This company put in 2 A/C units at a cost of over $11,000.00. A year apart. Both units have leaked consistently flooding my ceilings and to-date have cost me $5,500.00 in repairs.. My double oven and cooktop were being repaired and they closed the ticket without completion.. over 2 months passed before Milton the parts mngr got back to me and promised to make this right.. that was 6 weeks ago He wouldn't return my calls after that.. I left numerous messages for Bob Adrian owner and operator ext 250 who swears to return calls within 24 hours.. these people dont care.. [email protected] is my email.. I'm planning to have a class action lawsuit against this company. Send me your information and we'll see what we can do..

This company has the absolute worst responsiveness from their back office imaginable. They do not return phone calls and will not give you correct information. The first plumber who arrived to quote me smelled like alcohol at 9 am. Since I had to pay $125 just to get a quote I contracted them. They took money for the permit and then said they would have paperwork for me when I arrived. They rescheduled from Monday to Wednesday due to a problem with delivery of the water heater. On Wednesday they arrived and had no paperwork for my permit. They give absolutely no timing for arrival, just that it will be between 9 am and 5 pm and they cannot give a time. On the day I called and they said they will arrive in the afternoon. The plumber arrived was not able to remove the existing water heater by himself and needed help from my father as well as needed to use our tools in order to complete the job. The place was left completely dirty. They still could not give me an answer after the water heater was installed for when I would receive the permit paperwork. The people in the back office of this place are an absolute nightmare and I spent more than 1 hour on hold with these people with NO RESPONSE FROM THEM ABOUT MY PERMIT. DO NOT CONTRACT THESE PEOPLE.

The installation went fairly smoothly.  Removed old unit from roof and closet in unit.  Four men worked on project during the day.  They returned promptly the next day to tweak, and balance the unit airflow.  Very satisfied.
We have maintained a service contract with them over the past 42 years, and have been happy.
Unless Emergency, some calls have to wait four or five days to schedule.

I explained to the  company that my mother died a few days ago; that I had many guests in the house; that for me this was an emergency. They could care less.

Have a service contract with this company.  Have had one almost every year for almost 15 years.  They used to provide decent service although you would have to wait a few days longer than if you called anyone else.  However, they have gotten much worse and no longer care about customer service.
An appointment takes almost 4 days to get, if you are lucky!  Also, their model is to send out the newest, greenest person the first time.  This often results in multiple calls and visits to get something fixed.  If you get paid for your time at work then this can add up as you have to waste an entire morning or afternoon (or several if you have something more complicated than changing a light bulb).
Do not be afraid to escalate to the service manager.  That is the only way you will get things taken care of.  Sad they can stay in business with this model.  They ARE what drove me to Angies List and why I like it so much!!!

. First call for AC not working. The technician came and said it was a problem with the building pipe .Did not look at the thermostat even ! Did not wait for the building engineer.
We had to get someone else in and the problem was with the thermostat ,which was changed and now the AC is functioning.
I wrote a complaint and did recive a call back and the person who called back was polite and apologised and stated a supervisor would call me .There was no follow through from a supervisor. she did state that she will get someone to come in the next day if we cannot get it fixed ourselves. (So what am I paying them for?)
what a waste after waiting the entire day
Complained to the company and was told a supervisor would call but there was no follow through. I needed someone to look at an electical switch and I was told they would send an electrician and not the first guy who caame for the AC, but after another day of waiting the same guy turnrd up. He did not have the parts and said he would write a report .Changed one switch but did not cayry a white switch so now I hav a cream switch which stands out.He would not look at the second switch as he did not have it on him. After this call there was no response to my emails. You cannot contact them by phone as the numbers listed are incorrect

The new AC installation went fine, however, further problems continued afterwards. The unit failed inspection twice by the city of Lauderhill and once by Florida Power and Light.  FPL found electrical wiring of the AC was improperly done for the heating element,  and the city inspector failed the work for the same reason twice. The first time the company was notified of a failure, they promptly sent out a technician.  The second failure notification took 2 1/2 weeks for anyone from the company to even return our multiple phone calls requesting that they contact us to schedule a return visit to resolve the violation.  The supervisor and general manager of the company ignored our phone request and text messages to contact us;  and as of today,  3/6/14, have still failed to do so.
For some mysterious reason, after contacting city hall on our own,   we found out the city had closed out our permit without a final inspection.  No one from the company notified us of that despite the fact that they rescheduled a return visit from the city hall inspector.  That date resulted in a no show from the city which required more demands from the company.  Only until we requested to have the city inspection reopened did we get another failure for the same reason. Finally, after a total of three violations from inspectors, it has finally passed.
The supervisor and general manager could use some lessons from the technicians that are assigned to repair units.  They are professional, courteous, and usually arrive within the block of time specified. If it weren't for the technicians, the overall rating for this company would be an F.

Almost everything is not covered and it seems that they cannot fix anything correctly when I call them. They tell me that it is not covered by my contract when I contact them just about every time. I will not use them again.

I'm now having my second run-in with this company. It took them 2 months to replace a simple handle for the dishwasher. I won't get into the details of that story, but now I'm dealing with a new fiasco.
My landlord has had a contract with Total Appliances and Air Conditioning since 1973. For forty years, he's paid about two hundred dollars to maintain a service contract that states explicitly that it will repair and replace broken appliances and air conditioning parts.
Yet, Total is refusing to honor their agreement to replace to parts in the air conditioning that no longer work properly. Specifically, they want to charge $450 to replace two hoses and two ball valves despite the fact that the contract states they are responsible to replace any broken parts.
They engage in false advertising and then refuse to return your phone calls. I've called them 10 times in the past year over the same A/C problem; and they kept coming out and putting a bandaid on the problem rather than fixing it altogether.  (I also work so it's difficult to be home at the limited times they are available to make service calls.)
Now it's come to a point where the A/C has stopped working altogether. They could care less. There's no point in having a contract with this company. They won't honor their agreement and they won't have the courtesy to return your calls after promising to take care of the problem.
Don't use them. They're a nightmare to deal with.

You tell me! How would you feel without a/c for a week in the middle of the summer or without a refrigerator for a few days? Like to go to the laundry mat for two weeks?

One of the worst experiences with a service company I have ever had.

While they are a good company, I've had an unsatisfying experience with them.  If I knew there was a better company out there I would change.  It took almost a week for them to change the water heater, there was a weekend in the middle and a holiday, plus they needed permits.  I didn't have any hot water.  The last time it was a problem with the AC and they took a week again.  They are usually very slowly.  They pride themselves in not laying off their workers so when there is a busy season they tend to neglect the service.  They just don't have enough people to come quickly.  These apartments aren't designed to not have AC so when it fails you can cook inside.  I had to pay for the permit for the water heater, I don't understand why I need one but that's a whole other story. When they finally show up they do a good job.  There is a part of my dishwasher that keeps failing and it takes 2 months to order it and when they finally fix it it works once then shuts off again.  It must be a problem with the apartment.

I was put on hold and then transfered several times before being told that someone would call me back, which they never did. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with them just being transfered back and forth and put on hold. It was very annoying.

They told us what day they would be here and that it would be between 9:00 to 12:00. They showed up within that time and they seemed to know what they were doing. I needed a part, so they ordered it for me and came back out to put it in. They are very reliable and I would recommend them.
Response from Total Appliance

"Thank you for your review, it is very important to us. We serve over 40,000 contracts in South Florida and sometimes we make mistakes. One of Total's main goals is to resolve all problems as quickly as possible and to treat everyone fairly."

I paid for replacement coverage. They say as long as the unit cools they will not replace it. My a/c bill went from 85.00 to 138.00 and now to 185.00 they claim old units are not as efficient, and I should conceder replacing it. I am on disability, and I do not have the 3000.00 say a new one will cost. THAT'S WHY I HAD REPLACEMENT INSURANCE. These people are thieves in my eyes, they take your money than will not perform what was promised. I had to pay another a/c company to come out to give me an estimate they said MY A/C IS LEAKING ALL OVER THE ROOF AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED !

They told me if I was unhappy I could go somewhere else. When I first requested my money back, I got no response. I sent a certified letter requesting that, with again no response. Now when I call I get nasty feedback or I am hung up on.

From my contract they gave me $500 to replace my refrigerator because they couldn't fix it. I am satisfied with their service. They came out to and gave me a loaner fridge and took my old fridge.

I don't understand why it couldn't be fixed. They had it for 2 weeks. I just told them to bring it back. They wanted to charge $136. They were going to call me back but I haven't heard from them. They usually come whenever I call. I feel like this is unacceptable since I pay them a lot of money each year. I've been using them for years.
Response from Total Appliance

"WE ARE UNABLE TO GET REPAIR PARTS FOR THIS CUSTOMERS ICE MAKER REQUIRING HER TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE. HER PRESENT SERVICE CONTRACT DOES NOT HAVE ICE MAKER REPLACEMENT THAT IS WHY WE WERE GOING TO CHARGE HER FOR A NEW ONE. WE UNDERSTAND HER FRUSTRATION BUT SHE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT PARTS ARE NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR OLD EQUIPMENT."
