Even though it came with a 10 year parts warranty, they added a 10 yr labor warranty. 1 year later, they replaced the whole unit. It was a good experience and the new unit is working fine. Currently, they come in and do a maintenance service on the unit in the Spring. They're quick and I'd easily recommend them!
Description of Work: We've been using them for a while (at least 10 years). 4 years ago, we had them replace the air handler. They replaced it with an Amana unit.

I called them out to just do a routine service, which should have included cleaning the outside and insdie coils/condensor coils. All he did was check the refrigirant level and told me I need new contacts on the outside unit because they showed some wear. I was stupid and went for it. I was later told that this was one of the oldest tricks in the book to make some money. About 2 months afterwards my capicator went out ont he outside unit. I called an independent guy that came out and fixed it as well as added a hard start capacitor as well, all for $100 on the 4th of July. Snyder charged me $250 and replaced something that wasn't even broke, didn't even notice the capacitor was swollen indicating it was abou to go out. I will never ever call Snyder rip off heating and air, they are dishonest crooks. My neighbor called them out to do a service and they pulled the same thing, replaced the contacts, which were working fine. Charged him over $300 for the service, her husband was out of town and he scared the poor lady in to doing it. What a bunch of crooks. Stay away.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand your frustration to have another part fail in such a short period of time, but that is very common thing that happens with capacitors. One minute everything is fine and the next day they blow. Your contactor is the second most common part that will fail so it is good that we caught this before it failed. We hope you will continue to have preventive maintenance and not let one experience ruin your system for the future. Thanks again for your feedback. Ed Miller

I decided to go to someone else. It appeared to me that Snyder Air didn't mind losing a customer that had utilized their services for 9 years. I would not recommend.
Description of Work: There was excess water leaking from the air handler which was puddling in the laundry room. They came on 8/27/13 and cleaned the pan and main line, charging $180.00. The problem was not fixed. They came back on 8/29/13 and stated they could not find any problems and left. The problem was not fixed. I called Snyder Air on 9/3/13 and found the staff to be not responsive and indicated the technician stated there was no water evident on 8/29/13, even though the filter was soaked and water was clearly evident. If I wanted them to come back out, I would have to pay for additional services. I asked what was done for the $180?

Other than the installers being a little late they installed both the inside and outside units, cooper lines, drain line, thermostat and electrical as per code in a very reasonable amount of time. Both the installers where very curious and explained what they were doing during the installation. And also explained the warranty and the maintenance schedule. I would highly recommend them.

How'd it go? Horrible! The 2011 repair was okay, cost around $1,200. They told me that two free tune ups were included with that service. They began calling me over and over about 6 months after the repair, leaving message after message about the free tune up. I didn't want to do it as the system was running fine. I finally caved and let them schedule a "free" cleaning and tune up around January 2012. Boy, was that a mistake! That "free" tune up ended up costing me $6,600 for an entirely new system! When the tech was cleaning out the leaves from the outside part of the system he kept banging the Shop Vac into all the parts at the bottom of the unit. Some of those parts are delicate tubes that carry the coolant. He must have damaged one of those, because just a few days later the system completely failed. I was so ticked off that I didn't even call Snyder. Got someone else to come and he showed me the small piece of tubing that just broke off from the weld point, interestingly enough, right in the same area where the Snyder tech was bashing around the Shop Vac suction pipe. It would of cost $600 just for coolant, as this system was still using the old stuff, then add in the repair. I just went ahead and got a new 18.5 SEER system. I would never use Snyder again nor recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: Snyder initially performed a repair on my Tempstar heat pump in 2011. They then did a "free" tune up around January 2012.

Sometimes refrigerant leaks do happen on A/C systems unfortunately I would say that by banging a shop vac against the unit wouldn't cause a leak. I understand your frustration but we only wish that you would have contacted us so we could have resolved this in a professional manner. We feel that Snyder shouldn't receive a failing grade of F due to the fact we were never informed to make a resolution.

We are displeased with Snyder Air. When we had the annual servicing on our air handlers (AHs) we were told that one of our AHs was `partially going to ground.? The Snyder employee recommended we buy a whole new unit rather than do a costly repair. After he left, another AH that had been working normally stopped cooling. The service technician Snyder sent discovered that the maintenance person had left the fan on that unit disconnected. He fixed it for no charge. He officially diagnosed the other AH as partially `going to ground? because the windings were losing their coating and shorting out. He said we should purchase a whole new unit. We were charged $67.50 for the official diagnosis. We subsequently hired another company who fixed the unit for $225 by replacing a capacitor ? a potential cause for the problem that we?d mentioned to Snyder. We are unhappy about the misdiagnosis (which could have been very costly) and we are dissatisfied that we had to pay $67.50 for that misdiagnosis.

I took the time to add this review as I'm a true believer of reviews for products and services. Individuals must be well informed of just not the product their buying but the company they are getting service from. My experience with Snyder was "sweet and sour". I must say that Nick the sales person was very responsive and even after reading some recent reviews here; I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and contract their service for AC system installation at my home. But the whole experience with their pricing issues leaves me with an extremely bad impression of how they operate. I heard from David Picket's (VP at Snyder) mouth "We made a mistake"...This experience was just related to getting a quote.. but I could only imagine if they had this same slogan after installing such an expensive system at my home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I called Snyder and asked to get a quote on 4/18/2013. Nick (very nice sales/service person) presented his company's service and systems in almost 2 hours. (4/19/2013). He quoted me 3 different systems and advised that he would be waiting for my call and if needed he would stop by on Saturday for next steps on the quote and have my system installed on Monday. He called me on Saturday with better pricing for the 3 systems that dropped the prices a couple $100. Original price quoted: Trane XL20i ($10090) w/extended warranty. Next morning I was quoted at $9890. I took my time to quote around and got a couple other quotes very close to what Snyder had proposed. Nick was very responsive, so I decided to move forward with their quote because of his customer service. I called him on 4/24/2013 and he said that he may have given me a wrong price. (Of course higher otherwise I would not be writing this kind of review). This morning he revised his quote from $9890 to $11200. He said he was sorry, but had the wrong price. Really!??? We've been talking for a week and you just realized that the price is incorrect. I contacted his manager (David Picket) who was absolutely a waste of time. He is the VP at Snyder but didn't impress me with his Customer Service. As I was explaining what it all had happened, he kept interrupting me. When I got to the price conversation he said they were not going to honor that original quote and that he would provide me with a quote with the correct price. Yes, I was expecting them to honor the original quote; but could they have done anything else to keep my business? like saying "Let me see what I can do to keep you as a customer even if I don't honor the original quote or try to come with as close to it." His words were "I PREFER YOU GET THE INSTALLATION DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE". Really!? ...I was upset but granted always postured. I prefer to use the channels of communication out there to make sure people don?t get screwed by an unprofessional company. Like I mentioned before, I rather have this happen during a quote than having an issue later with the ?We make mistakes? Slogan.

They just come out and try and sell me more services.
Description of Work: A new Trane system was put into my house about two years ago by the Snyder people. The system was not put in correctly. It created air quality problems in my home that we did not have before. [a fine thin powder was visual in the air when the heat would come on...it looked like smoke]. I care for my elderly parents in my home and the air quality issues have been so bad it has sent my 95 year old mom to the hospital several times. I called Synder several times to look at the problem. They would came out and would not fix the problem. Their answer is always to try and sell me expensive products to fix the issue that did not exist until they replace the heating system in my house. Because I care for two elder parents, they try to sell me products I don't need instead of fixing the problem. The system is so poor, I have to call an outside company to come and fix it everyday single time it's cold out!!!!!! And I pay a company to clean all the air ducts that are full of this fine white powder every few months. Don't use them. Find a small company that cares about it's clients. You will be much happier. All the Synder company cares about is profits. They give you a strong sales pitch every time. I have spent a lot of money trying to fix the problem: from simple things like repairing were the filter goes in [the filter breaks up each time you put one in], to having someone come out to tell me it needs an overhaul because it was not initially installed correct. Before my old system died, I had no issues whatsoever. Once the Snyder company installed a new system all I've had is issues.

I called on 2/15/13 for someone to come to my home on 2/18/13 to provide an estimate for a new unit. The appointment was set for 2:30PM. At 12:31, Larry called to inform me our scheduled time was not convenient for him and wanted to come at 12:30 as he was extremely busy that day. After explaining to Larry, we had not planned to be home until our scheduled appointment, I advised him we would not be going with his company as if they are not able to keep an appointment for a quote, how are they going to keep an appointment. Snyder did not have my business nor will they have my business going forward.

Air unit stopped working. Call to Snyder on a Saturday for assessment/repair. After 3 hours and a lot of conversation, no attempt to try to fix it, I was left with a $180 bill, no working unit, and an estimate for full replacement of entire AC unit, which was the salesmans main interest......, to sell me a new unit. Called Florida Comfort the next day, Sunday. Came out in 30mins. Fixed the unit, cost of $165. Its been working ever since, heat and air. John at Florida Comfort was great and efficient. Todays date is 2/9/2013, I just joined Angie's list. Snyder did refund my $180 and I did not renew the service contract for the AC on my rental property home with Snyder.

I called them because they were the ones who installed the unit for the previous owners. When I called and explained the problem, they said they could be over in 45 minutes. They came on time. The guy was nice and professional. After about 45 minutes of working on things he said he thought our thermostat was the problem. Which it turned out to be true. My only complaint is when I called they said it would be $80 for the visit plus any parts that were needed and then when I asked the guy around 45 minutes into it he said its that price for the first hour and then $65 for every half hour after that. I basically told him to just clean up and go by the 1 hour mark because I am certainly not paying $65 for him to help me read my thermostats user manual. I am not sure if that is normal, I haven't lived in Florida long enough to experience many AC Malfunctions however it seems high and I would have definitely not expected that high of a bill without replacing any parts if he were here for 1.5 hours.

I scheduled the service call with the main office for the following day. The service technician arrived on schedule. I described the trouble I was having (compressor fan cutting out, coil in air handler icing up, not getting cool air from the registers). He checked the capacitor, said it was faulty, and replaced it with one he had on hand. He checked the freon and said the system needed charging and advised me on the ins and outs of my system leaking freon. He offered to try to find where the system was leaking, which I declined. My system was fourteen years old. I asked him to recharge it so I could get through the worst of the summer before replacing the whole system, which he agreed to do. While he was recharging the system he gave me his best advice (solicited by me) on different types of new equipment, manufacturers, and different features and their effect on system efficiency and energy savings compared to initial cost. He quoted me some prices for some of the equipment we discussed before writing up my ticket. All in all he was friendly and helpful and did his best to treat me fairly. I was very satisfied with the way the service call was handled. I gave them a B on price only because I don't know what's a fair price for the freon and capacitor supplied. I am satisfied I was charged a fair price for the parts, and I know I got a fair deal on the labbor charge.
Description of Work: I had the capacitor in in my central heat pump compressor replaced and the system recharged with freon. It took a little over 2.5 lb.

When I called I explained I wanted the ducts cleaned. but also had a leak in the intake unit inside my house. I was worried about mold as the shelf stayed soaked. The duct work was done. The secretary called to say someone would come out to collect my check. I told her I still needed someone to stop this leak. She said she would send a supervisor out to collect my check and check on my leak. He collected the check alright. Said my leak was no problem, just buy a better air filter. I bought a better filter and it leaked even more.
Description of Work: This price is for the duct cleaning. This work was sublet out to another company, so my review is not about that company. They did a good job.
