First, all work began as promised and on-time but by the end of the day, the situation began to spiral out of control. By the end of the first day, the first two trees were down and the canopy was raised. The job appeared to be going as planned and before the owner left for the day he approached me and requested that I advance more money as he needed it in order to secure a hauler to remove all the tree debris along with the stump grinding of the one tree stump in the front the following day. I had already paid the owner one half of the total quoted for the job but he requested the rest of the money citing his need for money to secure the hauler and complete the job. I went ahead and gave him the requested amount and he departed stating that he would return in the morning to complete the job. The next morning, he returned but there was a problem with the tree climber (I was told by the owner that the climber had went out on a drinking binge the night prior and he was too hung over to be climbing a tree). The owner then told me he would attempt to find another climber which he did and thus the remaining two trees were cut. Everyday for the next week, I would return home to find the same mess in my yard, the trees that were cut were lying just as they had fallen and my yard looked like a hurricane had passed through! I could barely walk out my front door for the debris. Attempts to contact the owner were made and answered with the same promise and apology, "I am sorry for the inconvenience. I will be there to clean up and have the tree hauler remove all the trees and debris tomorrow." The owner finally showed up and had picked up the limbs and debris and piled them into three huge mounds on three sides of my home and they were hanging into the street and the neighbors yard area. The hauler never appeared and more calls to the owner were met with an answering machine. After another week of attempts to resolve the situation with the owner, a hauler contacted me and stated he had been contacted by the owner of Cutters Above to remove my debris but he did not do so as the owner owed him for past jobs he had done and was not paid for. He also informed me that Cutters above had done the same thing to other home owners in the area recently. He even offered me the phone numbers and addresses to check his claims. I ended up having to pay out of pocket another 500 dollars to remove the debris. My yard suffered damage as the debris piled up had damaged the grass. Needless to say, I feel I was mislead (scammed) and I reported the business to the BBB. Also, the business has since had their phone disconnected.
Description of Work: Raise canopy and cut down 4 trees with removal of all debris. Also one tree in the front yard was to have stump grinding to remove the roots and stump.
