Needless to say I did not go with this company. If you do get a call from them, run the other way. It's just a waste of time.
Description of Work: My number was given to Safe Gaurd from an insurance company that I was getting a quote from. The appointment was rescheduled twice because the salesman was not availible. The salesman spent an hour & a half talking about drinking & trying to get my husband & I to go on his website for home improvemt contractors with his friends as the contractors. He said if I could recommend 12 poeple to safeguard my first year would be free. He never did give me a price on how much it would be if I didnt give hime 12 names & numbers. I also never got a price on how much the alarm system would cost after my first year free. He justed danced around the whole price issue & consintrated on getting 12 names. It all sounded very shaddy & I couldnt wait to get that man out of my house.

When it comes to the actual Safeguard Ameica company, the only thing they actually do is the sales, customer service and billing. So, this is where I had a horrible experience: First, about a year ago my credit card (which they had on file for auto-billing) was stollen and I didn't have the chance to call them and give the new number. So, they started calling my work doing collection calls only after ONE month of missed payments...all this with very nasty approach and tone. I resolved the situation by providing a new credit card number, thinking it is all over...just to find out that they had already placed a negative review on my credit report. My credit score is over 800 and I really take this personal. The next thing was after my 3 years contract was over, I couldn't wait to switch companies. So, I didn't renew the contract they sent me in the mail. I hired a new company meanwhile.....Again, just to find out that they automatically renewed my contract WITHOUT my consent or permission...for another 3 years. I am trying to get out of it, and I am having a terrible run-around with all kinds of characters in their customer service. I am just about to file a legal action against them. Advice: stay away from Safeguard America....as far as you can.
Description of Work: I bought a Safeguard America contract for alarm monitoring about 3 years ago. The quality of the actual service was OK - the monitoring is done by a third party company, so it couldn't go really wrong.

The system they installed was not one that would show point of activation as I had asked for. They insisted it was "state of the art". Later when it activated as a general alarm I asked why it had not shown a zone. They told me it was probably malfunctioning and they said I should schedule an appointment to have it checked. They knew it did not show zones when activated but they let me schedule an appointment at a charge of $94. The tech said there was nothing wrong and he explained the system did not show zone activations as I was led to believe by the salesman. I complained and the owner of the company said it would cost $400 to upgrade the system. He finally gave in and had the work done but he raised my monthly service $9, to $42. After the upgrade the system did not send out a signal to the monitoring station for the next six months and then it crashed. The manufacturer said the system had to be replaced and the company waited 4 weeks to order the new motherboard. It took an additional 2 weeks to get the part installed. The company then sent me a bill for the service, even though the system was warranteed. They later told me the bill was an error and to disregard it. A month later they sent the bill again with a late charge added and interest. This time they said I had to pay it. I was without coverage and they knew it for over 6 months and still had to pay the $42/mo. Even though I purchased my system they are holding me to a 3 year contract.

THEY WERE GOOD. WE HAVE USED THEM ON A COUPLE DIFFERENT HOUSES WE HAVE. THEY ARE PROMPT AND FRIENDLY. THE SALES MANAGER HAS DONE A BUNCH OF OUR RENTALS AND OFFICES BUILDINGS.
Description of Work: THEY PUT IN A WIRELESS ALARM ON THE DOOR AND MOTION SENSORS.

THEY ARE VERY GOOD. THEY CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO. AFTER THE HURRICANE I HAD NO WAY TO USE ELECTRICITY. THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME EXTRA FEES SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO USE MY ALARM SYSTEM. THEY HAVE BEEN VERY GOOD.
Description of Work: I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ALARM GOING OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. THEY TRACED IT TO A PROBLEM WITH THE PHONE LINE AND NOT THE ALARM SYSTEM.
