Allied inspected our home before purchasing and (1) missed damaged roof tiles, (2) did not indicate that the front room lights were not working and that the lights were wired with cloth wiring, and (3) overlooked water damage on the walls in the dining room. These were all things quickly noticed by other professionals. We paid nearly $2,000 for inspections and we feel we did not get what we thought we were paying for. This all came to a head when our insurance agent would not insure the roof until it was fixed which cost us over $700. Allied admitted it was their fault about the tiles but only offered $400 as reimbursement. The worst part about dealing with this company is we feel they negotiated these matters in bad faith. Here is why: (1) During negotiations with our attorney, Allied has consistently misrepresented our words and clearly have not been interested in actually getting the correct information. Two examples just from the roof problem: (1) The previous owners a couple of years earlier had the home injected for termites. These injection points were easy to spot in the wall of the back patio area. We mentioned this when Allied came out to reinspect our complaint. Allied then ran with this comment to say that the roof tiles must have been broken when the house was "tented," although the house was never tented. In our opinion, this is not the actions of someone who wants to know exactly all of the facts. (2) Similarly, Allied has admitted that missing the cracked roof tiles is on them. Nevertheless, Allied came up with an arbitrary $400 to fix the roof instead of asking us how much it actually cost us to repair the roof. We had a limited time to get the roof fixed by a LICENSED roofing contractor. The insurance company also required a roof inspection report with pictures. The only company we could find that would schedule the repair on such short notice had a minimum fee. If Allied had truly wanted to make this right, all they would have needed to do was to ask us how much we paid and why it was this amount. No attempt on Allied's part was ever made to simply ascertain our costs for the roof repair.
