The last service went fine. I have used them several times. They are prompt when I call them. I never have to wait. I do not have a lot of problems with my system because I get the yearly maintenance and cleaning. Their price is pretty high. I called them out one time and they were able to come out on that same day. They also said that I would get a call when the technician was on the way but then he just showed up at the door. They are pretty professional but I will give them a "B" because sometimes service guys like to talk a lot and I just want them to get done with what they are doing and leave.
Description of Work: I use Snyder Heating and Air Conditioning. I had some wires that short out on my system the last time. They replaced the wires and did whatever else they needed to get it running again.

How did it go? It was so terrible (as I wrote of above) that i wrote a scathing review. I then wrote Ed Miller, the Snyder company President and he called me back almost immediately and promised to make things better. I asked Angie's List to withdraw my original review so that I could give Snyder's a second chance and so that I could write this review. Mr. Miller promptly went to work along with Johnny Rand (head of installation) in correcting every mistake and in following up on every detail. Bobby and Dana must be their #1 installation team as they knew exactly what to do and were very professional in their workmanship. They made sure that the electricians made needed changes that the original electricians botched. Dana and Bobby deserve accolades. Snyders also send out their best carpenter to repair the wall. Finally, Johnny Rand took care of financial details so that $183.00 in promotions are being refunded to me. So, this was "a night and day" experience and I am glad I gave Snyder Air Co. a second chance. Time will tell, but I think that in the long run, with trust being restored, they will have deserved their higher rating on Angie's List.
Description of Work: This as a follow-up to a scathing review. From an F grade to an A grade means an average of C. Excellent customer service after a horrendous sales experience and a Duval County inspection that FAILED saves the day for Snyders. So, the initial experience: 1. A persuasive salesman who lied to me about applying a $150.00 Angie's list discount. Also, he failed to follow up after the installation and failed to respond to voice mails and emails after the failed inspection. Apparently, he just sells units and doesn't care after that. That is just BAD business. 2. Despite questions i had about certain issues, the installation crew blew me off and those issues resulted in a failed inspection. They, too, didn't apply discounts and made promises about maintenance contracts that were not kept. They left a hole in my attic wall that they promised a speedy repair, but that, too, did not take place because they never let anyone on their side know. A long story made short, there were 5 inexcusable faults they should have taken care of that resulted in the failed inspection and a salesman who was dishonest and doesn't care.

My initial call at 7:00 AM appeared to be received by an answering service, but I did not receive a return call within the 30-minute time period estimate they gave me, so I called back almost an hour later. Scheduling the service call was a pleasant experience, also the technician arrived earlier within the window of time they stated they would arrive, which was very appreciated. The technician diagnosed the issue within 10-20 minutes and provided an estimate for repair, but did not specify any options or other considerations, including replacing the entire unit, which is 12 years old. Thankfully, my earlier research guided me to ask whether it made more financial sense to purchase a new unit, as the repair was estimated at almost half the cost of new unit. The technician agreed and kindly requested a quote for a new unit install. This took another 10-20 minutes. He explained the quote, and asked what I wanted to do. I felt uncomfortable making a decision as I felt uninformed of the perks, benefits and costs of the unit they were recommending. Additionally, I had concerns about our duct work and vents, which the technician stated would be an added cost to address, but did not offer to provide a quote or inform me how I could obtain one. I stated I would need to think about it and would call back. The technician charged me the service call fee. I informed him that the individual at Snyder who scheduled my appointment stated that I would receive a 10% discount for the service call as I was a "new customer". The technician then implied that this discount was no longer valid as he has spent more than 30-minutes with me, then charged me the full service call fee. In hindsight, I would have appreciated being directed to technician that would have been able to provide a "free quote" as stated on their website, and been given the discount for the service diagnostic, instead of being guilted into paying the full service call fee. Feeling less confident about the quality of service and care I would receive, I declined to make a decision at that time, paid the service fee in full and searched for alternative contractors to work with. To his credit, the technician did explain the issues he diagnosed, and pointed them out within the unit, and he called to check-in and offer a sooner install date. I'm not sure I would choose to work with Snyder again given the excellent customer service quality I experienced, in comparison, with the contractor I have decided to work with, but I might not be against contacting them again if I were ever in a bind. I would say my experience was average, not bad, could have been way worse, but it was not the best it could have been. My perception of the difference in quality of customer service, including the competitive quote I was given by the second company, made the difference between me doing business with them versus someone else.

Thank you for the feedback. We do offer Free Estimates on replacement systems unfortunately a service technician was needed to trouble shoot your system to see if it was repairable. I did speak with the technician and he said that he stopped charging you time and proceeded with a Free Estimate. I pulled GPS and he was actually was onsite for 1 hour and 23 minutes not including any travel time to your location. That is why he made the comment about the discount. I wish we could have done a better job at explaining this and we probably could have earned your business. AC went out at the house on Monday, July 7. I had used Snyder in the past for another house so they were top of mind when my daughter called me at work to tell me about the AC. However, I wanted to check them out on Angie's List before I called. They did have an excellent rating so I used the feature on Angie's List to contact Snyder. Unfortunately, I heard nothing from them all day so ended up picking up the phone and calling them on Tuesday, July 8. I don't know if the lack of communication was a process failure at Snyder to pick up the message via Angie's List or on the Angie's List end. By 11am, Shane was there and tried to fix my system but it was beyond repair. So, $488 later I still had no AC and it was clear I needed to replace the whole system. Since that was going to be a huge expense, I needed to work out finances before they could install but they put me in touch with the right people and we got that finalized by Thursday. We were on schedule to replace the AC on Friday, July 11. At the same time that I was dealing with the AC, I had some electrical work that needed to be done. That work ended up being scheduled for the same day. Hindsight is wonderful - I should have scheduled the electrical work to occur after the AC installation because as it happened, Mike arrived on Friday at the same time as the electricians and had to tell me that they could not both work in the same small room so they would install the AC on Monday, July 14. I was also moving the condenser to a different location outside so Snyder provided the electrician from R&R to move the electrical connection. I had limited interactions with R&R Electrical so really cannot comment on their services. Monday, July 14, I finally had AC but delays in installing were not in the control of Snyder. I do appreciate their professionalism and work ethic. Despite all that was going on in the house, they continued on and everything worked out. I do believe the price for the installation and equipment is fair, although you always have friends/neighbors who think you could have got a better deal with their company. We shall see. I plan to use Snyder for the ongoing maintenance so we will see whether I was right with my choice or not.

The technician from Snyder's did not call my husband upon arrival to my father's house. Instead, he began to look at the AC unit, part of which is in the garage. My father's car was parked in the garage in the area he needed to access and the technician wanted more room. My father is legally blind and no longer drives, so the technician attempted to turn on the car's ignition and back the car out. The car would not start because we have the battery disconnected in case my father tries to drive it. Thus, the technician couldn't get the car to start and my father couldn't explain why. The technician still did not call my husband whose phone number, we found out later, the technician had the whole time. Instead, the technician asked my father who services his car and my father told him. The technician then called the dealership himself and arranged for my father's car to be towed to the dealership for repair. The technician then left my father's house, stating he'd be back to work on the AC later when the car was gone. He still made no phone call to my husband. A little later, the Snyder's technician came back to my father's house and the car was still in the garage. The technician still did not call my husband. Evidently, he felt he could put the car in neutral and push it out of the garage, which is what he did. At this point, I realize we should have heard from Snyder's by now, so I call my father to find out what's going on. My father tells me, as best he can, what has transpired. I ask to speak to the Snyder's technician immediately, my father puts him on the phone. I inform him he was to do nothing without calling my husband first. I inform him I am the legal decision maker for my father which is why he is to deal with my husband and I first! I tell him not to touch the AC and leave the premises immediately. He tells me has already begun working on the AC unit and that he can't leave immediately. At this point, I became irate. I used a couple expletives and threatened to call the police, unfortunately, while explaining again he was to do no work without talking to my husband! He left immediately. I called the dealership just in time to cancel the tow truck. I called Snyder's to complain and was asked, "Do you remember the exact name of the person you talked to when you scheduled the appointment that told you the technician would call first?" Pathetic. I cancelled any future maintenance services with Snyder. We then called another AC company who arrived 2 hours later and fixed the problem, all the while keeping us informed through every step of the process. We will never use Snyder again...ever!
Description of Work: My father is elderly and lives alone. My husband and I manage the house for him since he doesn't see or hear well and has memory loss. His AC was only blowing hot air, so we called Snyder's (who'd been to the house before) to come out and look at it. We gave Snyder's specific instructions to call my husband FIRST upon arrival to the house and NOT TO DO ANYTHING without calling my husband first. We informed Snyder that, as my father's legal caregivers, we are the contact point for all work done in the house. The person at Snyder's who scheduled the appointment over the phone with my husband assured him the technician would absolutely call him as soon as the he arrived at the house.

Capacitor was out and when replaced everything started right up only minor so Sue is that we were told that we would receive a 10% discount for biing a first time customer - never received it.

Had them out for routine service, cleaning, and system check. The technician, Eric, arrived at the promised time. He was courteous, and went about his work efficiently, explaining everything as he went. He offered some additional services, but did not come back with the "high pressure" pitch when I declined. I did not purchase the service agreement when I made the appointment over the phone, wanting to see how good the service was, first. After Eric's professional visit, I added it - saving money on the winter tune-up.
Description of Work: Summer a/c tune-up, cleaning, and check. Replaced one capacitor that was going bad.

It took less that half the day to remove my outdoor unit and my upstairs air handler and to replace it with the new LENNOX system.
Description of Work: I had the entire HVAC system replaced with a SEER 22 Lennox system. The install went great and the unit performs effortlessly and is very quiet. Snyder was punctual, professional and very courteous. I will continue to use Snyder for all the PCM's for this system. GREAT WORK Snyder!!!

I'm disgusted with the company. I hired them to come out and do this assessment and they said the compressor and holding tank were rusted and needed replacement. I called them back a few weeks later because it wasn't working right after they replaced those parts. They came out and said I had a leak that would cost me an additional $3100. Firstly, I hired them to do an assessment and it wasn't done adequately. Secondly, the prices are ridiculously high. The quote for the condenser unit was about $1100 and I could have it installed for $300-$400. When I confronted them, I got a $1700 rebate, at least. They've installed some new things, but I might have to replace the whole system, which means I'm out all the money I've spent.

They fixed a leak for me under a warranty. He is always well. Overall, they are good, but pricy for their labor. Overall, they have a B grade. I am also going to use them in the future.
