We couldn't be more pleased with the performance of this dual softner system (K-Q51) we purchased in 2003. The installation in 2003 was done promptly and professionally for the stated cost and has worked flawlessly for the past 9 years. Within the first two months of occupancy in 2003 without a softner, our stainless steel dishwasher became clouded with a hard white film and our expansive glass shower enclosure was spotted and difficult to clean. Within a month of the Kinetico system installation, the treated water resulted in the stainless steel dishwasher "cleaning itself" and the glass shower enclosure spotless. We have experienced NINE YEARS of trouble free operation. We followed the recommended rebedding which was done in 2007 and 2012. Our experience with Superior Water Conditioning has been excellent beginning with the initial sales consultation, the installation, and two rebedding services.
Description of Work: We purchased a Kinetico system for our new home in 2003. The system requires rebedding the charcoal tanks approximately every 5 years and this service call in February 2012 was the second such service in NINE YEARS. And that has been the only service our system required. The service technician arrived on time and explained thoroughly what he was going to do. He dissassembled the tanks, removed the expended charcoal, rebedded and completely rinsed the new charcoal, and reassembled the tanks. After reassembly was completed, he thoroughly retested the system, taking the time to run several cycles to ensure any fine grain charcoal was completely purged, as well as verfying proper performance. He left the work site totally clean.

When we first bought our home, I called Superior Water Conditioning to ask them to send someone to our home to teach me how to operate and maintain the system. Rather than charge me for the service call, the office manager offered to explain to me over the phone how to care for the water softener. He patiently described each valve, tank, and chemical until I was comfortable with the system. I have often joked that he could talk me through repairing the space shuttle, not because the water softener is so complex, but because I am not handy with this sort of thing. The entire staff has always been friendly and helpful to my family. They have always taken the time to explain the mechanism to me, and to help me maintain it efficiently.
Description of Work: We bought our home eight years ago with an existing Kinetico water softener purchased by the original owner. Over the years we have had service calls to handle minor maintenance issues. Our service calls have always been handled promptly and by courteous professionals. The office staff have also been extremely helpful and friendly both on the phone and in person when we stop by the store to purchase chemicals. The employees at Superior Water Conditioning and the Kinetico product have transformed the orange, smelly well water into clear, clean water for our home.

I thought that they were overpriced. At one time they sent out a guy who really didn’t know what he was doing and I sort of learned enough about the system that I could keep it up myself rather than dealing with a nightmare. Their tags were on everything as they had installed it and I had no one else to call and I could not find an alternative. I will try not to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Superior Water Conditioning for water softeners. I used them several times. They are right up the street and they installed the stuff 15 years ago when we built the house.

If they can't make an appointment successfully, they probably don't provide very good service.
Description of Work: This company has lousy customer service. I called on Monday to report that my water system required service. The "earliest" appointment would be Friday (5 DAYS!!!). Customer service informed me the charge for service would be $98...billing will be increments of 15 minutes. I agreed (wondering if I could stand the odorous, discolored water for an entire week) to a Friday service call. Customer service informed me that a service person would contact me on Friday morning at 8:30 am to give me a "2 hour window" for the appointment. On Friday, I called their office at 9:00 am and was informed "The guys are making their routes now. They'll call you when they have you scheduled." I never received a call from the service technician. I can't imagine they do so much business that they can simply ignore a minimum $98 service call...but I won't be calling them again!!!

I would refer them to others. They were prompt and they were very thorough in explaining what they did. They answered my questions effectively. They worked quickly and only charged me for the part they replaced and the house call. They were honest.

Overall our experience was good, with a couple of small missteps. Initially we called after hours and the recording suggested we call back during business hours, although you could leave a voice mail if you wish and someone would call you back. After waiting until afternoon the following day and getting no return phone call I finally called them. A friendly person answered the phone and they quickly scheduled an appointment for the next day. The service technician arrived on time and was polite, (albeit a little scruffy). He quickly performed the service in a professional manor. He showed us where our unit was old and may fail soon, and gave us a piece of paper explaining our options on either revamping our existing system or upgrading. He let us know someone from the company would be calling to discuss our options. I got the feeling this was part of a sales pitch the company required to up-sell. The technician was not hard sell and without really saying it inferred we could get by with what we have until it failed. Overall he seemed like a honest guy that did a good job. Overall our experience was good...not great. The reason we hired Superior is because we have a Kinetico system and they are the only provider in the area. If I had another system I probaly would have hired someone from the list with a higher rating. That being said the overall did a good job and I will use them again.

Their salt delivery service arrived and the driver was very courteous and clean. The delivery was done in a very efficient manner and there was no mess leftover when he was done. Clean and efficient.
Description of Work: This company has given us great service for over 20 years. We have had their equipment forever and use their salt delivery service. They keep us on schedule and we never have that nasty hard water in the house due to their deligence and care.

We have not had a single service call in 4 years!!! Love that alone. I got tired of hauling bags, so now they also come out and refill our tank with salt, which I also love. I feel the price is very reasonable - $13.87 for a 50# bag. We recently had a disagreement about a service call charge on the salt delivery, which we had stopped and started again. After several months of asking and not getting help from the billing dept. I finally called Ken the owner. He said they do charge if you want a delivery before your normal route delivery day and if you need less than 3 bags, and apparently mine held just less than 3. But, he agreed to remove the service charge. Yes it would have been nicer to not deal with that so long. But, it's fixed and I am happy. I think if you are nice to folks and give them a chance to make things better, they will usually do it.
Description of Work: After years of suffering with incompetent service on our RainSoft system because the repairmen either did not know our model (which was top of the line RainSoft and we brought it from another area so they were unfamiliar with it), or they were using non standard parts they could pick up cheaper at Home Depot. We finally broke down and once again looked to make the best quality purchase we could find. I am very very happy with the decision we made to go with Kinetico. We were given the option to purchase this brand or another brand and save $$, but choose to go with a name we knew. We felt the option was very clear and we made sure to look at what we were signing. They installed where we wanted it, partially buried in the yard. It's a nice looking unit.

Ours is an old (53) house. We weren't even sure where the water entered the house from the main on the curb. After we decided to go ahead, we realized that the access point was on the other side of the house from where they thought it was. Superior volunteered to re-route the main from the street to the desired access point. This involved diging a 50 foot trench from the St to the house. They kept the original quote. The system is great. We recommend this crew/ company highly.
Description of Work: Installed a whole house water conditioning system. What a difference. This is virtually a maintenance free system that doesn't require electricity (timers, etc.) to perform. They were very professional in the entire process. The original sales presentation was clear and professionally delivered.

This is the WORST company I have ever done business with in my entire life. We paid for a Kinetico water softener, tannin unit, chlorine injection system, and an under the sink drinking water filter, all with a 10-year warranty. We have had fourteen months of problems including the system flooding our garage because it was not installed properly. The system stopped working because it was overburdened with our water. As is turns out, Superior Water did not install the correct type of system for our water. In addition, we have had multiple system failures due to failed valves and gaskets. At one point, Superior Water refused to honor the warranty and service the system. It took multiple phone calls and arguments to get it straightened out. Since that time, they will not return phone calls, they drag their feet, they frequently lie and they treat us with hostility. One can imagine that we feel the same hostility towards them. Upon the latest incident, they charged us for service claiming we were out of warranty. We learned that they had substituted non-Kinetico equipment that had a 1-year warranty for the 10-year warranty Kinetico equipment for which we paid $6,400. They claimed that we knew it which is a FLAT OUT LIE. There is no way that we would EVER pay that much money for an inferior, off-brand system. During their sales call, they showed us PowerPoint and video presentations touting the Kinetico system as the best available. The sales people told us that it is the only truly effective and reliable system. EVERY SINGLE manual and sales piece they gave us had Kinetico splashed all over it. Never once did anyone mention non-Kinetico equipment. After a fourteen month nightmare, when we caught them in their tricks, they answered us with lies. I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this company.

Dennis Suarez came to the house and tested our water after we realized our existing water softening system was on the brink of breaking down. We agreed to purchase the system and have it installed. They came out and installed the system just like they said they would. The technicians were very professional and they hauled off our old system. Superior Water Conditioning was able to finance our purchase for six months which was a plus for us since the system is so expensive. They have even come out to the house to add salt to our system at no charge. We are very happy with the service!

At Superior Water Conditioning's urging I agreed to the dechlor pack (carbon) replacement. My system also has filtering cartridges under my sink and I asked if they could be replaced at the time of the dechlor pack replacement. I was told no, that would have to be a separate service call. However, they said it was a very easy procedure that I could do myself. Evidently they don't know about my back. Their service call is an unreasonably high 90 something dollars. That is for the trip out and 1/2 hour of service. When they came to replace the dechlor pack lo and behold we discovered a leak in my system. The tech at the site said he was not able to repair the leak. Since I was going to have to pay a service charge for them to come out and fix the leak I asked if the filter's could be changed at that time. I was told no, that would have to be ANOTHER service call. Any additional time and any parts are extra. I wish I had Angie's List when I was looking for a water softner because this company would not have made my list.

This member has two pieces of water treatment equipment: outside his home there is a de-chlorinator/water conditioner combination. Also, he has a reverse-osmosis drinking water system under his kitchen sink. The equipment was four years old at the time of this service. The carbon replacement for the de-chlorinator tanks is set at a flat rate, which includes all service, labor, parts and material charges. He was made aware of this when the price was quoted and it is also written on the service work order that “charges cover carbon rebed only and any additional service would require a separate trip and labor charge”. When we performed that work for him, we also delivered two filters for his drinking water system. We certainly would not have suggested the filters were easy to change if we were aware of his back problem. The leak was due to a cracked cap on the top of the water conditioner and the part was replaced under warranty at no charge. He was charged for the two filters (no delivery charge), the flat rate for the carbon replacement and a service call for the leak.

The job was not done, rescheduled for an inconvenient time because we don't have any free weekends in the next few months.
Description of Work: They were to replace a reverse osmosis filter. Appointment scheduled for Sat AM but when I called at 3 pm I was told "someone" rescheduled the appointment for a week from Saturday. It certainly wasn't me because we won't be home.

We have had this company come out several times to service the water softener/conditioner that was in the house when we bought it. It was approximately 2 years old when we moved in (2 years ago) and we're on a well. Each time they have come out, we feel like we have just paid for nothing. The smell/taste of the water doesn't change, or immediately goes back to the state it was in before they arrived, or they can't solve our problem and we need a new softener/conditioner. We recently went to a Home Expo and met the owner of this company, William Brownell. We told him and his representatives how disappointed we were with the service we have received from his company and the chronic issues we have with the softener. He (William) assured us he himself would call us the following week and come out to make things right with us. Two weeks later, we haven't heard from him. We have resorted to troubleshooting and ordering parts off of the internet ourselves, with much better results.

The members are the fourth residents of the home since the original installation of the water treatment equipment in February of 2002. It is our policy to explain all available equipment, but ultimately the choices are made by our customers. In this instance, the equipment selection was not made by the members; they inherited the choices of the original owners. Our recommendation of a drinking water filter by our salesperson was declined by the original owners and is documented on the purchase work order. Also, well water can be inconsistent and its characteristics can change over time. Chemical replenishment and periodic maintenance is required and it is not unusual for adjustments to be needed as well. Our records indicate two service calls for them prior to the above noted report date: January 5, 2006 for a repair and September 9, 2006 for periodic maintenance, chemical replenishment and at the request of the customer, we also left spare periodic maintenance parts for their chlorinator. After meeting them at the Home Show, Mr. Brownell reviewed our file and had additional testing done by our service department in September and October of 2007 (at no charge). He discussed with the member the test results and the benefits of additional filtration for drinking water, showers and the washing machine as well as for the whole house. At no time was a new water softener/conditioner recommended. We believe we have mended our relationship with them. In January 2008 (after the above report date) they invested in a reverse-osmosis drinking water system from us.

Mr. Suarez visited and tested the water. He indicated the water was not unsafe but to get rid of the somewhat musky odor would require replacement of existing water softener. To eliminate iron residue would require a mechanism I never did understand. He used a laptop computer with a professional presenatation. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand how/why such an expensive process would be required. If pipes were iron (which they are in parts of the old house) then would still have a problem with residue.

Choosing a water treatment system can be a challenge, especially since many homeowners have limited experience with well water. We stride to make sure our presentations are educational, and offer a complete line of water treatment systems including ones designed for pipes with iron. Sometimes there is so much information exchanged that it can be confusing, especially when multiple companies are being considered. When our customers have questions, we are always available for a follow-up visit as well as for clarification of any concerns by phone. We also offer a written guaranty of satisfaction, making it impossible for our customers to make the wrong choice. The repairs were completed, at least according to technician. I was informed AFTER completion of the work that there would be no guarantee of work due to age of unit. They gave me a quote for rebuilding unit. The unit never operated correctly after the technician left. It appears that I paid $100 for them to give me a proposal to spend another $800.

THE MEMBER OWNS A UNIT WITH AN ORIGINAL INSTALL DATE OF JANUARY 22, 1988. AT THE TIME OF HIS COMMENT AND LAST SERVICE WORK ORDER THE UNIT WAS OVER 18 YEARS OLD. IT HAD BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE ANY MAJOR SERVICE WAS LAST PERFORMED. IT IS STANDARD PRACTICE OF ALL OFFICE PERSONNEL TO EXPLAIN THE MINIMUM SERVICE CHARGE AT THE TIME OF SCHEDULING ANY SERVICE CALL. AFTER WHICH THEY NOTE ON THE PRINTED WORK ORDER OF SUCH CHARGES AND THAT THIS WAS EXPLAINED THOROUGHLY TO THE CUSTOMER. ONCE AT THE MEMBER’S HOME, THE SERVICEMAN EXPLAINED THAT THE RESIN HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED IN TEN YEARS AND THAT A REBUILD WAS NEEDED. THIS EXPLANATION WAS ADDED TO THE TOP OF THE WORK ORDER AS WELL. THE SERVICEMAN THEN DID A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SERVICE THAT THE MEMBER ALLOWED AND THE SERVICEMAN NOTED ON THE WORK ORDER THAT THIS WORK COULD NOT BE GUARANTEED DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE UNIT. IF THE CUSTOMER CHOSE TO HAVE THE REBUILD AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SERVICEMAN, HE WOULD STILL BE ENJOYING HIS CONDITIONER. UNITS LIKE THIS HAVE UPWARDS OF A 30-YEAR LIFESPAN.

WE REALLY LIKE THE WATER SOFTENER. THE SALESMEN 'MADE THE SALE' AND WAS NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN. AFTER WE GOT THE SYSTEM INSTALLED, WE HAD TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE OFFICE WORKERS. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO GET A CHECK UP CALL FROM THE SALES PERSON. ALSO, WE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH GETTING THE CHLORIDE SETTING RIGHT. AT ONE POINT, MY HUSBAND ASKED TO HAVE A SUPERVISOR COME OUT. THEY PROMISED TO SEND THE SUPERVISOR OUT, BUT INSTEAD SENT ANOTHER WORKER. TO HAVE SPENT $4700, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO BEG FOR SERVICE AFTER THE SALE WAS MADE.

It is our policy for our salespeople to make a follow-up visit within 10 days of installation. Had our salesperson done the proper follow-up per our policy, he would have explained that adjustments may be needed when systems are first installed, which would have avoided the dissatisfaction expressed in her report. We sincerely apologize, and I have spoken with the member to make sure she is happy with our performance now. With well water that requires a chlorinator, sometimes it takes a few visits in order to get the optimum settings and chemical mix. The equipment was installed at the home on November 17, 2004. We responded to their service requests either the same day or the very next day through November of 2005 (with one exception in June, 2005 at the customer’s request). Service was performed by either Pat, our service manager, or our senior technician Dave. Both of them train new technicians and each have over 30 years of experience. During that time, there were no charges to our customer except for chemicals. They did not request another service call until January 2008 for periodic maintenance.

WE MET DON HENDERSON AT A TAMPA HOME SHOW. THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. THE INSTALLERS EVEN INSTALLED A BYPASS FAUCET NEAR OUR POOL SINCE WE CANNOT USE SOFT WATER IN THE POOL. RESULTS WITH OUR WATER ARE TREMENDOUS.
Description of Work: INSTALLED A KINETICO SYSTEM IN OUR HOME DUE TO THE HARD WATER IN OUR AREA.
