Coastal Comfort Air Conditioning

I moved into a new home where the A/c units were in rough shape. They had never been cleaned or serviced. I called Coastal Comfort and they did a great job. They not only serviced my A/C units, they fixed the heating in one of the units (which they did for free as a bonus). They were professional, courteous, efficient and did their work at a fair price. What more can you ask for? These are my A/c guys from now on!

They did a very thorough job. They were on time, courteous, and professional. The person that came spent his time and checked everything. He also cleaned and dusted air conditioner.

The company is punctual and very professional. I will call them for any future needs.

One unit was extremely oisy and he quickly diagnosed the problem and provided a cost effective solution. That evening I checked the utility closet and found water all over the floor. I shut of the a/c system and called them first thing in the morning. The tech was back to my home within 20 minutes of the call found a fault water pump and promptly replaced it (it was 12 years old). A few hours later the tech called back to ensure everything was OK. In general, I found this company responsive, respectful of my time, and they offered cost effective solutoins. I would definitely use them again.

We had a coolant leak in our a/c coil that had been identified by another service provider. Our factory warranty on the coil was less than 1 month to expiration and Coastal was successful in facilitating a replacement coil at no cost to us. We paid only labor to have it installed, plus coolant. There was a 5 or 6 day delay due to ship time for the coil, but it was well wotht it to have the part covered under warranty. The service tech was professional, courteous, did a good job in a reasonable time, and letf the work area clean.

This repair took three visits to diagnose and to complete repair. First attempt to repair was on Wednesday, 10/31/2012. The tech put in 2 and a half hours and diagnosis was a bad board on the unit. Also on that visit, the tech did correct a problem on a separate zone thermostat which gave us heat downstairs. As for the upstairs zone's heat pump, that was the one still not working, A new board was ordered and was supposed to be installed the following day. I did not hear from anyone the next day. Late morning or so on Friday I called the company and was told the part was not in. Got a call early on Monday to say a tech would be out. He installed the new board but the problem persisted - still no heat. I had had this tech at the house before and knew he was one of their best techs. Well, it took him 3 hours to figure out what was wrong. I was informed the "thermal expansion valve" was bad. It was ordered, and I was told it would be installed the following Wednesday. Wednesday came and went with no one coming out or calling. Finally got a call on Friday that a tech was on the way to install the valve. The tech arrived and had the new valve in in short order. I was told all I had to pay for was for the 5 pounds of R410A refrigerant and solder. That seemed reasonable until I learned that the refrigerant is $35 per pound and solder was $18. Bill to replace the valve was $232 and the bill from the first day was $157.50 (after deducting half hour labor and applying Angie list discount to first hour) As much time as had been put into the job, I appreciated that the company was trying to keep the bill within reason. But talk about sticker shock on the refrigerant. I will let the reader of this be the judge as to how the job went. As for me, I will use this company again. They have installed two units for me and have been out to repair on a few occasions. They do try hard to satisfy the customer for the most part. You can be sure I have taken names - names of their best techs that is!! Seems that is key.

Such a great experience with Coastal Comfort. Lenny was so easy to work with from answering questions, visiting the property multiple times for layout questions, and overseeing the job from start to finish. Mike and Carlton were amazing to work with through the removal and installation process. They were cognizant of cleaning up after themselves and were able to problem solve for the best possible options when we ran into unforeseen issues with our attic space. Extremely professional and an easy pass by the city. Great company to work with and quality job. They may be on the pricey side but there is a reason...they do the job correctly!

I cannot recommend Coastal Comfort enough! My 87 year old mother's AC stopped working and after seven AC contractors (four of which came from Angie's List) I HAD to go with Coastal Comfort. Their customer service, from the very first phone call to the end of the job, was outstanding. Everyone at Coastal Comfort provided excellent service - from Tim and Tony (the owners) to Staci and Lori (in the office) to Mike and Carlton (who performed the work) they all displayed the epitome of professionalism! Tony, Mike and Carlton were so nice, patient, and courteous with my mom, I cannot thank them enough. The work was done promptly and her new AC works beautifully. One more important thing… all other contractors told me I needed to change the outside unit, Tony was the only one who did not try to sell me something we did not need at the time. The integrity of Tony and Coastal Comfort surpassed all my expectations. I wholeheartedly 100% recommend them. You cannot go wrong using them. My sincere thanks go to all of them!

We got an online deal for half off on an A/C cleaning. We scheduled an appointment with them, and the technician was very prompt. He checked the coils and did some cleaning, and gave me helpful information about caring for our A/C unit. He also noticed that our reusable filter was dirty and washed it out, and gave us a disposable filter to use until the other one dried completely. He was friendly and helpful. We would use them again.

Wow called to get AC work done. They answered and put me on hold then transferred me 3 times to the rudest person I think I have spoken to in years. She answered the phone "yeah" not Hello, Can I help you, Yeah... I needed the work done so went ahead and set a date for the next afternoon with Lenny and I asked her if they had a cancelation today that I would be at the house all day and he could come by. She copped a serious attitude "he is very busy and would not have time to do that he gives 2 hours per estimate and that would not happen" I said to her that all I was saying is that IF HE HAD A CANCELATION THAT I COULD SEE HIM TODAY THAT TOMORROW WOULD BE FINE. But she could not let it go, She was rude about the whole thing from the way she answered the phone to the conversation I told her that I didn't like her attitude and that she could cancel my appointment then she really got loud and would not let it go. I told her she didn't have to act like a B***h. That I would get someone else to do my work and hung up. She actually called be back 2 times to cuss me out and tell me I had mental issues.. WOW is all I can say not sure if she was having a bad/busy day but that is no way to talk to potential customer. I will not be using them to say the least.

We had our AC break down on a Friday night. I checked Angieslist and called Coastal Comfort. They were onsite within an hour. The unit was clogged and took 2.25 hrs to repair for a charge of $280 (since this was an after hours emergency visit, the work was more costly). NOTE-Always remember to use your Angieslist coupons...I forgot and would of saved $30 on the visit. Arley the service rep also noted that the AC coil needed cleaning badly, but was honest and said this wasn't critical for the evening emergency visit. He recommended us to call the next day to schedule this work which we did. They quoted us $475 on the phone for the AC coil cleaning since our unit is ceiling mounted and would need a 2nd man to do the job. On the 2nd visit, they came out on time and did the work perfectly...the final billed matched the estimate AND with my coupon, we saved an additional $22.50. I would highly recommend this company and plan on using them for any future AC issues.

They fixed what needed to be fixed in a short time. They were professional, they did what had to be done and I am very pleased. I will recommend them to friends and I will use them again if need.

Since the orginal company could not clean the coils when they came out, I was able to shop to see if I could find a better price and my first check was with Angie's List. Coastal Comfort had positive reviews so I called for an estimate and they quoted me $350 and I was able to set an appointment for the next day. The technician was well qualified, prompt, pleasant and respecitive in keeping my house tidy in the work area. He also surveyed my outdoor compressor and found a minor issue which he was able to fix for $36.00. I was very happy with the overal service and customer service of Coastal Comfort and would use them again.

The repairman was actually early; even called before he arrived to ask if it was OK to be early. He was very professional; was here a few hours; completely fixed the A/C. It has been nearly a month and it's still working fine; actually cooling better than it had been prior to breaking down. This company is very easy to deal with . . . setting up an appointment, billing/payment . . . and the repairman and the office staff were all very friendly.

My 1 year old high efficiency system installed by a different company and it was not cooling properly, despite several service attempts by the installing company (no names mentioned). I was so uncomfortable! Went thru a list of A/C companies who serviced my type of system and was fortunate enough to stop at Coastal Comfort's contact info. They sent someone out the next morning who, after a 5 minute review of my installer's instructions, completely understood how to reprogram the thermostat so that it worked the way it was intended to. The company that sold the unit to me and installed it couldn't figure it out. (Once they had my money, they didn't care to honor their 2 year installation warranty). But Coastal Comfort was outstanding; they were very fairly priced, extremely professional and responded quickly to my service request. I am typically somewhat critical of service providers and tend to expect a negative result, but this company was the best. I recommended them to my friends and neighbors. You will find them to be accommodating and knowledgeable

My expirence was extremely good, very happy with the handling & timing of the call and with Esdras the service man from Coastal Comfort that did the work.

They have the best price, they are very professional. They wear professional uniforms, always introduce themselves, and their office staff is always very friendly.

The service was really great. The maintence man "AL" was very thorough, knowledgeable, and professional in this work. He did good work and a very good job. As I watched him, he explained what he was doing and why. I got some very good maintence tips.

I own two condo's (about one mile from one another); the A/C units in each condo were not blowing cold; I called Coastal Comfort after finding them here on Angie's List. They came out the following day, did some work on each unit, & now they are working better / blowing cooler. I thought the price was a little high, but the truth of the matter is everything just seems high these days & they probably weren't much higher $ than other companies. Reason I am giving them some low scores: One of the A/C units is fairly old & needs some significant repair work in order to run efficiently / properly. I discusses with the repair guy who came out the pros & cons of repairing versus replacing, and he told me that someone from the office would call me & give me prices to a) repair the unit or b) replace it, and then I could make my own decision regarding what to do. A week later I still had not heard from them, so I called them & asked them about estimates to repair the unit & cost to replace it with brand new unit The woman on the phone said she'd check with someone, get prices and get back to me. Two weeks later & still no word! I find it interesting--here I am, ready & willing to spend money, but no one can be bothered to follow up! Business sure must be good for Coastal Comfort to be able to ignore customers like that . . .. I'm taking money & business elsewhere.

We got the Costal Comfort's name from a next door neighbor who had used them and were very happy with them. Although the office was a little slow to return our call, when we spoke with the installation supervisor, he set up an appointment immediately and was able to install a complete unit including including a new heating and airconditioning unit first thing the next day. We felt the price was fair and the service excellent and would use them when we need to update our own system in our home.

Aside from 1 rescheduling problem (they were short a man on our original job date, and had to push back a few days) it was smooth, professional, and well done. They showed up on time, assessed the job quickly, worked hard, asked questions when they needed, showed me what they did, and cleaned up afterwards. Very good experience.

Call Laurie, she sets all the appts, they sent Thomas out to see if the old ones were salvage-able, Lenny comes out to quote new units, permit gets ordered, installers come out. The whole process took less than 3 weeks and thats only b/c we had to wait for the house to close....they probably could have done it faster.

A/C stopped cooling. Spoke to Carol who had tech here the next day. She was great! Arranged a 2 hour window and then Carol called me to let me know tech would be there within 1/2 hour. Peter, the technician was able to complete the repair in about an hour. Highly recommend.

I contacted them to do maintenance call which they did very well and thoroughly. The next day the AC died and I called them back. They came in a couple of hours and found that a capacitor had blown; something they could not predict in the maintenance visit. They replaced the capacitor under warranty. Cost was $85 for the maintenance call and $80 for the repair call.

I was dismayed to find that they were going to charge me $124.00 for this service call. I had used this company for years and the charges had been $69 for this call. It had suddenly almost doubled. I complained and was told that I could sign a contract for service in the next 6 months and pay only $85 now and then again in 6 months, whether I needed the check up or not. I grudgingly opted for the $85. I am NOT pleased with this company and shall change to one on your recommended A List.
