I was informed over the phone for a tech to come out and just diagnose the issue, not fix anything there would be a $150.00 charge. I was shocked to find out that this fee does not even apply to service if I decided to go with them for the service.

This is the second time I've had to deal with L & R for warranty service on my dryer. The first time was actually worse. The office staff is abrupt at best, often out-right rude. We have had at least 3 technicians come out and they have all been courteous - people you don't mind being in your house. My big problem is that the office takes a month to get a part in (both times) and get feisty when you call for an update. This last time, once they got the part in, they never called to schedule an appointment - they just called to "confirm" the appointment the following day. Thankfully we were able to be at home at that time. We have an unusual brand washer/dryer and none of the techs have had any training on this brand, so there is a lot of trial and error involved, and nothing has been fixed right the first time. I would never use them if I had a choice.
Description of Work: The rubber roller things were replaced in my dryer.

I was impressed by the tech's knowledge of the dryer and how he went about his work. The $75 charge covered the visit and he said if the temperature failed within 30 days the company would replace it at no charge. I was impressed by the company and would use them again or recommend them.
Description of Work: Our 40 yr. old Maytag dryer would not heat up. L&R Appliance insisted on a $75 payment before they would schedule an appointment. So I charged that amount to my Visa card and they scheduled an appointment for the following day. On that day they called in advance to let us know they were coming. The tech took the dryer apart and checked all electrical and mechanical systems, said they were OK, put the dryer back together and turned it on an out came heat. Tech said the Delicate temp button had been pressed inadvertently and there was no heat at that setting. The other temperature is Regular (hot) and it was working OK. Tech complimented my wife on condition of the appliance and said they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Although the repair man had a small amount of trouble finding my home, he arrived within the time window they had set. The repair man quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me two options. We could replace the broken piece for $200, or the entire ice maker for $225. After consulting with my spouse, we first decided to replace the entire ice maker. Then I asked if it was a part we could order and install on our own. He said that it was definitely an option, and would save us some money. He said it was a pretty easy job to do, so I went with that option. He clearly explained that if we changed our mind, we had to call L&R within 30 days or we would face an additional charge. The cost for the visit was $75.
Description of Work: I contacted L & R to have someone come out and check on the ice maker in our Whirlpool fridge that hasn't worked for years. They couldn't get to my house until the following week for a morning appointment (that I had requested), but that wasn't a problem.

I guess I am glad we didn't have an emergency.
Description of Work: We called them on a Saturday for a home warranty repair on our fridge. We were told by the warranty company that they could not come out until Monday but to leave a message, so we did. They never returned our phone call on that Monday.

They were very prompt about coming out to see what the problem was, but Tony, although personable, is new and wasn't knowledgeable enough to tell what the problem was. I think he's in training. He went to his boss, and the boss told me to wait twenty-four hours. The boss is using it to teach him. I called back Monday, and the owner was back that day. He ordered the parts and will come back out next week to install them. He said he would call beforehand to tell me the price. The installation shouldn't cost anything because there's a thirty day service warranty. They're very helpful people. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I have an Amana fridge/freezer. The defrost unit wasn't working, the door doesn't work properly, and I think the warranty has run out. It's something in the unit's rails. The light is also broken. I called this company to send a tech. to diagnose the problem.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT. THE WOMAN THAT DID THE JOB WAS VERY EXPERIENCED AND QUALIFIED. THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE WHO RADIOED HER FOR OPINIONS AND QUESTIONS WHILE SHE WAS SERVICING ME.

IT WAS JUST FINE. THEY WERE HERE WITHIN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS OF WHEN I CALLED. HE SAID THE PART WOULD BE HERE IN ABOUT A WEEK. I THINK IT TOOK A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN THAT, BUT IT WAS FINE.

OVERALL, WE WERE SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICE. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS IN INITIALLY OBTAINING AN EARLY SERVICE DATE FROM THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. THEIR REPAIRMAN SEEMED KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE PRODUCTS.

THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT OUR REFRIGERATOR WAS NOT CLOSING PROPERLY AND FIXED THE RUBBER STUFF AROUND THE REFRIGERATOR. ONCE THIS WAS DONE, THE COLD AIR WAS NOT ESCAPING OUT ANYMORE.
