I appreciated their promptness and professionalism.
Description of Work: I had left a message in Angies List message center for this company to contact me to make an appointment for a roof repair. They called me back immediately even though they were not taking repair jobs so far away from them.

We contacted Shingle Masters to give us an estimate on some repair work we needed done on the roof of our front porch. They were very responsive and prompt, and gave us a free estimate after coming out to the house and assessing the problem. While we ended up going with another company to do the work, Shingle Masters was very helpful and professional. We would recommend them to any family and friends who need roof work done in the Tampa Bay area.

We had a 9:00 AM appointment on September 16, 2014,for Shingle Masters to come out to inspect a possible roof leak. We called the day before for verification and was told we are set for 9:00 AM. Here it is 1:30 and no show. I am contacting another roofer. My time is just as valuable as Shingle Masters. If you are going to be late, a courtesy call would be the right thing to do. I am totally disappointed with their lack of courtesy and give them an F.
Description of Work: Called first week of September 2014 for appointment. We arranged it for Sep 16. I called on Sep 15 for verification. Was told we are set for 9:00 AM on Sep 16. It wasn't sometime between 9 and 5 but set for 9:00 AM.

Very professional, thorough company. Part of the roof needed to be repaired along with some of the wood underneath. They made the repairs including new shingles and flashing. Then theyrepaired the stucco (due to the roof repair) and lastly painted the stucco. I was told exactly how the process would work and that's exactly how it went.
Description of Work: Repaired part of the roof to eliminate leak in the garage.

From the first time we met with Shingle Masters, they were very professional and sensitive to our needs. A thorough estimate was prepared, and presented to my husband and I same day. We were provided with several options for roofing materials and shingle manufacturers. They were very thorough with detailing the benefits of various options. Shingle Masters were the only roofer we met with that provided a COMPLETE estimate, without any guesswork of "how many extra plywood panels are we going to need" or any other hidden items. I loved to hear that the estimate was the final price, even if they found something else after they started, we would pay no more. They arrived on time the day scheduled. The whole day ran like clockwork from the moment they arrived. The team was large, tenured and very efficient. They took great care to cover all plant life, the pool, and other yard areas. They were very careful not to damage anything on the property. Although they had said at estimate that they'd finish in one day, I've never seen that accomplished before. True to word, the teardown, preparation, reroof, wood repairs and ALL cleanup was performed before they left that day. We were amazed! They took great care in ensuring that all old roofing materials were cleaned up, and performed several sweeps to ensure they picked up any old nails. Since they repaired/replaced several sections of wood, those areas needed to be repainted to match the existing surface. I thought that I had the paint in the shed, but ended up that I didn't. They took a sample, purchased the paint, and those sections were painted and completed the following day. I had noticed that the drip tray on one of my potted plants was broken. Without hesitation, they replaced the pot bottom. They scheduled the final inspection, and once completed, came back to my house to collect payment. It was exactly what I was quoted - period. In the past 16 years, this makes the 3rd re-roof I've had performed. I've never had before the professionalism or quality that Shingle Masters provided. I'll gladly refer them to my friends!
Description of Work: Replaced roof with upgraded dimensional shingles, replaced all bad plywood panels in roof, and replaced/repaired all rotten wood areas in sofft and under roof.

Getting it all took interviewing 20+ companies and making a false start with one that ended up not being insured (so sad to say he was a Veteran) who kept my $2,000 deposit. BUT it was worth the wait..I DID GET IT ALL: PRICE, QUALITY, SPEED and PROFESSIONALISM. As a widow, it seemed like all the estimators were trying to 'flirt with me' to get my business. They took a couple of weeks to get to me, but it was worth the wait. They gave me a insurance certification for the remediation, all kinds of warranties and all sorts of other goodies. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Provided a re-roofing for my mish-mash low slope roofs (I have a 4/12, and 3/12, a 2/12 and a 1/12). They even pulled up the sheeting and put in more insulation to help me with energy costs.

I called and left a message for Mike. He called me right back and was out to our home to review the work required within 2 days. He climbed up and walked the roof and found a second area where the shingles had blown off during a storm and he found where the vent ridges were not sealed by the builder. He explained what he had found and the work and materials required to fix the areas. He provided me with a quote for $200 and said that he would have a crew at my home that following Saturday to perform the work. As promised, two of his workers were at my home that Saturday and fixed the problems. They were prompt, reasonably priced, honest, provided great service and stayed within the estimate. Great experience. Based on my experience I would recommend Shingle Masters to anyone in need of roof work.

My wife found the company,in late June, with the help of the Angie's List monthly magazine. I called an met with their estimator. after we decided to go with the company, I called and then faxed over the signed contract, They initially wanted to start on the 4th of July weekend and I wasn't comfortable with anyone working on our house while we weren't home. They then scheduled for this past weekend. They called ahead as I had requested and showed up on time. The workers were professional and courteous and kept the area clean as they worked.

Mr. [removed member name], I am sorry that you felt it necessary to post such a poor review of our company. Only one year ago we replaced your 6000 sq ft roof and to my knowledge and according to your review of our company you were very satisfied(you gave us an A review on Angie’s List). At the time of your roof replacement last year, Brock had recommended the additional venting that you were requesting now. At that time you were adamant that we not install the vents because of the solar venting you wanted. Had you allowed us to install the vents during your roof replacement there would have been no additional cost to you. From our conversations via email and phone, you believed that we should install the new ventilation at cost or below because we installed your roof. Unfortunately we were not able to do this. Thank you for your previous business and good luck in the future.

This was the most professional and genuinely caring contractor I have ever met. They were responsive, perfectly on time or slightly early for every meeting. Took the time to work with us on our needs, explained everything in detail and executed EXACTLY as they said they would. I really could not be more pleased with the work, result and process than I am now. Shinglemasters performed in every way and blew away my expectations. We had a very bad and leaky roof, now we have a new roof, done in 3 days. No leaks, no damage to surrounding plants, no garbage or nails left behind. You would never even know they were here except we have a nice new roof. I would not use anyone else, ever. We have a 50 year warranty on the product and a lifetime warranty on installation, hard to ask for anything more.
Description of Work: stripped the roof clean, replaced the bad wood, put in weather block across entire roof and double in seams and on tops. then re shingled entire roof, replaced all vent caps with full length units. Built a cricket for the chimney, repainted the chimney, put squirrel proof cages on all vents, cleaned up and never left a mess.

He came out on time 2 days after the initial phone call and took the pictures (he was very responsive.) They told me not worry and that they would take care of it for me. I called back 3 days later and the lady at the office told me she would have Ed write the report. After the 3rd phone call, she didn't answer the phone for me anymore. The report was due by June 18th, but I haven't heard anything. If they couldn't make it, I would've understood and would've had someone else come out and take care of it. I have used them before and there were no problems. He was timely and professional last time.

[member name removed], I apologize that we were unable to perform the wind mitigation inspection for you as you had requested. There was confusion regarding your request. Your initial phone call to our office gave Dallas in our office the impression that we had already performed a wind mitigation inspection to you in the past and it only needed to be updated(they expire every five years). When Ed arrived to your home he realized this was not the case. In hindsight, Ed should have told you this. At this time Ed could have provided you with a wind mitigation inspection, however due to the existing conditions(spray foam insulation and an existing roof ) we could not inspect the roof to deck attachment(nailing) hurricane straps, or the presence of a secondary water barrier(peel and stick underlayment). Because of these issues we would have given you an inspection that may not have reflected the actual construction of your home. For this reason we were not able to provide you with a wind mitigation inspection. This should have been communicated to you immediately. I apologize for that. For clarification only, we did not collect payment or perform services for you regarding this request for inspection. Thank you

I phoned you around 430pm, a half hour before our 5pm appointment, to confirm the appointment and let you know I was coming across town and with traffic I would be running late. We called and ask for estimate for our roof and got great response. Ed came out on Friday 1/31/14 and arrived prior to the appointment to start checking our roof. He gave us the estimate and was to get us some info on gutters. We sent an e-mail 3/3/14 to say we wanted to proceed but had a few questions and ask for him to call us. Ed e-mailed on the 4th saying he was going to have surgery e-mail our questions. We e-mailed back a few days later with our questions. We did not hear from anyone at the company so we called to find out how Ed was doing after his surgery and was told he was on light duty but he would be calling us. Today is 4/4/14 and we have not heard anything. I know this a family run business but someone should follow up. We are very disappointed because we had heard good things about this company.

I called Shingle Masters for quotes and was quickly scheduled to meet with Mike Beauchaine on Jan. 27, 2014. Shingle Masters is a family owned business; Ed (father); his two sons, Mike and Brock and Dallas in the office (who I think is the daughter/sister). I found working with Mike (and Dallas) to be easy. Mike was very responsive to questions and concerns. He also seemed to know his product lines. MIke walked my roof and provided estimates for both GAF and Owens-Corning roofing systems. Both quotes included the necessary products to meet lifetime warranty requirements (both companies require such things as peel and stick rubberized underlayment instead of felt paper and starter shingles along with other products). Interestingly, the extra cost in the quotes for the lifetime shingle/workmanship warranty was cheaper from Shingle Masters than the same lifetime warranty quotes provided by other companies. One roofing contractor quoted twice as much for the lifetime GAF warranty compared to the Shingle Masters quote. I didn't realize that various roofing companies would charge differing amounts for an extended warranty provided by the manufacturer. While I was considering GAF vs. Ownens-Corning, I was checking online for complaints against GAF and Owens-Corning. I found various class action lawsuits, users hasles, shingle problems etc. Neither company came out problem free, but when I talked to Mike about some concerns I had with Owens Corning, he made immediate contact with his Owens-Corning rep. and had satisfactory replies back to me on the same day that I expressed my concerns. I asked Mike for a sample Shingle Masters contract and copies of the lifetime warranties offered by GAF and Owens-Corning and he emailed those to me the evening following the estimate. He also provided a list of houses in my area with the shingle that I was considering so I could go see actual roofs. He was also quick to reply to various questions and concerns that I emailed to him while considering quotes. With input from Mike, I decided to go with the Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration with the manufacturer extra cost lifetime warranty. The Shingle Masters quoted priced for GAF vs. Owens Corning were only $100 apart. Mike provided good reasons to go with Owens-Corning (and I was reluctant to go with GAF after all the problems I'd had with them before). Some of the things that I liked about the Shingle Master quote: -The price was excellent compared to other quotes. -The Shingle Masters quote was much more detailed than other companies and Mike had no problems when I wanted to add language to the contract to get really specific on a couple of things. - No down payment (a coule of other companies wanted deposits). - Shingle Masters was an ALL inclusive quote including ALL repairs. I told Mike that previous repairs had required replacement of rotted OSB and there was probably a lot more rotted wood up there. Mike said that he noticed a few spongy areas while walking my roof, but still, all rotted wood repairs were included in the price (unless the damage was termite related). Other companies that provided quotes allowed 2 sheets of plywood and then from $50 to $65.00/sheet for anything beyond 2 sheets. Shingle Masters ended up replacing a lot of rotted OSB on my roof. I don't know the total number of sheets, but I had an impressive pile of rotted 2 X 4s and rotted OSB in my yard. (Since my roof was OSB, the repairs were also OSB and not plywood). -Mike's quote was the only one to address attic ventilation and included new vents on the south side of my roof. - Shingle Masters quote included squirrel guard painted to match vents and new shingles -- some other quotes didn't mention anything about squirrel guard. One company offer to add that to their quote for addtitional cost but not painted to match. -Wind mitagation paperwork and pictures were included in the quote for submission to my insurance company for a possible premium reduction. -MIke provided insurance paperwork. I called MIke on 2-17-2014 to set up a contract signing. We met on 02-21-2014. He scheduled my tear-off/re-roof for 3/3/2014. Dallas from the Shingle Masters office called me on 2-28-2014 to arrange dumpster delivery. They use a dumpster on wheels that fit in half of my 2-car driveway and still allowed me to get in and out of the garage. Some of the quotes/contracts I reveiwed cautioned that their dumpster might crack the driveway and the company would not be responsible for that. There was no such problem with the type of dumpster used by Shingle Masters. Dallas told me that work would begin at 7:00 am on 3/3/20014. The crew was on site a little before 7:00 on 3-3-2014 and got right to work. They started by spreading large blue tarps around the entire perimeter of my house to catch nails and debris and protect my plants and hedges. The tarps extended from the walls of my home out about 15 feet so there really wasn't a problem with nails or debris after the crew was done. From the time they started until the job was finished, there was constant work/hammering going on. Although Mike told me that his crew took a lunch break, it seemed from inside the house that they worked continuously. They finished the complete tear off, fixing rotted OSB and rafters, application of peel and stick underlayment and the entire re-roofing in one day. During their activities, I didn't hear a radio - something that was a bit of a problem in my neighborhood with a re-roof a month earlier by another company across the street from me. The company that did that one had a blaring radio running for 3 days. Several days after my roof was finished, a painter showed up to touch up a few areas of the stucco and remove a couple of marks on the fascia. We've had a couple of heavy rains since my new roof was finihsed and no problems. Mike set up an appointment to meet with me at my house on 3-14-2014 (after final inspection). At that meeting, he provided a lien release and photos on CD along with the wind mitagation paperwork to be submitted to my insurance company. We also walked around my property to assure that I was happy with everything. I hadn't paid a dime up to that point. The roof looks great and after the magnitized nail pickup used by the crew at the end of the day, I only found 2 nails in my yard. (My lawn guy was happy about that. He said that he's had multiple flat tires on his mower from customer re-roofings). The cleanup after the job was thorough. It was a good experience.
Description of Work: Replaced the roof on my 2000 square foot ranch home. After researching both GAF and Owens Corning shingles, I found that both companies offer extended lifetime warranties on shingles and workmanship, but only if you use manufacturer certified roofing companies and also include specific manufacturer products in the re-roofing. Since my previous GAF roof was only 14 years old and had needed multiple expensive repairs starting in year 6, I wanted a good warranty that covered both material and workmanship (especially to guard against the problems that could occur if the selected contractor goes out of business during the warranty period). On all of the repairs on my 14 year old GAF roof, I had been told that workmanship problems played a big part in my problems. I'd also been told that a large portion of my old GAF shingles had never sealed correctly. Fixing either ended up being my problem with the cash coming out of my pocket. Although there were cheaper roofing quotes (from non-certified contractors who offered at most a 5 year labor warranty), I only wanted to consider quotes from either GAF Master Elite certified contractors or Owens-Corning Platnium Preferred Contractors. Shingle Masters is both GAF Master Elite and Owens-Corning Platnium Preferred.
