I called ServiceOne for a second opinion to verify what another company diagnosed, that my compressor was dead. The woman who answered the phone was very polite. I wanted a quote for the parts and labor. She offered to send someone out to my house to discuss. They ended up sending out a sales/project manager who was under the impression I wanted a quote for a new system. I guess that was misunderstood over the phone. I told him what I was after and he didn't hesitate to call a service tech to come over and do a second opinion. He was very attentive to what I was saying and said he'd bring his best tech over. He told me the service charge was going to be $69. As soon as he called his office a tech was on their way. I was very impressed how fast he arrived where the other company I called the day before took all day to get here. While we waited for the tech I asked him, just incase I ended up needing a new system, what could he do for me? Since I'm selling my property I'm not trying to go all fancy, just something that is reliable and will work. He put together a quote for me that felt reasonable and said if we had to, they could install it the next day. The tech came and was a lively guy. Very laid back and told it like it was. I like that. He explained to me everything that was wrong and why it was broken, not just that it was broke. He also answered all my questions and was easy to talk to. I do believe he did every test he could try to verify that the compressor was indeed broke. I told him the other company I had over the previous day was going to get back to me regarding if the compressor was still under warranty and that I still hadn't heard back from them. He pulled out his phone, called Carrier, put them on speaker so I could hear their conversation, and found out not only was it under warranty, but Carrier had a bulletin on that part and would either replace the part at no charge or offer a whole new condenser unit for $1200 + labor. I have a 2 stage system so a new one is very expensive. I was thrilled to hear this and wondered why the other company didn't do this. I felt this really distinguished ServiceOne above their competitors. Shortly after they left and learned from Carrier what we needed to do to replace the part, the sales/project manager left me a message one the phone asking for my email address so he could send me the warranty packet Carrier wanted me to sign so they could submit the claim. I didn't get back to him until 10pm missing his call earlier and fearing I would have to wait all day the next day to get the packet and by missing his call I prolonged the process. I was happy to see he sent the packet at 11:30pm that night which I found checking my email the next morning. He even text my phone at 7am to ensure I got it so we could keep the paperwork moving as quick as possible so that I could get AC back in my home. I really appreciated the urgency they put forth to getting the steps done to complete this work. It's a level of service I've not seen in just about any company. They had a brand new condenser unit over my house in hours after I submitted the paperwork. Unfortunately during mid install it started to rain but the installation guy kept on working, until it started lightening to which he went and sat in the truck. I was surprised to see him continue to work in the rain and it was understandable to go sit in the truck when it was lightening. Obviously that's not safe. When the lightening stopped he went back and worked in the rain to finish. Again another step above and beyond in customer service. They did all of this while I'm still waiting to hear from the first company I had look at my system regarding replacing the part! Amazing and puts the rest to shame! Overall I'm very pleased with this company. I wasn't thrilled that my old unit died and I had to drop an unexpected large expense but I'm more than thrilled with ServiceOne. While I feel their labor cost was a bit high, I feel it can be justified. You DO get what you pay for. They are very knowledgable, extremely friendly and professional, and the speed at which they moved to get me back in AC was incredible. They never missed a beat and were on top of it at all times. I called early in the week and got an appointment on Thursday morning. It wasn't an emergency, as we weren't living in the house yet. Charles showed up within the given time frame and I explained the situation with our 2-A/C system to him. After a short amount of time, he diagnosed the problem with the smaller unit. He gave us the bad news pretty quickly that the smaller unit was going to be more cost efficient to replace than to repair. He spent a while thoroughly tuning up the larger A/C. Overall, the price was excellent, the service was excellent, and we will be getting an estimate from them on a new A/C.
Description of Work: We purchased a new home and wanted to have the two AC units tuned-up. We knew they were older, but our home inspector told us we just needed to have the coil cleaned in one of them. Once we closed and actually spent a little time at the home, the smaller unit didn't seem to be working properly. ServiceOne performed one full A/C tune-up and diagnosed the problem on the second A/C.

Overall: Such a disappointment after reading positive reviews. Overall, I must say I was impressed with the companies? responsiveness; however truly disappointed with their determination* to take advantage of a possible lifetime customer. Woke up to hear a/c unit running without any air from vents. Went to inspect and found ice on coils, being a first time homeowner and unfamiliar with a/c units did some research and thought the unit needed a tune up. Looked online and found Service One with great reviews. Initially called too early and answering service asked if I could call back at 8:30, business hours (incorrect business hours given). Called back and spoke with Dan, his pleasantness over the phone and ability to have the problem addressed that day gave a good impression. Mentioned a few deals from the company that were online, but was told they would not apply because this was a service call. The poor analogy given was as if my ?car broke down and it?s being towed to the shop?. Fine. Jason the technician comes earlier than stated time, which would have been great if I were home. Jason was professional and courteous. Since I took off the covers to the portion of the a/c unit in the garage, he had little to do. He attached his diagnostic tools to the outside unit, and everything was fine. Pulled out the filter, said it needed to be changed and replaced with one of the filters from the box I have. He then reattached the covers I had taken off. He adjusted a sensing unit and used some electrical tape to secure it. Spent a total amount of 35 to 45 minutes, and then went to his van to write up the invoice. *When challenging the absurd price, Jason could only answer with ridiculous reasons. He even admitted that one of the companies specials (49.95 on Angie?s List) would have been more in depth, but yet insisted this was a good deal. Price: Easily an F because charging $126.90 for checking operation, changing a filter (that they didn't even supply!!), and using some tape is absolutely absurd. The deals they have online are cheaper than the "service call" and it would have been a more in depth inspection than what little work was done. I was also charged for an 1hr or 1 1/2hrs of work (not exactly sure, it was $75) and I was home by 11:17am and he was gone by 12 noon....when I go to work, they do not round up my hours! Quality: N/A because no real repair work was...it was basically a system check. Responsiveness: Initially called at 6am when I realized the a/c unit was not properly working. Realized it was an answering service company I was speaking to and was asked if I could wait until the business opened up at 8:30am (posted on Angie?s List they open at 8:00am). That was fine, called back at 8:02am and Dan answered, very friendly and helpful with scheduling the work. Was told they would be a technician available to stop by between 11:30am and 1pm. Punctuality: Jason, the technician, called at 10:35am and said he was on his way. This would have been great if I hadn?t planned other errands beforehand. Jason said it was not a problem and would see me in a 1/2hr. When I arrived back home at 11:17am he was waiting in his van. Professionalism: Jason was polite and informative. Closing: If the company was honest in charging for their business, they would seen the value of keeping a customer over the life of the A/C unit (8+yrs); instead they would rather charge $126.90 for a simple a/c check and change of filter (which they did not even provide) and loose a customer for life?.I guess there is always a sucker out there. Will not use again.

Dear member, I am sorry that your experience was less than great with our company. I also want to apologize for the delay in getting a response to your report. We get super busy during the peak of summer and I have fallen behind with my report responses with Angie's List. When it is all said and done the only true issue I can see to apologize for is the pricing that you felt was unfair. We have certain charges that we have to charge... unfortunately the cost of getting a service technician to a home is more expensive than we would like these days. The adjustment that you are referring to is the expansion valve on your indoor unit... it can likely be the culprit of a unit freezing up or it could have been a combination of that plus filter being dirty. Most technicians do not catch the expansion valve placement, and it can prove to be critical to operation, and system efficiency. It looks as though he used a miscellaneous repair code to address changing the filter and repostioning the expansion valve. I am sorry that he did not go over the repair cost in detail enough to understand the reasoning for the repairs. We do not want for whatever reason for you to feel as though you were taken advantage of, or charged something that you should not have been charged. We will happily refund whatever portion of your charges for that call you feel to be fair. I will have Dan or Grace call you in the upcoming days. I don't want to bother you, but I do want this to be made right from your perspective. Hopefully you will have had a chance to read my response before we give you a call, so as to not catch you off guard. We truly strive for customer satisfaction with evey call, and hate that we missed the mark on your visit to your home. Hopefully we can earn another attempt should you have a future need. Our A/C froze up on the weekend, so we put in an e-mail through Angie's List. We called back in Monday afternoon to get an appointment scheduled and they were almost able to fit us in same-day (very courteous phone folks!). They sent their tech out Tuesday at 7 a.m. to make sure we would have A/C working by the time it got warmer. The tech defrosted the unit, hooked it up to the meters and found out that the unit wasn't running empty. We went over all the possible causes of the freeze up and discussed solutions. In the end, we opted for a wait-and-see along with some safety measures so that we'll know if it starts freezing up again (features we probably should have had installed by our builder/initial A/C contractors but didn't). He's going to get back to us with a list of options and we'll work with them to implement solutions. Very professional, courteous and very reasonable prices. Will definitely use them again!

The A/C stopped working. I went to Angie's list and decided to go with this company after reading the reviews from people that living within five miles from me. The answering service said the technician would call me within half an hour and he did. He said he would call me when he was finished with the job he was doing. He did and said it would take him about 40 min to get here. The technician was clean, was very respectful and explained what he was doing. I asked him about their maintenance plan and it was very reasonable so I purchased that as well. Today (July 3rd) I was called by the office to schedule the first maintenance.
Description of Work: My A/C stopped working, the technician checked both units, the thermostat, and added some freon. A/C started working again.

I own multiple properties in FL, and have now used Service One A/C to service several of them. One of those properties needed extra work as the duct work in attic was leaking air. I felt the quote was reasonable and their service professional. For one of my tenants in particular who has a difficult work schedule, Service One has gone above and beyond to try to work out a time to service the A/C. I found this company through Angie's list, and I have no complaint. The one thing to be aware of is that if you want Service One to change the air filter, it needs to be provided by the tenant or home owner, or purchased through their company. That caught me off guard the first time I used them, (as A/C company I use in Indiana provides filter) but now that I know their policy and have found that this is common practice among some other companies (at least in FL), I am fine with it. They did go out of their way to satisfy me and earn my future business.

Once the technician was ready to write up the results, he quoted a price of $159.57 for a capacitor (only; plus installation) that isn't bad yet but isn't putting out the proper reading. My air conditioner service company at home sold me the same capacitor for $20. The technician also wanted to charge over $100 to put some insulation on wires at the second home that my husband can do for the cost of the heat-seal insulation. The technician also tried to sell yearly service contracts; perhaps that is common with Big Deals. The Big Deal was a great deal. I wouldn't use this company for repairs as the (presumably) standard charges are way too high.
Description of Work: I'm moving to Sanford and bought 2 air conditioner checks for 2 homes through Angie's List Big Deals. The technician performed a very thorough inspection, especially for the low cost (each deal was $49.95).

Please know that our goal with every call is to earn an overall A report and would value very much any feedback you can give us as to ways to improve. I read the comments about the repairs that were recommended and read the invoice from the day we were at your homes. I check our repair pricing against that of our competition regularly as we strive to be fair and competitive in our pricing. The wiring that was recommended was actually replacing an entire section of wire running from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. It can take a bit of time and most of the time a second set of hands to run the wiring properly. Assuming your husband is handy and can take care of that, which many people can, that is great, and will save you some money for sure. We serve many customers who cannot or don't want to handle their own repairs, and unfortunately with the cost of materials, labor, and overhead to operate the business, it has our pricing where it is currently. As i stated, we do check our pricing frequently against other good companies who operate a service business as ours, and I just wanted you to know that we make every effort to keep our pricing competitive and fair, without taking shortcuts or doing inferior work. If your husband has any trouble with the wiring repairs or any other repairs for that matter, we would be happy to help. It all started on a very HOT and rainy day in Summer. It was 12:00 pm when the A/C decided it did not wish to work for us anymore. We called Service One, and by 3:15, we had a very talented and well trained technician(Troy) out and working(In the Rain) on getting our A/C back on it's feet. Troy found the reason for our troubles we were experiencing, and gave us a verbal quote. I gave the OK and Troy went straight to work and within 30 minutes, we were feeling the space we were living in getting cooler by the second. I had been out working in the hot sun all day, and my wife was entertaining some guests from out of town, we could not have been happier with the overall experience. The guests we had staying with us took down all the information about Service One, and said they would be using them in the future also. Thank-you again Troy! You helped make a long day in the HEAT much Cooler!

My wife was very pleased with the professionalism of the gentleman to did the service. He called me to confirm replacing the starter capacitor as well as recommend cleaning the coils. He suggested and I agreed to sign up for a service plan that ultimately only cost a couple bucks more than the individual services performed this day and included two more check-up/tune ups

I put in a online request on the evening of the 8th of May and by 8:00a.m. I was speaking to a representative to set up a appointment for that same day for them to come out. I was really happy that they could come out so quickly, and with a few phone calls between myself and my wife we got a good time for the technician to come out. Jason was early and very helpful from start to finish. Our home is feeling much cooler already!!! Very pleased with their service and we will be signing up for their ClubOne Membership because we are convinced that it is good to have your A/C system checked a minimum of at least 2 times a year. We will be recommending this company to our neighbors and friends. I work as a consultant in my job, and appreciate a company that sends out good quality people just like we do.
Description of Work: Service One found my system low on refrigerant.They charged the system and inspected the unit for any possible leaks. They also recommended a U.V. Die inspection to ensure that their were No new future leaks and my wife and I decided that we would do that service as well. The technician's name was Jason.

Not only did I get my heat - pump/air tune up, BUT they now offer filter shipping - all sizes, and will send a reminder to change same. JUST all around GREAT Service!

Service One did a thorough exam of the A/C unit and took the cover off the outdoor central air unit. They gave me a list of all the problems. I had a hole in the freon unit and fixed it and the coils in the unit. They also showed my the problems. They also provided me a written itemized estimate. They also offered me a 10% discount and were very willing to work with me to get the price down. The staff was very knowledgeable, honest and professional. They staff was also extremely prompt. They treated me with alot of respect. The owner was also polite and did a follow up call. I found this company on Angie's List and I am pleased with them, I would use them again.

Purchased (2) 21 point tune ups using an Angie's List coupon for my upstairs and downstairs system. The technician called before he arrived to let me know he was on his way and was extremely professional and knowledgeable about my system. He even wore shoe covers when he entered the house. Service was great and I will definitely use them for any of my future A/C needs.

We had many quotes to have our a/c replaced, and everyone told us we'd have to stick to the brand we had previously (of course the expensive brand chosen by the previous owners) because of the size and existing connections. Service One took on the challenge and measured and inspected everything and and compared measurements to tons of different options for us to find something that would fit in our small space. They also were the only ones that inspected the condition of the pads, and existing lines to save us money. They were able to get us a quote that was not only affordable, but also was a higher SEER than the others companies offered us. They installed the next business day, which was fantastic (trying to sleep with it's 86 degrees in your bedroom can be difficult). Installation of the 2 systems was completed in 1 day. They cleaned up after themselves well enough that I was able to have house guests arrive less than an hour after they left.

I liked their price. They absolutely knew what they were doing. They came in, were confident and did the work within one day. They did a followup call and also put me on the maintenance plan. They gave me various options in terms of the ones they recommended when I was first going to buy the new unit. I have actually saved about $80 on my electric bill a month with this new unit, even though I leave the temperature at the same level. This new unit has really worked out for me. It definitely was a good price. I would rate them highly and would continue to use them in the future; in fact, they will be coming back again this Friday for a tune-up.
