Snyder Heating & Air Conditioning

Snyder found the air handler needed replacement with a $178 charge for this diagnosis. This charge could be deducted if Snyder were to replace the unit. This charge seemed excessive for approximately 50 minutes of diagnosing. The estimate to replace the unit was initially $2,140. I called a competitor, and they gave a price of $1475 installed for the identical system, plus a replacement thermostat. I'll be blunt, I feel swindled. First with the $177 service charge and now to hear I was quoted $665 (45%) more than the competitor. Subsequently, Snyder did offer to do the work for just under $1600 after I informed them of the much lower estimate. This Snyder representative indicated they are higher because of their higher overhead, and the competitor is a smaller company so they do not have as much overhead. This logic goes against everything I have learned. I've used Snyder on two other occasions and have an a/c cleaning contract with them as well. I will no longer use Snyder.

Sales rep. came out and provided quote for the new systems. I got 3 quotes, but went with Snyder because Larry's quote was the most specific in terms of what the installation would involve. Price-wise, all 3 vendors were in the same ballpark. On the day of installation, the crew showed up on time, introduced themselves and cleaned up after themselves. There was a glitch in that one of the air handlers would not fit in the existing space, so Snyder sent in a more expensive unit for the same price, even though they had to build a different platform and venting so that it would fit properly. The crew had decades of experience except for the cost, it was a painless experience. I'm not complaining about the cost, especially since the installation was more complex with more expensive equipment than Snyder originally quoted, yet they stood by their original pricing.

The phone rep. was quick to call back (it was a late Sunday afternoon), very polite, professional, and gave me some friendly free advice over the phone to solve my problems!!

I contacted several contractors, and I felt comfortable with Snyders knowledge, and their price was very competitive. The installation crew was there on time and did a good job. It's only been a month and a half, but the system is running flawlessly. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. Special kudos go to David Pickett (manager) who was a pleasure to deal with.
