people again. Fully repaired, including honoring a factory warranty the most previous service provider told me was expired. Service so fast I did not even know Stan had arrived when he knocked on my door to tell me work was complete. Since, they have serviced the gate once because of an error *I* made, but made the service call part of their warranty for the services Stan previously provided. Could not ask for a more pleasant experience.

Everything was excellent, from the estimate appointment to the installation. I scheduled the appointment for the free estimate, the contractor arrived on time and explained the installation process. I called the following week (after receiving 2 other estimates) to schedule the installation. The crew arrived at the scheduled time, reviewed the installation process with me and immediately started to work. Everyone was polite and professional. The entire job took about 6-hours, and the crew worked non-stop. My back yard is on an incline requiring each post to be at a different level to have the top of the fence line up. They did an excellent job, the fence lines up perfectly on the upward slope and looks great!

These guys are the standard for the fencing industry in Tampa. They came out, gave an estimate, were able to meet the timeframe we needed. Always professional, always caring, always above and beyond in everything they do. Buying a new house and the ONLY quote we will get for our fence will be from Witt. GREAT JOB, GUYS!

The owner of the company Ed Witt came out to give me an estimate to replace the wood fence around my property with white Vinyl fencing. I selected them from Angie's list because of the recommendations they had received. He also offered an Angie's List discount which is always good. He arrived on time, took his measurements, seemed pleasant (which I still say) and we came in and sat down at the table and he asked me "what I wanted to know about fencing?" Everything in my opinion, went down hill from there!... He made no presentation, had no sample of his product (which he claims he does not carry around in his truck). I said to myself, what do I want to know about fencing?... Everything! I know nothing! ...If I had not met with another prospect a few days earlier, I would not have had a clue what to ask him! We went over a few of the things ( I could remember from the competitors sales presentation) that were important to me like, post depth, panel length, who pays for sprinkler damage,Virgin Vinyl USA made, Subcontractors if any, and I requested to see a copy of his license and worker's comp. prior to commencement if they are selected. He gave me his proposal and he left. His price turned out being several hundred dollars more even with the discount, but I am not one to quibble about a few hundred dollars if the job is done well. As I had several projects going on at the same time and was also coordinating sod replacement for the same time around fence installation, AND THEN...THE DOWNFALL!... I called them back back on July 10th and spoke with Randy Garvin, the point of contact there as Ed was not available. I told him I was interested in moving forward and asked him for a copy of their current Business license and Workers Compensation Policy for verification (WHICH OTHER COMPANIES HAD VOLUNTARILY PROVIDED AT PRESENTATION IN THEIR PACKET). i also asked if I could see their product as Ed, the owner, had not brought any samples during the proposal process. His responses to me regarding these issues were as follows: The product is standard white Vinyl, tongue and groove which is standard for the industry. To which I replied, how would I know that is the industry standard? He said as far as the license and workers comp information, they only provide it when requested, when the contract is signed. He said, they have it and if I don't believe they have it, perhaps I should take my business elsewhere. I MEAN ARE WE IN THE TRUST BUSINESS... OR IS THIS BUSINESS.

I initially contacted Witt Fence because they were near by, and I liked the examples provided on their website. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate, and Rich came out with all of the information, explained my options to me and made some recommendations based on my property to get the most use out of the fence. He provided me with a written estimate and gave me some installation timelines based on their current availability. I had to obtain HOA approval for the project, so once I received that, I called the office back and spoke with Randy who was able to schedule the appointment for me right away. It took only a month between getting the estimate and getting the work completed, including the time it took me to get the HOA approval, so this was a very reasonable turn around time in my opinion. The work was done on the day it was scheduled, and was completed in one day. The crew worked very quickly, and asked questions about things where my input and decisions were needed (placement of fence, position of gate, etc.). Everything was done as I had requested. They also made it a point to identify my property line to make sure the fence was placed appropriately. These may seem like small things, but to me, attention to detail and customer service make or break the experience, and I truly appreciate the effort that was put in to make sure things were done as needed. I was able to make payment by credit card, by phone, and they honored the Angie's List coupon listed, even though I asked about it after the estimate was given. Overall, a great experience, and I would highly recommend Witt Fence to others.

We had called a couple of fencing companies for estimates. Witt , Rich , came right out when he said he would and provided an estimate. He was very professional and the pricing was very good. We did not use him as my wife and neighbor (we split cost of fence between our yards) decided on another fencing company (also on Angie's). Rich was very punctual and professional. Should I need any fencing in the future I would certainly consider Witt fencing.

I contacted Randy at Witt Fence Co. Inc about replacing the existing fence across the back of my property. I received an estimate the next day and the work was scheduled for the next available day. They sent utility contractors to mark underground utilities. They called prior to the scheduled installation to reconfirm all the details. A crew arrived at the scheduled time and went right to work with the removal of the old fence and the construction of the new fence. The crew was polite and professional and the work was completed exactly as quoted and agreed too. The new fence looks great and I am very satisfied with their work. I would use them for any future fencing needs and recomment them to anyone needing fencing.

Ed Witt provided the estimate, which was the exact amount charged upon completion. Everyone involved was very courteous and professional. They accepted two separate credit cards as payment, which allowed us to get the project started sooner. The installation started on time and went smoothly and quickly. The posts were up the first day and the fence was finished on day two. That impressed me since our property had 7 or 8 stumps close to the fence line and we have some low, moist spots in there as well. The fence looks perfectly straight to the naked eye and it keeps my Australian Shepard in the yard. The materials seem to be of high quality and have held up very well. Terminal posts used are 2 1/2 " in diameter, line posts are 1 5/8" diameter and the top rail is 1 3/8" diameter. The black chain link almost blends into the woods behind us. To date, I have not seen any rust, sagging or leaning and the fence is about two years old now. There was a minor installation issue which was corrected as soon as I called the office to mention it. We have a sidewalk in back which is connected to our house. Instead of tearing up concrete at the foundation to install a terminal pole at the house, the latch for the walk gate was attached directly to our stucco. The particular area it was installed was not strong enough to hold the bolts, so the latch was coming loose from the wall. Someone came out the next day and bolted in the latch a few inches in one direction and it is still holding. I did have an estimate from another company that was about 20% less, but they were only accepting checks and wanted to have a safe place for my dog to run around right away. I have no regrets and would hire these guys again in a New York second if I ever decide to fence in more of the property.

I purchased my home and dealt with many contractors. Let me tell you Mr Witt and team were the most professional team that serviced my home. They did what they said they would do. The team of workers were outstanding including the full integrity of Mr Witt himself. If anyone slams this company their just ignorant to other services companies. I would say 1/3 of the service companies out there don't even reply back (Its getting bad out there) These guys not only were well priced , they did exactly what they said they would do and on-time. Bravo Witt Fence!

Ed came out to measure the gate and gave me an estimate and time frame to make the gate and install it. They called a few days ahead of the scheduled installation to confirm. They arrived on time, did an excellent job and I could not be more pleased.

The problem is 6 years later the fence posts are rotted out and need to be replaced thanks to using sub standard wood for the posts. For another $2.00 per post they could have used pressure treated wood. The area where the posts are rotted is dry, its not like the posts were sitting underwater. The other problem is the posts were not set in concrete so the fence is all over the place now, it's not straight. I am very embarrassed I actually got them another job in the neighborhood. Don't use these people. Update : 11/08/14 a building contractor came out to replace my fence posts and they were all eaten by termites. Pressure treated wood is not eaten by termites. Witt Fence Co did not use pressure treated wood. I have the fence posts in my possession for dispute of this. Some people will do anything to save a buck and pass the cost on to you.

The fence install went really well, but I wasn't happy with the pricing as I would like to be. They weren't willing to bargain, but I went with them because of the after purchase guarantee and all that. The quality of the work stood out. They did a fantastic job. They reset everything in concrete, they put up the extra gate, and the trim, it looks fantastic.

Their price was competitive with other quotes I received. They answered any questions I asked. Their employees were responsive and professional.

Great work ethic, great company to deal with, great products. Highly recommended!
