Art showed up on time and went right to work. He was professional, knowledgable and pointed out the necessary oversights that the other company overlooked when they did the scheduled maintenance. He had the tape on the truck that was needed to secure a loose connection. He confirmed that a return was not hooked up and denied my needing to add intensive duct work throughout the home like the other company said. I made an appt to have the return connected and I will sign up for a maintenance agreement at that time. I have finally found a reputable, honest,competent decent,fair,experienced and talented HVAC man!

Both jobs were done fine. Their cost came out very reasonable. They actually quoted a much lower estimate on the remodeling job, much better than the other estimate I got from highly rated AC repair firms. On the remodeling job, there were unforeseen complication that required them to come back and do some additional work. They came back and finished the job without charging me anything extra.

Called and set up appointment with Art for next Saturday to do maintenance tuneup because a/c seemed to be running too much. A few hours later, I realized that it was not actually blowing cold air. So, he came out today and went through the entire system, cleaning everything and replacing a wire that was burning next to the warm compressor. He then ran up to the attic and back outside several times in the almost two hours he was here to make sure everything was working properly. I just spent over $1K to rebuild our van transmission and was sick to my stomach at the the thought of a big home a/c repair. Art could have made several expensive excuses as to what was wrong or charged me some type of extra fee for coming out the same day. Instead, he said everything now looks good and only charged for tuneup and new electrical wire. Within an hour, our house was nice and cold again! A++++ service!

Art showed up as promised, gave the system a pretty thorough inspection, added some refrigerant, and gave it a passing grade, explaining most things as he went, and answering our many questions. Spent maybe a good hour and a half- we expected a much bigger bill and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice guy, knows his stuff, but will take the time to explain. Much appreciated.

It's great to find an honest AC repair company! The Shades rep diagnosed the problem immediately and had the part on hand in his van to fix it. Rather than trying to stick me with a $1000 or $2000 bill like most AC repair companies do, Shades fixed the problem for only $149. They are honest, competent, and reliable. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

My A/C stopped working and the service provider I called wasn't able to get to me even after 3 days. I called Shades on Thursday night around 8pm and he not only answered the phone and had a pleasant conversation with me about my problem but agreed to start his day early the next day and come check out my system at 8am. Right at 8am on Friday morning the doorbell rang and it was Arthur from Shades. He looked over my system and quickly assessed that the coil in the air handler had a leak. He said he was not able to get the replacement part until after labor day but filled the unit with coolant and said if I had any issues over the holiday weekend to feel free to call him and he would come back out and charge the system again. Later that day, after checking on the cost of the part, he gave me what seemed like a reasonable estimate which I confirmed later was indeed a good price. He scheduled to come back out on Tuesday at 8:30 and said the job would take about 2 hours. After picking up the new coil he showed up right at 8:30 and was done in about 2 hours. The final cost was exactly what he quoted. A few days later the unit stopped cooling again...on a Saturday. I called Arthur who called me back as soon as he got my message. He said he would be out to check it out in a few minutes and sure enough, in a few minutes he was there. He determined that the capacitor had gone out. He pulled one off his truck and had it installed and the system up and running in about 30 minutes. For that weekend, emergency call he only charged me $75!! Arthur/Shades provided outstanding service, did quality work, charged a reasonable price (exactly what he quoted), and backed his work...even on a weekend. I would not hesitate to use Shades again and would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, reasonably priced A/C service provider

Art was polite and professional over the phone and made time for me on a holiday without any hassle. He came out, checked out the unit, had to let it dethaw. So he left for another service call and then came right back and resolved the issue. I would call him again for any service or maintenance work.

I called the Company that was provided by my home warranty company and they couldn't come for 4 days. I was without AC. I called Shades and spoke with Arthur. He told me he could be there the same day between 2 and 4pm. Arthur arrived at 1:50 (10 minutes early), diagnosesd and fixed the problem within 30 minutes

Called in am. Came out at 1pm same day. Replaced capicitor on condensor at my parents house. AC now working fine. Couldn't ask for more. Prompt, efficient service. Reasonable price. Nice man.

I called Shade's and spoke with Art the owner. What I was trying to find out was why two service companies said I did NOT have a heat pump when the last 4 years our system has been serviced as a heat pump & the condenser said it WAS a heat pump. We have a Warranty with First American and they sent these idiots to us. Art was a so wonderful to tell me they could not determine if we had a heat pump just by looking over the top of the condenser like they did & would have to take a panel off the side to see if there was a transfer valve. The last First American company sent out here apologized for their error but took over an hour to actually fix the problem. I will recommend Shade's to every person I know simply because of how helpful Art was when I called. He could have "blown me off" when he realized I wasn't going to make him $, but instead he gave me good advice and was so helpful! Shade's has an A rating with Angie's list and I can see why!! My husband is a real estate broker/agent and believe me, he's going to remember Art's sincerity in trying to be helpful!!

They did an amazing job. Arthur came and he had to order a part. My dad had come down with the shingles that weekend and Arthur was able to get the unit partly working and having the air conditioner to put out some cool air until he came back with the part. We really appreciate him able to get it working under the circumstances. We would definitely highly recommend him.

Would recommend to anyone! He was there when he said, and went above and beyond what the initial issue was. He gave us some good advice and even found the "hidden" access to the air handler nobody else could find. Great experience!

The technician, Arthur, arrived on time. He looked at the unit and I described the situation to him. He knew exactly what the problem was, and got the part from his truck, replaced it and then he even cleaned off the unit had me turn the breakers back on and the unit began to function properly. He was very professional and courteous. I also mentioned that I had a filter that was located in the air handler that was in need of replacement, but I did not know where in the air handler it was or the make or part number. He again knew exactly where to look and was able to locate a supplier with the proper replacement using his cell phone. He went and got the part and was back within a few minutes (less than 30 minutes) and installed the filter. I was very satisfied with the service and with Arthur and his professionalism, knowledge, experience and the work he preformed. I highly recommend Shades Air Conditioning. I have asked friends about the work done and the price and they are amazed at the cost and told me I got a very good service at a very good price.

Called Arthur as I thought my compressor went bad as it wasn't running the day before. Came out in 20 minutes and we turned the a/c back on. Compressor came on. He said it overheated and that it was fine. He gave me some advice on where to clean so to prevent in the future. Now that was honesty! Based on my experience with his honesty, I would definitely recommend and use him when I have future a/c needs. Thank you.

I am not used to hiring contractors so I am not sure exactly what criteria to use but I felt as though I got a very fair deal. They were on time, cleaned up after themselves, didn't curse while they were working. Everything was done to code. The guy who came to look at the system when I called was a technician and the owner not a salesperson looking for a commission ... I liked that. I looked up the price of the system and added that to the time it took them to do the work, 2 guys for 10 hours at $65 per hour plus the cost of the system they installed, worked out almost exactly to what they charged me. First he told me they could do it on Saturday but because I had no A/C at all he moved me up to Friday which was a big help as well. I hope I don't need them for a long long time, but if I do I will certainly use Shades again.

I highly recommend them; they solved our problems when others could not. They are courteous, prompt, and everything you?d want them to be. Their price was very good and it was a pleasant experience. We will definitely use them again.

We liked him when we hired him and he has come back to service the unit twice a year since then. He has just been wonderful. He comes in uniform and cleans up after him self.

I have had the pleasure of using this company twice thanks to TotalProtect. Once for the heater and this time for the a/c. He came between the timeframe promised. Quickly figured out the problem and went back to his shop for a part and came back to fix it that day so we weren't without a/c for another day. He did the same with heating element that was out last March. The one piece lower my electric bill in half. Which was nice since we have had record highs and lows this year.

A/C was out and the unit was old and unique shape due to being in a condo. Called one Angie's List A/C repair, quote was right away and price was almost really high. Called my A/C repair, took weeks because of the unique size and shape for a quote and price was a little lower. Friend referred Shades and that he and all his friends/family use them. Called and he came out for a quote which he was able to give me right away and able to install that week. Price was $2300, which was significantly lower than the other 2 quotes. 6 months later I am still pleased with their competence, quick response, service, the equipment and the price. Everything went smoothly and very pleasant person to work with. Sent an email to all my friends recommending Shades and one used them a week later. Bedroom unit not working for weeks and they fixed it with a part in the truck for under $100. He was real happy.

1st problem was thermostat. They corrected that. Put new thermostat in, had it right on the truck. They were polite and prompt. I was impressed. Second time, they found the problem with the a/c. Had equipment on the truck to fix it. Very nice people.
