We had preventative maintenance done on 12/16/21 at a cost of $85, on 12/19/21 an after hours call was required due to capacitor needing replacement at a cost of $99. Had the test been run on the capacitor at time of preventive maintenance would have been discovered, not resulting in after hours call. Mr. Watts extremely RUDE AND ARROGANT. NEVER AGAIN!!

I work in a service industry, and I know how important customer relations are! The AC specialist, Raymond, told me he could be there in about 30 minutes. He made it in 25....... He had my AC unplugged, the drain on the outside was dripping all along, there was another plugged up line in the AC. From initial call to problem fixed an unbelievable 1 hour and 10 minutes. They were so responsive, pleasant and a op notch service, that I will call them up to set up a service plan for my AC from this point forward
Description of Work: My daughters called and said it was dripping water from the second floor, down to the family room below. As I live far away, I immediately looked at Angieslist and I found Charles M Watts AC. I spoke to a very pleasant young lady and she would have a AC specialist call me back. And he did within 10 minute. This happened at 1930 in the evening, 730 for non 24 hour people :)

Joe was a total pro with a great sense of humor which seems to be rare these days in customer service. This is the second time we have had Watts service our home a/c which is 25 years old and needs to be replace, but we were hoping to get through this summer before biting the bullet. I called a 3:30pm and he was at my door within an hour and had the temp dropping in short order. Highly recommend these guys and will be calling them when we replace the system!

So my energy company is having issues with one of their sub-stations in the area and were constantly cycling power all day long. Come to find out that this cause the capacitor on my heat pump to burn out. I called Watts AC around 7:30 pm on Tuesday and was expecting to get a voice-mail that I could leave information at to be called the next day. To my surprise I actually got to a person who was willing to get me in touch with a technician to answer my questions before setting an appointment. She had said she would give him all the details I gave her and he would call me. At this point a large thunderstorm and just rolled in, so I was hot, and it was muggy and bad outside and no where to escape to. The technician called me back though about 15 minutes after I hung up the phone. He told me the normal Diagnostic fee was $89 and that he could try and make it out there that night to take a look at the AC, Because of the storm though I declined and asked to set up an appointment for Wednesday morning. 8 am sharp I got a call from someone with Watts AC to setup and confirm getting a technician out ASAP, but warned me that the morning was already booked because of the high volume of calls. I told her that it was okay and got it set. Expecting to not hear anything back from them until 3 o'clock or so I started trying to find arrangements to take care of my dogs and family in the heat. The best part is that around Noon Raymond shows up at my door asking to take a look at the unit. I show him where I thought to be the trouble, the symptoms, and how I had disconnected the power. He had me turn the power back on, took a look at a couple things, turned to me and told me the capacitor burned out. He then grabbed one from the truck, informed me of the price of it being $100 for it(of course I would have agreed to anything to get it fixed, but he even showed me it in their price booklet to put my mind at ease), and then he installed it. Everything was said and done by 12:17 and my AC is running again. Raymond was great and I will gladly call them again in the future. He even told me some tips to check in the future if it happens again and what would have caused it. TL;DR Took 1 call, 17 minutes, and $130 and my AC is ice cold again.
Description of Work: I had initially called to just get a diagnostic of why my AC stopped working. I saw the reviews here on Angie's List plus had heard a lot of word of mouth for this company so I decided to give them a try.

I called Watts due to all the A ratings on here from them. We were not disappointed. My a/c unit was 9 years old and could not keep the house cool. Jonathan immediately came out and gave us a great price on a energy efficient one. He suggested to add a dual vent in living room also as the room never got cool enough during the summer. After we agreed on price it was about 2 weeks until the install could be done. Our a/c really got bad in the meantime and they called to check up on us and sent a guy out to put in freeon at no charge until the new unit could be put in! They did a fantastic job on the install. Two guys came out and installed the new energy efficient 3 ton unit. They redid the mastic where the inside unit sits, broke up old concrete slab that old unit sat on, put new slab in and installed new vent. Because we got a energy efficient unit we were eligible for a $275 credit from TECO! The house has never been this cool, the a/c unit works great! If you have a/c problems just call Watts and you won't have to worry about anything.

I'm very impressed and will use Watts for all my A/C services. I called on Wednesday for a check-up and, after explaining that I needed help quickly, was able to get an appointment for Friday morning. The serviceman, Steve, called that morning to let me know he was on his way and when he expected to arrive, and he was on-time. Steve was friendly and professional. We'd bought the house 6 months ago and had not had the A/C serviced, and it turned out that the previous owner hadn't had it serviced in a while either, and Steve spent nearly two hours on the job. And the best part is that it still only cost $20 since I'm a new customer. I will definitely be using Watts for my A/C service and maintenance needs in the future.

I called several weeks ago to make an appt. for a general clean and check of my homes A/C. Since it was not an emergency, it was scheduled several weeks out, which is understandable. I mentioned I found them on Angie's List when I scheduled the apt. On the day of service the tech, David, was a few minutes late but not a big deal. He did a very thorough job of cleaning and checking my unit inside and out. He worked for over an hour. He was very professional and provided some suggestions to make my A/C run as efficiently as possible. The biggest surprise is the bill. At the time I called to make the appt. there was not an Angie's List discount for new customers, but now there is. So, I was only charged $20! What a pleasant surprise! I will definitely be calling them for any HVAC needs in the future and will recommend them to my friends and family. Ohhh, and the money I saved more than paid for my Angie's List subscription.

Great! I have only good words for the overall experience. There was no hard sell, they were able to get me a new unit the same day I called in with my a/c problem. Installed it that afternoon and I was cool again that evening. All of the people I dealt with from Watts were professional and courteous. The technician said that they could clean the coils of my a/c, but I made the decision to replace the 19 year old unit. Call me spoiled, but I didn't want to have to go through the "no air" experience again any time soon. I would most definitely recommend Watts A/C and will be calling them for the maintenance on my new unit.

We contacted Watts Air Conditioning on a Sunday morning, we had a technician to our house a short while later. The experience began with a brusque, off-putting instance. My father-in-law and myself showed him out to the air conditioner and stood there, partially observing, partially awaiting indication of some sort of diagnosis. Neither my father-in-law nor myself were doing anything to detract from his work, my father-in-law sort of shifted around, curious, hoping to observe his routine, all the while maintaining a respectful distance of 3-4 feet. The technician noticed and warned, "please don't stand behind me, sir," in a tone that did not reflect due respect. I feel as long as the position provided safe berth and was not inhibiting the technician's ability to work, it shouldn't be a problem. Its my unit on my property, and if I would like to watch the work of the person I have just hired to operate, I have everyone right and reasonable expectation to do so. We retreated inside, awaiting a knock on the door to discuss the diagnosis and options and pricing. After awhile (and noting from occasionally checking through the window) of seeing that he was not at the unit, I went out and gamely asked, "so, how's it looking?" He responded, "It was a bad capacitor, it's already done." I said, "Oh, you fixed it already?" He replied, "Yep." Okay, based on the fact that this is a relatively minor repair, this, in and of itself, wasn't so bad. However, this is not the way such business should ever be conducted. It only leads to potential problems for the homeowner and stands in total disregard for the company's interest whom the technician represents. What if I had made the decision to pursue other prices, as is my prerogative? Let me be absolutely clear, at no point during my extremely limited and limiting conversation with this technician did I suggest he perform the repair regardless. He then informed me the cost for the visit and repair would be $130.05. Again, not so bad. However, I had a coupon I had printed (from Angieslist, no less), that entitled me to a $20 initial service call. This is where the visit really went south. He audibly sighed, rolled his eyes, and said to me, "I wish you had told me about this before I wrote you up." To which I responded, "I didn't know you had even finished the job, let alone began writing me up." He said, "You could have mentioned it when I first arrived." I told him, "Well, I'm sorry, but I am not a mindreader." I handed him the coupon, he began to walk away and said, "most of these are expired but I guess we are still taking some of them." The coupon had no expiration date printed on it and I pointed that out, told him it wasn't my problem and that if the company didn't intend on honoring coupons readily available, they should take them out of circulation. It is worth noting that all he needed to do to fix the paperwork was scratch out a rewrite three lines, the diag/trip charge, subtotal, and total. I began to get cash out and of course he had a bit of a warning/objection to that, "if you pay with cash it's gotta be exact." I told him I was, in fact, looking to see what sorta cash I had (I remitted $65.25 for the $65.05 job, after the $65 reduction for the diag/trip charge). I told him to have a great day, got my receipt, and that was, thankfully, the end of the experience. I would like to summarize this whole situation fairly. It was a Sunday, and the response time was astoundingly quick. Apparently the repair was done correctly, the air conditioner is working seamlessly now (and the part carries a one-year warranty). I feel the price was fair, although this is a bit of an uneducated assumption as I didn't call around to price such a repair. As a consumer, and one that actually used to work for a paint contractor as a job estimator, I feel my opinion is both qualified and unbiased. I am certainly not looking for someone to be *overly* friendly towards me, but I do expect to be respected. Nothing about this particular technician's rapport with me would suggest that he had any feeling towards me other than contempt. It was entirely unacceptable. All that said, I would call and request service from Watts in the future, but I would certainly tell them to *not* send this particular technician to me again under any circumstances.
Description of Work: My A/C began exhibiting intermittent failure. The fan on the actual unit outside would refuse to run even when the compressor would kick on.

Response from Charles M Watts AC
From the flavor of this complaint I sense a little animosity on both sides. This is no excuse for my technician and actually is quite surprising as this particular technician is usually skillful at diffusing a situation as are all of our technicians. We understand that by the time we arrive at a home it's usually pretty hot and this does not promote the best of moods. We encourage and are actually thrilled for people to watch our repairs and show an interest in what we are doing, but we would rather them join in beside us or watch from a distance. I don't think anyone would like to be working in a corner with someone standing 3 feet behind them. With the bad press A/C companies receive we want everyone to know exactly what we are doing to there system. Installing the capacitor is a very simply repair and actually needs to be done as part of the completion of troubleshooting the system. Since it is such a simple repair my technician apparently did not feel the need to price it in advance. If the customer wants to get other quotes they are certainly welcome, the capacitor itself is a simple repair and can be removed and the defective one reinstalled in a matter of minutes, leaving the customer without A/C to get additional quotes. The technician probably was a little confused on the Angie's List coupon, we had recently been offering this to all of our customers and had just changed it to Angie's list customers only. We don't even require the coupon, just mention the offer and you get the $20 service call. We would prefer that you mention it up front or at least before the technician makes out his invoice, it is kind of unprofessional to cross out and make corrections on an invoice, but it does have to happen sometimes. I have had a little talk with the technician involved and believe he may have been a little gruff, but feel he learns well from his mistakes and will continue to give our customers the quality and friendly service they deserve

Everything went well. He arrived on time. We used the Angie's list coupon and received $85 service for $20! We will use Watts again when we need to eventually replace this unit.
Description of Work: Provider assessed situation of outside air unit. Noise was not occuring at the time of inspection but he correctly diagnosed the situation and made a recommendation to replace the motor once it stopped working. He said we could wait until it stopped working before replacing it as it still probably had a little more life in it. He also went into the attic to the other part of the unit and flushed the drain and inspected the unit.
