My a/c unit was leaking and I called Alert and the son of the owner, Kevin, came out. He said that nothing was wrong with the a/c service so I ended up buying a new water heater. After purchasing the new water heater, the same problem came back within two hours. My pan was full of water which left me to know that the a/c unit was the problem because the pipe was blocked. I called the plumber back, as well as the a/c guy. The a/c guy from Alert was very nasty on the phone. He said that if he were to come out for an emergency call then it would cost $150.00. I told him that I was not going to pay that because it was his fault that he did not detect that it was the a/c unit that was the inital problem. I have since returned to my home this November and I went to Alert's office on the 2nd of November to complain that I was not able to get the air filter out and the owner of the company, Doc Sanford, apologized for his son giving me the wrong information and he refunded the service fee I paid for the initial visit. He gave me the refund by means of a business check, however, I have not cashed it yet. He ended up coming to my house on the 3rd of November to look at the a/c unit since I could not get the filter out. He said that he would look into this and get back with me. I have yet to hear back from him and I am stuck with a filter that I must take out every month to clean. I am afraid that by taking this filter out every month that I will end up breaking something on this unit. I have attempted to call him almost every day since then. The receptionist has continually told me that he has been in meetings or that he is away. Today I was informed that he is out of town and she does not know when he will be back. I told her that since he has yet to return any of my calls that I will have to take the matter further.
Response from Alert A C & Appliance Service
"Let me share that first of all her filter complaint is not a problem in my licensed professional opinion. This machine was installed 4/7/2008 has never had an issue the entire time it has been in service. I am sure if there was a problem with the filter she would have contacted us prior to our most recent service date. It recently was inspected by me and was with in factory specs at that time. In regards to her service complaint, She had an issue with the 30 years old water heater that was without a doubt inspected by the licensed plumber that she contacted and that he replaced. I am sure Member would share that in fact there was no water leaking on top of her water heater prior to the plumbers completing his installation. I am sure that being the professional plumber that if prior to replacing the tank if water was leaking down from the a/c or anywhere else for that matter he would have notified her. I am sure that while he was replacing the water heater that water was leaking down on top of him from the a/c he should have told her, or it was not leaking prior to the plumber working in the area and the plumber replaced a 30 year old defective water heater. So if the plumber inspected the water heater and it was not leaking he would not have replaced it. Now she claims that two hours after the plumbers installation a water occurred, located at the airhandler. She never contacted my firm for the need of further service of the machine in which a return service call would have been with in her 30 day warranty and no further cost to her for us to reappear and inspect the a/c equipment would have been charged to her. However I did feel due to the overall situation it was a plumbing problem from the start, so I felt compelled to have my office issue her a credit for her service call, but I do not feel that we have any further obligation to her based on the service history. Sincerely, Doc Sanford FL State Certified HVAC Contractor"

I initially called for a repair to the existing A/C unit. The repair was done very poorly, and I called again when that repair failed. The owner's son came out with a very nasty attitude, but when he determined that the repair was not done correctly, he responded by apologizing for the bad attitude he came in with. He called his father, the owner of the company, who came out and offered a large discount if I put in an entirely new system. I agreed, and they installed it while I was out of town. 7 months later, the drip pan they installed had a bent drain tube, and it has leaked across the ceiling and down the wall. When I called for service, the woman who answered the phone was as nasty as the son when he originally came out to inspect the repair that was done improperly. I give up on these folks... I will never pay them another dime to fix their shoddy workmanship.
