My husband and I were out of town for two weeks. When we returned home,7 We noticed our hot water heater had rusty water streaks running down the sides. We called our home owners insurance protection company. They saw mold and recommended Microtech. They were at our home within 2 hours. They assessed the situation and after our insurance approval, (about 3 days) they started work. They removed lower outside wall to my master bath, removed and repaired a/c air handler, dried and treated the area. They painted my entire garage and finished the job in a timely manner.
Description of Work: REMOVED AND REPLACED A/C AIR HANDLER, WATER HEATER, AND WATER SOFTNER. DRYED AND REBUILT WATER DAMANGED' WALL.. Cleaned air ducks tho

While the onsite work was performed well the one nagging issue is that my husband and I always felt like they were pushing us to use their sister company to come in and repair the moldings, replace drywall etc. The backoffice is another story ? my insurance company called me to see if I was sent any paperwork (I was told I would receive my contact within a week) as they had not received anything from MicroTech. Once the paperwork was received I guess my insurance company considered it excessive and went into mediation with MicroTech, during mediation, MicroTech charged my credit card. Which I gave to them when I signed my contact and I can understand they want their full payment. However they NEVER contacted me to say ?we don?t agree with the insurance company and this is what we are going to do.? I did not receive an email notification (they have my email address), no snail mail notifying me of the charge to my CC, nor did I get any calls to my cell phone (they had that number too.) I had to get a call from the insurance company to see if they charged my credit card and sure enough they did. e i
Description of Work: We had water damage (nothing more than an inch) due to a broke water line under the sink, the water ran across our kitchen floor to other rooms. Generally we had water on the floor and wood molding, but nothing that was sitting in water as we had the water mopped up from the floor by the time the plumber got to our house. MicroTech came later int he day removed wood moldings though out the house, tore out part of my drywall in the kitchen (that faced an outside wall) and took up the carpet pads in the doorway of 2 bedrooms and the wood laminiate of another room . They brought in drying machines to remedy the problem.

They came and took pictures, and evaluated the mold. They then said they would call back, but they never called. They said they would build a report within 3 working days. I called and they said they were busy and that they would send me the report by fax. I had to go to my daughters because I didn't have a fax it was 40 pages long. After that I said okay come do it, but never heard from them again.
Description of Work: They came out to do an evaluation on mold in the closet.

Response from Microtech Water Damage Control Inc
MicroTech performed a mold evaluation on the customers property on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the request of the customer. Our stated time frame for providing a written mold evaluation along with the associated protocol and cost is 72 hours or 3 business days. The report was finalized for Ms. [removed member name] on Monday, March 24. A phone call was put into Ms. [removed member name] to see if she would like to have it emailed or preferred it sent snail mail on Monday, March 24. She did not return the phone call until Wednesday, March 26 with the preference of having the report emailed. The report was mailed on Tuesday, March 25 and emailed on Wednesday, March 26 to the provided email address, which we have record of. Our reports are typically not faxed due to their size and the numerous digital photos associated with the report, unless requested by the customer. MicroTech Production Supervisor, Alex Kearson, who also performed the evaluation at Ms. [removed member name]’s property, followed up with Mrs. [removed member name] regarding scheduling service on five instances including on March 27th, April 10th, April 24th, May 8th and May 22 as notated in the customer call log. Ms. [removed member name] did not remember who MicroTech was when called on April 10th, then after recalling who we are and that we had delivered the mold report, declined service at that time as well as all subsequent calls to Ms. [removed member name] resulting in her further declining our services each time. Mrs. [removed member name] at NO POINT IN TIME called to schedule the service with MicroTech, if she had, we would have performed the service that we spent hours of time preparing for, through our reporting method and our follow up procedures, and on the contrary; Mrs. [removed member name] , when repeatedly contacted, repeatedly declined service. Customer service is MicroTech's business and we take it seriously. MicroTech strives to resolve any reasonable and justified complaint in a timely fashion and to the satisfaction of the client. MicroTech was never aware or informed of any dissatisfaction with our services on any of the repeated attempts to secure Ms. [removed member name]’s business. MicroTech encourages any customer who is dissatisfied with any portion of our service to contact us directly as our phone lines are live 24/7, 365 days a year.

MicroTech was recommended by our remodeling contractor Joe Dethloff. I called them at 8:02am and their crew showed up by 8:45am that morning. Mark Smith, the lead technician was courteous and understanding of our situation. He introduced his partner, explained their procedures and promptly began working on moisture levels around the affected area. 1 hour later, Brian Sobolewski came to our house and sat with me for the next hour educating me on how the process works and set ample expectations for how long we could expect for the 1st phase (remediation) to last. The crew showed me all the damage that had occurred and asked plenty of questions about what lad up to my initial discovery. While the process required fans and dehumidifiers to run 24 hours a day, every effort was taken by the crew to make our home as comfortable as possible. The office administrator Trena, was always helpful, courteous and prompt in her communications. MicroTech's work was thorough with the moisture/mold remediation completion in a workman like fashion. The affected area passed the required "Clearance Testing" on the first sample. We are now entering into the re-construction phase using the contractor recommended by Brian and MicroTech.
Description of Work: Water Damage Remediation: Removed damaged drywall, insulation and wood flooring, constructed temporary containment area for moisture removal and mold treatment. Provided support and education to the process of "remediation" and what to expect from the insurance companies.

They do flood restoration and mold remediation and water damage. They took care of everything they even had the plumber there to fix the pipe and they had it all fixed last night. They got some dryers something like a dehumidifier to dry up the rest of the water and they are going to come back today to make sure that everything is dry. I would use their services in the future if necessary.
Description of Work: They came to clean up the water in our kitchen. I was taking my dishwasher out and a pipe busted and the whole kitchen flooded and this company was out within 45 minutes.

They did a very poor job of removing carpet padding. I hired another gentleman to install the padding, and he told me the padding had been removed in a very amateur way. When I confronted him about the job he failed to accept responsibility for it. I believe he may be doing this because I didn't use the contractor that he referred to me. After contacting several other companies in regards to MicroTech's pricing for this job, the general consensus is that I was charged an exorbitant amount. They say they offer a senior discount but one was never received. Upon checking with the contracting licensing board of Florida the company is not licensed for the work performed at my residence.

Response from Microtech Water Damage Control Inc
MicroTech performed formed water damage services for property owned by this member. The water damage was extensive and included removal of carpet padding that was unsalvageable per the HCRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration. On July 30, 2009, she contacted me with a verbal complaint regarding seams in the carpet which does not coincide which the complaint she has listed in your report. Based on the assessment of her carpet installer, she stated that we had "done A shoddy job" of disengaging the seams of her carpet. This was not the case. For this project, I performed both the pre and post inspections. As a Master Water Restorer in water damage restoration, certified from the Institute of Inspection & Restoration (#45750) including certification in carpet repair and installation, 1 am well qualified to make an accurate assessment of the condition of the carpet. When examining the area during pre-inspection, I noted that the seams were already separating due to the preexisting water damage coupled with the poor original installation. The seams of the carpet running at the junction of the vanity and the master bedroom are a prime example of seems that were already coming apart prior to the onset of my company's services. It was obvious that the initial installation was not done according to industry standards and that the sever water damage had only compounded the issue. Upon commencement of the job, carpet was detached in professional manner by and within industry standards; with a razor knife, fresh blades and a straight edge and/or cushion back cutter. Please note at no time before, during or after the job completion was the member at the property to comment on our work as she resides in California. During our conversation on July 30th, she mentioned that there was an odor in an unspecified area of her house. I am confident that our work was done consistent with our high quality service; however agreed to re-inspect the area. I have attempted to contact the member and her tenant/relative on three different occasions to enter the dwelling for a re-inspection. To date, there has been no response from her or tenant indicating we are able to re-inspect the suspect odor issue or the seam issue. She was ill advised by her carpet installer. I am willing to stand by my findings and have included detailed documentation of the work done for her. If the carpet installer can provide his credentials and qualifications to make claims on the seam issue coupled with a statement from his business regarding his assessment in writing on company letterhead, I would be willing to further discuss a negotiation. Further, I also believe that our rating from the member is unjust considering the service that was provided. Price: F It is obvious that she did not investigate the price quoted for water damage services. To bid our jobs, we use an industry standard price guide accepted by third parties and all insurance carriers across North America. Our prices are comparable to those in our industry and within our geographical demographic. Quality: D As the owner, Master Restorer, and 11 years in the industry with the successful completion of thousands of floods, I was on site for both pre/post inspections. The job was performed in an acceptable manner within industry standards. Responsiveness: D According to our records, we received the call at 9.50 a.m. on July 20, 2009. We were on site by 10:45 a. m. consistent with our one hour response time. Per our customer service evaluation dated July 20, 2009, the member indicated that technicians did not call to reschedule and arrived on time, every time. Professionalism: D Not only I but MicroTech are IICRC Certified. This certification entails a pledge in which we affirm to perform the highest level of service. Visit the IICRC website for a Certified Firm Pledge on ethics, integrity and professionalism. Taking into account, documentation, standards, certifications and our consistent overall ratings with several on line organizations and the local Better Business Bureau, I am confident in the work we performed. Since she does not have insurance to cover water damage to her property, I believe this is a poor attempt to attain free or discounted services. Fabulous job. Andres and John were at my house within 30 minutes of my phone call. They were very professional and did a thorough job. They also came by my house everyday to check their work and removed equipment as the project went on. They had my house dry in 3 days.
Description of Work: I had a pipe break that flooded my kitchen, dining room and living room. They dried it with their equipment and extracted the water from my house.
