Thank you to all Angie's customers who rated this company. The young man who came to the house was wonderful--explaining everything. I would absolutely call back for any future air conditioning problems (keeping my fingers crossed there aren't any!) And don't forget to use the Angie's list coupon. It saved $85 for the house visit.

If I could give I sland Air Conditioning a rating higher than an "A", I would! Not only are they experts in their field, but they are also professional, honest, courteous, neat, and prompt. We lived with continual AC problems for 4 years... Multiple companies tried to fix the problems... Steve, at Island Air Conditioning, correctly diagnosed the problems and fixed them! Hurray!

A great experience from beginning to end. The sales rep, Brian, was patient and answered all questions clearly. There was no high pressure game playing. He quoted three possible systems, and explained the pros/cons of each. I had a couple of questions the following day and just dropped into their office while I was running errands. Everyone there was very nice and my questions were answered clearly and promptly. There was a family atmosphere there that was very refreshing! The installation team was just as good. They were very patient with the questions of a curious homeowner (me) and dealt with some unexpected complications much better than I would have had I been doing the work! The job was completed as promised. They were qualified, professional, and polite. A couple of days later, there was a problem with the line that carries condensation out of the house. This was not an issue of the installation. This happened about 4:30 on Friday afternoon. Brian came out within 20 minutes, cleared the problem and again patiently explained what had happened. We have had excellent performance from the system since then. Fair price, competent staff, local company.... They have earned my continuing business.

They were very reasonable with the price. The gentleman was very nice. They were able to come out the same that I called for the appointment. I purchased a service contract from this company.

Do know what all you need to have the tech check ,ie coils ,freon ,cooling ,heating etc .

My central a/c started blowing hot air and was not cooling my home. This occured shortly after 6pm. Called for an emergency service call at 7:20pm. Jimmy the technician called me back at approximately 7:45pm. He showed up at 8pm. He was able to diagnosis the problem and fix it in a little over an hour. Was very pleased with the service and the professionalism of the tech. Would definitely use this company again

They did a good job. I am satisfied with the work. I just need a more in depth cleaning and a more reasonable price.

We downloaded a coupon from Angie's List and were able to use that. The work was covered under warranty because the air conditioner was new. We also purchased a contract with them. The guy who came out was courteous and professional. It was a good experience. All of their ratings were A on Angie's List, which is why we called them.

They were very honest and professional.

Air conditioner started to blow hot air in the afternoon, noticed fan not running on outside. It was after 5pm. Tried calling phone number on unit itself, they were closed and then remembered we were with Angie's list and looked up air conditioning for our area. Island Air had so many good reviews, and we were desperate and worried that it was going to be a huge repair. We called and left a message for emergency service. Colt called us back within about 15 minutes. He set up a time and quoted the emergency diagnostic fee and asked how we would pay. He was out to us pretty quickly and right away found the problem. He cut and cleared the drain line and adjusted it to the proper angle so it would work the way it needed to. He was patient with my husband and answered and explained everything he was doing and what we should do in terms of maintaining it. We were so impressed with how everything was handled that we went ahead and signed a one year platinum service agreement for $165.00, which would include 2 tune-ups per year and 24 hour emergency service and no overtime charge. Colt never pressured us or said anything about it until we asked and we decided it was worth it to head off any future disasters with our unit. It is great for peace of mind and if we hadn't had joined Angie's List, we honestly would not of known where to turn to so quickly, so, we will definitely renew our subscription, also.

I don't understand how they could have the lowest estimate and do such excellent work. Two men came to install the unit. One very experienced and the other in training. They worked very well together. The trainee was very eager to learn and the guru was eager to teach. Lots of questions were asked and answered. I was happy to see this kind of mentoring to pass the trade on and build a great company. Work was well done and their attention to detail was above par. After a few days, a board went bad in the unit. They came out and replaced it the same day. They have performed 2 free (6 month) checkups where they actually did do checks and cleaned the coils, even though they looked perfectly clean to me. I have had the system for ~1 1/2 years and I am very happy.

As an absentee landlord, I felt like they communicated well. Scheduled the appointment quickly. They applied a first time user coupon when I mentioned Angie's List.

They were the best company we encountered in Southern Florida in 10 years. We took them to lunch; they were so good! We liked the people, service, price, attention, and expertise. It was fantastic! There was an energy program in Florida. They took care of seeing that we got the rebate for it. I was very pleased.

Technician spent over 2 hours evaluating the system, charged the system, checked everything.. replaced a part and came back 4 days later when another leak was detected..

*****WARNING - BUYER BEWARE***** *****FRAUDS***** The Island Air Conditioning technician, Colt, called ahead and showed up approximately as scheduled. He went up to the roof of my two story townhouse, and eventually returned. Colt stated that the problem was the compressor, which he checked with his office, and we were out of warranty and the compressor was rather expensive. He presented an invoice/estimate - which thankfully I have a copy to establish my credibility - stating that it would cost $1554.00 to replace the compressor. He even chatted back and forth as if on a radio-phone with his office, and I heard them verify my compressor was 'out-of-warranty' and they were sorry to say it was an expensive compressor to replace. Technician Colt continued, showing me pictures on his phone of the 'terrible condition' of my a/c, pointing out the extraordinary rust, and a picture of his hand holding a large piece of metal, the size of his hand, which the 'rust' had apparently eaten around. He also showed me a picture supposedly of the coils with a bright orange looking area, which he stated was rust. Colt stated this all probably happened because of the condition of the drain and drain pan. Colt stated the coils were in rough shape and even if he were to replace the expensive compressor, it was possible that the coils would go very soon - they were in such bad shape - and that the coils were more expensive than the compressor. Colt recommended instead, replacement of the entire a/c unit, and he arranged through his office for someone to come out and provide an estimate for various replacement options and models. No one showed up, instead someone called, said they could provide an estimate over the phone based on the technician's report. They stated over the phone that it would cost $4700.00, offered no other options and failed to discuss what name brand, features or anything. Everyone was extremely polite and 'smooth'. Fortunately, technician Colt put on the Island Air Conditioning estimate: "Need to set-up survey" and "Recommend replacement due to condition" so that I can prove to anyone who cares, what I am reporting, that Island Air Conditioning strongly recommended buying a new a/c unit. However - none of this made sense, as I was pretty sure our warranty was for at least 10 years. I also knew we had the a/c unit checked periodically with the only other problem having been a burnt fuse. I called the guy who checked on my a/c through the years, who I thought was out of business. In fact he had retired, was adamant we had a warranty, and at 77 yrs old offered to come out and look at the unit. He and his son, who is not in the business, came out, checked the a/c unit, agreed that the compressor and a reverse flow valve [think that's what they called it] needed to be replaced - but fortunately I was covered under Amana's 10 year warranty - easily discoverable with the make, model & serial number on the unit. They stated the a/c unit was in great shape, with only normal wear and tear, and normal absolutely minimal rust near some couplings. They assured me there were no pieces of metal laying around and could not imagine what the Island Air Conditioning tech was holding - I suspect it's a stock picture he has in his phone to mislead customers - the same with a 'fake rust' picture. They offered to do the repair work as a favor and two days later, the air and heat are working fine. The repair cost was minimal. Needless to say I am severely disappointed with Island Air Conditioning. They clearly tried to take advantage, since the a/c was on a two story roof, knowing it was unlikely I could verify their claims and statements. This can not be a mistake, Island Air Conditioning knowingly fabricated the 'out-of-warranty' story - even with a convincing call to the office, which i could hear both sides - [they have it polished and down pat with a sympathetic office lady 'tisk tisking' how expensive this particular compressor was], 'excessive rust' story and 'over all poor condition' story to try to take advantage with either an unnecessarily expensive repair or needless replacement. Outrageous, such conduct should be criminal.

The crew came out and took out the old furnace and air conditioning equipment and installed the new equipment as proposed in the estimate in one day. They stayed after hours and cleaned up after the installation very well. We couldn't ask for a better outfit to do our air conditioning and furnace replacement.

I was very satisfied with the service provided. The service person was friendly and professional. He fixed a part that a previous company had cut corners with. One thing that impressed me about the company (after talking to the service guy) is that many of the employees have been there for 10 plus years. I will definitely use them again.

I was very surprised by their great level of service. They were very responsive, came on time and delivered on what was promised. I think it is hard to find a small business that takes the amount of care that Island provides. I am happy that I found them and used them.

They initial consultation was excellent. Overall, they did a very good job of installation, however, it take longer than expected.

The sales person was excellent. He was knowledgeable and gave me several options. The price was good but not quite the lowest. The office staff was very good. My only issue was with the installation. Although I think they did a good job, they didn't give us a filter with the new A/C and did not foam in the coolant return lines (which the salesman said they always did but most other companies did not). When I called the office about this, they immediately sent someone out to take care of these relatively minor items.

My 2 year old A/C needed several parts, one of being a faulty switch on a PC board. It was replaced with a new board the very next day. Excellent service, great company, professional & extremely co-operative. Honest. I highly recommend this company.

They did a very excellent job. They were very clean and nice. I was very pleased.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Steve came to our home and gave us a proposal on the same day we called. He made suggestions as to brand,size and type of units to use that made more sense to us than other competitive proposals. When we got prices on the same equipment that Steve specified from other dealers, we found him to be the most competitive. Although a competitor agreed to beat his price we gave the job to Island. Good decision! A three man crew arrived on time (8:30AM) and completed the entire job by 4:30 in the afternoon. That included the removal of the old 3 and 5 ton units and the installation of the new equipment. Keep in mind that the air handlers were on the second floor. We were given instructions on the use of the thermostats and they cleaned up the house so you would not know any thing of this magnitude had taken place in our home and they went on their way leaving a very happy customer behind. Could not be more pleased.

They are very good. They are a very nice company. They are very professional, timely, and prompt.

My A/C stopped blowing air. It would turn on, but no air was coming out of my vents after it was on for a while. Also it was staying on much much longer than usual and not cooling the house down cause the air would slow to a trickle and then stop all together. I would turn off the system at that point. I thought I needed a whole new air conditioner. I researched a/c companies on here and I liked what I saw that was written about Island Air being honest and doing good work etc.. I was so happy and surprised when they told me that I did NOT need a new air conditioner but I did have years of sludge and growth on my coils and THAT'S what was the cause of the failure. The coils were so gunked up from mold growth that it was freezing up the system. They could not perform the cleaning that day, but put me on the schedule for the next day. The girls in the office who answer the phones were very nice. I was relieved to not have to invest in a whole new system right away. Though I was very pleased with my experience with them, I did not give them the "best" rating on the price because I did think it was a little on the high side for cleaning coils with my hose. However, I was HAPPY to pay it vs. thousands for a new system, and VERY THANKFUL that they were so honest as to repair it instead of easily selling me a new system. I would use them again in a heartbeat!
