One call and they came out within one hour and repaired the unit . It was a bad part from trane and not from the installers. The owner came out to inspect the system himself witch shows he cares about the service not just making money.

+ -1 moreThe easiest thing to say is that this was a professional job from start to finish; beginning with the estimate, the explanation and review of the products and the three day install . The city permit requirements and the FPL rebate forms were all handled by Durham including setting up the inspection appointment with the City Inspector. The contact between their office and our home regarding setting up the install dates and the calls to let us know the technicians were on their way was appreciated. It was obvious from the start that the Technicians knew what they were doing. They were pleasant and professional in every way and the completed job shows it. They always cleaned up at the end of the day and at the end of the job itself.
Description of Work: Install complete 16 Seer AC system consisting of a 2.5 ton Trane XR 15 outdoor unit and a Trane Hyperion variable speed indoor Air Handler.

+ -1 moreI called, Vince estimated,I said that sounded like a fair price. The office staff proceeded to do all that was required to obtain the proper permits, including contacting my landlord. When all paper work was complete the office staff worked with my schedule to complete the work with the least interuption to my business. On the day of the installation, Vince showed up on time. The job was completed in the time frame we had agreed on. The outlets are installed where I wanted them and work just fine. A couple days later the inspector came, inspected the work and bought it off, no problems.
Description of Work: Added 2 220V outlets to my restaurants kitchen for equipment I'm adding.

+ -1 moreThey were very, very good. They were thorough. Their inspection surpassed anyone else that I had had come in. I had 2 or 3 other companies come in. They really took the time to look at everything, including the ducts. They were excellent. I chose them because of their professionalism and the fact that they sat down with us and discussed the options we had. At the time there was a government credit and they made sure we got it. They were just superior. They were a little more expensive than some, but the guarantee that came along with it are what really sold me. That and their professionalism. I would give them an A across the board.

+ -1 moreI had Durham install an AC unit on another house and was very pleased. So used them to trouble shoot a pool heat pump. The tech came out and found a relay failed. He got that replace and siad everything was ok, even though I pointed out the water pipe was not getting hot. He stated I wouldn't be able to tell buy just touching it!!! Well, you sure can tell, as after giving him the benefit of the doubt and paying the bill, the heast pump never worked!!!!!! The water going in, was as cold as the water coming out. $228 down the drain!!!! Since writing this review, the owner of the company called to discuss the problem. He stated the suspect tech, was no longer with them and he was determined to make ammends. They returned the price of the materials spent. I was very impressed with his desire to satisfactorily rectify the situation. He agreed that I shoul dhave been advised not to try to repair this old heat pump. So I ended up just paying for a standard ser4vcei call. All is well and I can now upgrade from F to A

+ -1 moreWhen they came out for the estimate, they were on time, courteous, and gave actual estimates of time and expense. When i called to make the appointment to have the work done, the office personnel was friendly, had knowledge that they had been out and done the estimate and had the paperwork readily available. On the day scheduled for the work to be done, the gentleman who did the estimates came to do the work, so i didn't have to explain again, where, what, etc. He was on time, did the work quickly, neatly, and before he left, asked if we had any other questions, or problems for him to address. Very nice experience!
Description of Work: removed 3 old fourescent fixtures in a closet. Had to install 3 electrical wire boxes, and 3 new fixtures.

+ -1 moreThe complete job from start to finish went extremely well. The team worked for 3 days, did a great job and were very neat and tidy.
Description of Work: We had a complete AC system installed. The Durham crew removed our existing AC unit, added more cement to our existing slab outside, installed a french drain, removed and rebuilt the platform for the unit in the garage to sit on, installed a new pipe that went up and through our attic and through wall to the unit outside. Our new AC was installed, including a new thermostat and we also had some duct work reinforced.

+ -1 moreThe electrician 'verbally" quoted a very high price for work that I thought could be done for about half of what he said. After a phone call and a lengthy discussion on his 'verbal quote', he said he would come back and look things over again. I asked him to submit a bid in writing, but I never heard from him again. This was disappointing and unprofessional. I am not sure how this company was able to get such a high rating. Maybe I just got the wrong electrician sent to our property, but after this experience, I won't use them again. By the way, I did get another quote and it was half the price that Durham's electrician quoted for the same work. Glad I got other bids. Update 03/13/13: This is a f/u to an unfavorable review I posted for Durham & Sons. One of the owners called me and apologized for what happened to me. I was assured that my situation was not 'normal' and they will address the situation. I appreciated the call.

+ -1 moreThe workers were very aware that they were in our home and kept their tools, etc right with them. This was a 5-day job. We had company after the third day. When they left that evening, there was no evidence that AC installers had been at work,for 3 days here.
Description of Work: Durham and Sons wasn't the cheapest estimate we received, but they were by far the best AC company we've ever used. And living in Florida 40+ years means we've used many. Each morning we received a call notifying us the installers were on their way. They were polite, worked professionally and did things other AC companies didn't. For example, a French drain was dug so water wouldn't sit on ground surface. Each day they cleaned up after themselves. Upon completion of the job, they actually left the area in better shape that they found it. We are confident recommending Durham and Sons and will,use them again when the time comes.

+ -1 moreOutstanding! I incorporated everything in the review above. (Services performed as well as how it went overall). Bottom line, I received everything Durham and Sons promised me at the specified price with a quality that exceeded all of my wildest expectations. I actually received more services that I contracted for at no extra charge. For example, they improved my fence around my outside air conditioner - this was not their job.
Description of Work: First, RJ looked at my 3 month old air handler installed by another company. It had leaks at the coils and RJ quickly determined the work was shoddily done without a permit. He did a 3 page write-up as to exactly what was done improperly, to include faulty wiring that could have burned my house down or electrocuted someone. Also, he determined the unit was obsolete. With all the information he gave me, I was quickly able to get a full refund for this faulty air handler from the previous company. Having said this, RJ's 2 man crew very competently replaced our entire AC unit. They poured a new slab, removed our old units and installed new, top of the line 17 SEER Trane units (air handler and the outside unit). They showed us how to get the best performance out of the equipment and came back to seal the ducts once we found out that needed to be done as well. I received a 10 year warranty on all parts with 12 years on the compressor. I also received a 10 year extended warranty on labor. I received over a $1000 discount thru FPL for this work as well as another $134.00 from FPL for new ductwork. Overall, I have never seen such quality work done in my lifetime. Their work is something to be admired. They poured the new slab for the outdoor unit to sit on, then prepared a french-type drain for the outside drainage pipe. They finished the air handler unit in the garage to look like a finished wall. RJ is a man of integrity. He will do exactly what he says he will do at the specified price. He will come in and crawl around in your attic and all over your house to ensure he recommends the right product for you. By the way, did I mention he is a master electrician and they he sits on a county board that handles disputes with contractors? RJ loaned us 2 air conditioner units while his expert staff worked non-stop for 4 days to do the best job possible. Even the FPL guy who came to inspect the job said it was the best job he had ever seen. He said he had never seen a French Drain done for an AC unit - ever. He just shook his head in admiration for the work and quickly left. Ditto for the the Satellite Beach code inspector. The only thing I don't like is the fact that I now must upgrade my garage so that it's appearance matches the quality and beauty of the Trane air handler as installed by Durham and Sons LOL! They finished the unit in the garage to look like a finished wall. Everything works beautifully and looks great. I would recommend this company to everyone I know. They are professional and courteous and really look out for your best interest as a customer and person.

Description of Work: My A/C ducts had developed serious leaks in the ceiling and were approximately 50 years old. I contacted FPL and 2 other companies for quotes of work that needed to be done. RJ , with Durham & Sons checked all of the inside vents,outside A/C unit and was very thorough in identifying some issues as he walked through. He knew his business and what was required to do a great job over the other companies.He just seemed more professional. He even found a hidden vent in my kitchen that other companies that provided quotes didn't locate. When Tyler and Clayton pulled out all of the deteriorated and existing duct work in the attic, they kept up with cleaning any messes they made each day. Both young men were pleasant and congenial to have working in my home. They were also understanding about not upsetting or disturbing my indoor cats. After all the work was completed RJ walked through the house and made sure that all that he had promised was done to his specifications. I found that Tyler and Clayton, and RJ had integrity which is important. They had a good work ethic, good attitudes, and cared about doing the job properly.

+ -1 moreOur 13 year old air conditioner died and we purchased a replacement from Durham and Sons. We got 4 estimates from different providers. RJ's estimate fell in the middle. We chose him based on the product he was offering, the price, the Angie's list reviews, the fact that he was willing to come out to see us in the evening so that we didn't have to take time off of work, and the fact that he was the only person who came out for the estimate who actually crawled around in the attic to take a look at the ductwork and pointed out that our dryer vent was no longer connected to the roof and was spreading lint all over the attic (a fire hazard). -- We had him fix that too. It took 4 full days to complete the installation because we had to move the whole system over by a foot which meant rebuilding the plenum and the box on which it sat. I appreciated that they loaned us a window a/c unit since it would have been miserably hot in the house without it. The job they did was beautiful. Even the FPL guy who came to inspect the duct work said it was the "prettiest" box he'd ever seen. Everything was neat and tidy and professionally done. And the Trane system we chose works great. I was very pleased with the the whole thing. It was rather expensive but I suspect there isn't much one can do about that unless you buy a piece of junk. The ethernet wiring job was an add on that we threw in figuring that we already had people in the attic anyway, we might as well run the wires too. It was a bit of a challenge because the wires originated in a room which had been added on to the house so there was no attic and the wires had to be run over the original concrete block exterior wall. But with the conduit they installed, we'll be able to run new wires if necessary in the future and now my TVs (and xbox) have a direct connection to the router. I felt that the wiring cost was a bit high but the job was well done.
Description of Work: Replaced central air conditioner, routed dryer vent to the exterior and ran ethernet wiring.
