Terrible scam of a company. I have the fire department report citing negligence re the shoddy work causing my home to almost burn down! I started requesting thru home warranty in August and it is now December. They believe they do not have any responsibility because the warranty co hires them. Kind of a monopoly so they don't need private business. I have contacted an attorney who will assist me in this matter. Firefighter stated I should contact an attorney...that is bad. Better Business Bureau has been notified and know this company is reckless, unresponsive and completely unqualified. Stay far away from Total Air Care, inc.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! Do not waste your time or money! “0 STARS” Due to faulty and negligent work, the technician did not replace a safety mechanism properly which caused major water damage to my ceiling (AC unit in attic) and now the company refuses to take responsibility for their actions. Manager (Mike) stated that I did not see him being negligent and can not prove he did not replace it correctly so not responsible. The damage occurred in a matter of hours after the tech “temporarily fixed” my AC to last a few days before the new part arrived. I now have no AC and a warped, bubbled, and brown spots on my ceiling in a new house. This company needs to take responsibility for their tech’s actions. They deserve a “negative” star! They have numerous complaints with the BBB and several other sites. Please be cautious and DO NOT use this company!

This is our experience with Total Air Care and AHS warranty: We realize on 6-8-20 that our ac was not cooling and I went to take a look at it and I noticed fan was in a bind.(Not Spinning). We called the warranty company they sent out a tech named: CJ on 6-9-20 He was a very nice professional young man. He said it was the Compositor and we were 1lb low on Freon. He had everything on the truck got it spinning again. Well it never cooled, so we scheduled another services request. Which was on 6-10-20 it was Cj again and he said the compressor was overheating and he cooled it with a water hose and said that will fix it. Pressure was 125/300 when he left. That did not work either so we called for the 3rd time on 6-11-20. 6-11-20 Elijah shows up and he was amazing and very explained everything that was wrong and how we have to see what the insurance company would approve a new ac or a new compressor. The compressor was bad and he spotted it quickly. A few days go by and we have not heard back so we called the warranty company they said they approved a compressor and Total Air Care should be in contract with a install date, because they had to order the part. A few more days go by and they call and scheduled us for 6-24-20. Great we are getting our ac fixed in time for my family to come into town with their two kids one of them being 8 weeks old. Well come 6-24-20. They can not come in the Morning because a lot of their techs called out sick.Per Kurt. They could not reschedule our install until 6/26/2020. I thought if your employees call in sick and miss an appointment you would push back your other appointments and go to your first appointment after all we have not had ac since 6-8-20. 6/26/20 Kurt shows up I am sweating my butt off working from home as well as my wife. He replaces the compressor and the work order states added Freon. Since that day my house has not been below 81 degrees and it’s running full speed on 65 degrees. I called the emergency number on Saturday no call back called the warranty company on Sunday they said they will have them call us 1st thing Monday and it would be urgent. They called as promised and said they will send a senior tech out on Tuesday 6-30-20. No one is available today. Again I Think returning clients should come first when their repairs are not fixed correctly the day before. My sister and my niece 8 weeks old and Nephew 11 years old show up to a hot house Sunday it hit 87 degrees. However I feel compelled to let everyone know the type of service they provide and how much they care when they did not fix the problem on 4 different service calls. I understand working with warranty and ac’s breaking daily how it would be tough to get someone out same day, but we called the emergency line Saturday because your compressor fix failed to work. I personally would steer clear of this company and call a local company that I trust. It’s not my call with the insurance company calling the shots, but hopefully they will make it right and get somebody out here ASAP not tomorrow or I am going to have to rent a hotel room for my Brother and Sister due to my 8 week old niece being here. Respectfully, Josh Belcher 3371 Crestview Ln Gulf Breeze, FL 32563 (850)-982-3399

This is the 3rd time the compressor has broken this year on a 7 year old AC (they always tell me the unit is old and I need a new one, but I've lived in placed with 20 year old units). I have a home warranty company and they will only go thru Total Air Care. First time it went out in March, they charged $650 for Freon and it worked for 4 months. It broke again in July and again they charged $650 for the Freon (the warranty company agreed to pay it that time). This time, the compressor worked less than 2 months (broke in late July) and they are demanding another $650 for Freon. They either aren't installing the compressor correctly or they are intentionally scamming me. Either way, I will tell anybody and everybody who will listen NOT to use Total Air Care.

First time I used them it took 2 months to resolve. This time after 2 missed appointments due to their error and over 30 minutes with rude customer service that had an attitude, I said forget it. They actually went from they could come this afternoon to they couldn't come until saturday after young miss supervisor got mad. That is far from customer service. They have a D rating on BBB.

Terrible! This company came out to my home to fix my A/C unit in April. They supposedly fixed it but it went out again for the same issue. They didn’t do the job right the first time or the unit would not have went out again 3 mos later. Also when the technician came out the second time he left a piece of the A/C in the grass. Both times they worked on my unit we have been without air in this Florida weathe currently it’s been 2 weeks with no air with 3 kids in my home. This company is horrible, unprofessional don’t use them if you want you A/C to stay working!

What an awful experience! Never hire these scammers! So here's what happened. It was super hot and humid in Orlando so we were running our HVAC and found the upstairs unit to be dripping water considerably. On Feb 18, I contacted our home warranty company, American Home Shield (AHS), and prepaid the $75 service call fee, to have a service person sent to fix our Trane HVAC unit that was dripping from the cracked float switch connection. AHS emailed that Total Air Care (TAC) from Middleburg (not from Winter Park) would contact me in 48 hours. TAC contacted me the next morning, which was awesome, but they said they couldn't look at my unit until afternoon of Feb 27... which was 6 calendar days after my initial call. (It ended up being SUPER hot and humid in Orlando that week.) TAC later called with an opening on Sunday, Feb 25. YAY! (4 cal days after my initial call, but better than the planned 6 days. And service on a Sunday!) The tech, Leonard Malcolm, arrived close enough on time and I showed him the cracked float switch. He didn't even open the handler to look at the unit or check any lines! He went to his truck and said he was calling someone. The quote to fix included $500 for freon! I had read that this is a typical scam because freon can be captured and reused, and asked if they could capture and reuse. He said he called someone and then said they could do it, but it wouldn't be covered under warranty if something broke. (This really scared us as it made us think they might break our unit on purpose so they could come back to repair again.) He also quoted $295 for a UV light and $400 for anti-microbial coating of handler return to prevent mold. (Remember that he hadn't even looked into the unit.... and we later found we already had an anti-microbial lining built into the return! Scam!) He asked if he could go outside and see our a/c units. Once outside, he asked me to go upstairs and turn on the broken one, which I did. (I later found that he had put TAC service stickers on all parts of the a/c units as if we might call them by mistake. Hope he didn't do anything else!) He said that someone will call me to schedule the repair, handed me the write up, and left. I was super concerned about this encounter and, in addition to family, we had 5 friends visiting and sleeping upstairs for 6 days, so the next day/Monday, I called another provider who came out SAME DAY, looked at the OUTSIDE & INSIDE of the unit, and said we needed a new drip pan which costs $676 from Trane, but that we didn't need any freon (because they reused what they captured from our system), nor anti-microbial coating (because we already had some sort of felt anti-microbial coating!) They ordered the repair part, had it shipped, and installed it by Friday... sadly, at the end of our friends' visit. Still no contact from TAC or AHS during this sweltering time. Finally, on March 5 (day 12), AHS left me a voicemail stating that they rejected our claim since it's not normal wear and tear. Lucky for us I had already had this repaired as TAC and AHS would have left us sweltering and miserable for no reason. Had we not used TAC and AHS, we would have had our unit repaired on Day 4. Had we decided to wait to hear from TAC/AHS the best case would have been repair on Day 16, assuming we used our own provider. We never should have used TAC nor AHS. Sure, we wasted a $75 on TAC service fee, but we're more upset about wasting days sweltering in the heat and humidity! I hope others can learn from our mistake. Oh, and have a HVAC maintenance contract so you don't have problems when you really need the HVAC to be working!

Total Air Care came to our home within one week of hurricane after calling our home warranty company to schedule for repairs to our home air conditioner. The work was professionally analyzed and parts ordered. OEM parts were used at our request. The repairs were timely upon receipt of the parts, and we are very happy with the results. Our home is cool again.

We have warranty coverage and AHS assigned this terrible company to address the issue May 22nd. We had air for one day before the temperature began to rise. I made a service request through AHS evening of 26th and we did not get a call from Total (without air, don't care) company until that Tuesday. They showed up on the first of June and said we had a slow leak and the freon was completely empty (R-22). Of course I questioned the validity because the a/c was working fine previously and now we have a slow leak from that Monday to let's say the Wednesday in the same week. We had a "senior" technician come out and it was an alleged service valve to the freon that had to be replaced. Low and behold the cold air lasted two days, so another call to AHS and we insisted they send someone else. We were told the other company should never have changed our refrigerant out to a cheaper one ($65 lb versus R-22 $85lb). Also found out the leak is actually inside the unit, so more Freon is needed once resolved. Please run don't walk away from this company! It appears they are using inexperienced technicians to address problems and this is going to be a costly problem for you in the end.

Total Air Care provides "service" for American Home Shield warranty. They are terrible. Every time you call, a minimum 30 minutes on hold. 6 service calls so far, still not fixed. Today was the 7th. Waited 48 hours for "expedited service", and the tech never showed up. No call, no nothing. Their call center agents absolutely refuse to escalate. You cannot get to a manager, I've left my number several times and NEVER got a call back. Their executives are hidden away. There is no customer care number. Website has a customer service email address, that works just like leaving a message for a supervisor...emails are not answered. Service rep comes out and is focused on getting out as fast as possible. Different rep every visit. Fix one part at a time. We've been without air for over 30 days. We finally hired another contractor to do what Total Air Care should have had done on DAY 1. I cannot give them a low enough rating.

I filed a home owner warranty claim with 2-10, who assigned it to Total Air Care. My tenant arranged with TAC to come out Friday between 4 and 8 PM. TAC called by me and tenant to confirm he was on the way about 5:30. He never showed up, no phone call to either of us. Phone calls to TAC were shunted to "we are closed for the weekend". The HOW copay for this would have been $100. Since my tenant had no working toilet, I had to call another service, who came out on Sunday and did a great job, but it cost me $182. It wasn't until the following Wednesday that TAC got around to calling us back, no apology, just "missed call, call us back to reschedule." My email to their customer service that Friday offering them a chance to make it right was never answered.

Sent by American Home Shield Home Warranty. Have used on prior service calls and consider Total Air Care a preferred service company (Do not allow AHS to send at least two other HVAC service companies).

Technician was professional and competent. He was on time. Quickly diagnosed and fix system (required a part to be replaced - part was on truck).

This provider serviced my old AC and then replaced it with a new Rheem system,. The system failed from the beginning requiring  multiple service calls. I stopped using them when they said they would no longer come out without charging a service fee.
Within a couple years, almost every significant component of the system was replaced at least once. Rheem was wonderful at covering parts and assisting in the process. Multiple technicians including the local HVAC college instructor linked the issues to faulty installation. I recently had the outdoor unit completely replaced by another company and now things work fine. The coils of the indoor unit were also replaced by another company. It has cost me nearly $15,000 to have working air in my home thanks to the experience with Total Air Care.

He ripped me off. They apparently and they allegedly put some Freon in the air conditioning unit. They told me it was fine. It subsequently broke down and we replaced it with another company. They sent two different people out to fix a problem that was never fixed. It was a total mess. The guy came back from the same company to badmouth the company. He told me he was there to fix what he was supposed to fix the time before. He turned out to have been fired. It was a mess. They were horrible. Beware!

First technician gruff and unhelpful. did not want to answer my questions. seemed to want to collect $60, say nothing wrong
while equipment still not working but yet would not recommend replacement. Technician was not competent to repair
item he was sent to repair. 2nd technician better and recommended repairs but never authorized to do them. then this
technician showed back up at my door to fix the repairs and then I found out he had apparently been fired after he started
the work! it was a mess & I didn't know who to believe. I would never use this group again and neither should you.

Total Air Care should be named Total Don't Care.  They came out to our gulf
front condo on May 5th, July 5th and July 28th. Our guest were complaining that the unit would not stay cool.  The first time they said it was a stopped up drain line.  On the second visit it was a rusted out drain pan which would have nothing to do with it not cooling. The unit finally went totally out.  We
have AHS insurance so we had to wait for them to approve the new
unit.  It took AHS forever to get the info from them.  Total AIr always took
at least 5 days to a week between anything they did!  Then, after 18 days of
waiting and losing 3 weeks of rental income during peak season, we were starting over because AHS sent the wrong unit!! I don't know which company, AHS or Total Air, was at fault because neither cared about our extreme situation.  Meanwhile, my housekeepers went to the unit and found mold had developed on the carpeting, tile and even on furniture!  I broke down in tears at this point because of all the stress. We called All American Air right after we found out about the mold on Sunday August 11th and they came out and installed a new unit the very next day August !2th!  Using Total Air Care was a Total Nightmare!!

I called their office and got a recording that said to leave a message if it was an emergency.  No one called me back.  I have a homeowners' insurance policy through Total Protect who uses this company and I called back the next morning.  They got Sarah on the line from Total Air Care and I told her that my air conditioner was still not working.  All she said was "We'll have to reschedule you for next week."  The day I called was Friday.  That meant all weekend in 85 degree temperature at my home.  I called back to Total Protect and they called Total Air Care and said that they could come out tomorrow (Saturday) but they couldn't tell me when they would be here.  Not even a 4 hour window.  I rescheduled with Global Cooling and they are coming out tonight to fix the ac.  I called Sara's supervisor, Nicole, and she gave me the same "Oh well, too bad, so sad" attitude so I called and spoke to "Miss Wendy" who asked me to tell her what the situation was.  I began to explain it to her and she interrupted and proceeded to tell me she had somone in her office and she would have to look over the details of the technician's visit and get back with me and then began to berate me when I complained that she took my call but didn't have time to hear what the problem was (even after she asked me to explain it).  I was shocked at the way she spoke to a customer.  She then left a message on my work phone that they would come out tomorrow and to call their office to schedule the appointment.  I called back and she wouldn't speak to me so I told the receptionist to tell "Miss Wendy" she may want to talk to her staff before making appointments because I had already cancelled them through Total Protect and rescheduled with another company.  The technician did not fix my problem and no one in their office apologized.  They were rude, inappropriate, and very unprofessional.

My house has a split-system setup, and the smaller unit that cools the upstairs was fritzing out on me.  I was visited by this company through American Home Shield.  It took SIX VISITS from five technicians to figure out that my compressor was bad and to get it replaced.  That is six half-days of waiting for the technician to arrive!  Spending the equivalent of three day's time waiting for my A/C to be repaired was not a good experience (nor is having a 94-degree reading on the thermometer in a large part of my house for a month while this drawn-out process played out!)
The first tech didn't ring my doorbell until 10:00PM, which is simultaneously good and bad.  After being told he would arrive by 6PM I was not happy that it was so late, but was impressed that he was there at such a late hour.  He took a pound of freon out of my system and said I would be good for a long time to come.  It was not to be!
The second visit?s tech said he balanced my freon levels.
The third visit?s tech replaced the compressor fan.
When my system still wasn't working correctly I complained to American Home Shield, who said they would have a supervisor come out.  I never saw nor heard from any supervisor?perhaps that message was not received?
The fourth visit?s tech replaced the kick-starter.
The fifth visit?s tech (who happened to be the same tech  from the second visit) finally diagnosed a bad compressor.  That had to be ordered, which took another couple weeks to get in.
The techs were all courteous, so kudos on that regard.  I'm mostly disappointed that they were not able to figure out the problem until the fifth visit, and each time I called to complain it was always one or two business days later before they would come back to my house (I called once on Thursday, and they couldn't return until Monday).  I would have hoped that by the
third callback I would be more of a priority.  Not so.
The final tech who replaced the compressor said that the wrong size kick starter was installed, which he corrected.  I also doubt
that the fan needed replacing because it consistently worked, even though I wasn't getting cold air inside.  It was the compressor all along, which I suspected because it made such strange, strained buzzing sounds.  I showed a video of this to the techs, who didn?t find it helpful I suppose.
As a side note, their web site says that they use booties when coming inside to help keep my floor clean.  None of them used booties.
My A/C is now working consistently, so I'm pleased about that.  The biggest disappointment was that it took so many visits to get this done right.

UPDATE 05/2014: The A/C went out again.  Because I was fed up with American Home Shield as well as this company, I called a competitor regarding the repairs.  I was very happy with this new company (Powell) and will use them going forward.
