Island Air Conditioning

I live in NC. In-laws have unit in FL. Had to arrange for repair or replacement from a thousand miles away, so went with company that seemed trustworthy based on Angie's list reviews. Everyone was friendly, professional, and kept in constant communication without my prompting. They handled the coordination with the condo unit manager to schedule access.

Recieved estimate, made choice to use Island Air best decision, showed up on time, Installation was done timely. Professional, courtesy installation team.

My 17 year old central air unit finally died. I used Angies list to find a company with a good track record. I called Island Air and they had an estimator out that day. Nice man. I went up to the 5th floor roof with him to view the unit. 2 years ago another company told me that I needed a new unit. They were wrong, my unit has worked well since then. Their tech., (Bob?) did a great job explaining the situation, I was convinced that the old horse was finally dead. That same evening Steve, one of the principals of the firm, visited me to assess my needs and quote me a price. He was very professional, a nice man. The system ended up costing $3300. This was approximately the price that I expected. This is not a door-buster great price. I believe that this is a few bucks lower than what the average would be in this market. I am convinced that the service and reliability that this company will provide more than justifies the price. This occurred on a Friday, the job was scheduled for Monday. On Saturday night an emergency called me out of town. I left a message on their answering machine. I returned home on the following Friday. I called and was told that now the next date would be Wednesday. I grumbled just the slightest bit, (it's getting hot down here in Delray), their office manager, (Caroline?), was able to move some things around and set the job for Tuesday. The guys showed up at 8:34 Tuesday morning, only 4 minutes late..lol. Two perfectly agreeable young tradesmen. They did the installation in 2 hours less than I was advised to expect. They were neat and obviously competent. I have nothing but good feelings about this whole situation. I expect that this company will stand behind their work for years to come. I have a free tune up in 6 months and I am sure that they were sincere when they told me to call them with any questions or concerns I might have. Island Air is a local, smallish, (2 - 3 crews working each day), business. They are doing it right. They deserve to do well and prosper for many years to come.

Their service was amazing! They were very throrough and explained everything to me in detail. They came out to the house, checked out the situation and began to make recommendations for getting the old unit replaced. The work they did was of very high quality and was done very quickly. I was very pleased with the whole experience. I will definitely recommend them!

It went very well. We tell our story from start to finish in previous panel. Dos and Don'ts? Do get fully acquainted first. Get opinions of neighbors. Let Island Air know what you want more off and what you want less of, such as less as no more telemarketing calls, sometimes more than once in the same day as we experienced with our previous firm. Compare you current service company with Island Air's reports on Angie's List. WOW!

When I woke up this morning, the AC was not working, and the house was starting to get warm. The air handler inside the house was running, but the compressor outside was not. I checked on Angies List, and Island AC had many positive reviews. I am now adding mine. When I called, I was able to set a time of between 1pm and 3pm, which is what I needed for my work schedule. As I was returning home, at 12:55pm, they were waiting at the gate to get into the development. Brian, the technician, was prompt, courteous, and quick! WIthin 15 minutes, he had the capacitor replaced and the AC up and running. We now have a cool home again. I would highly recommend this company. In fact, I appreciated their prompt and courteous service so much that I have asked them to provide an estimate to replace our unit, as it is 12 years old (which is about the life expectancy of the unit).

I was told that the job would be 1 very long day and 3 technicians. They were to arrive at 9:00am and were prompt, arriving just before 9:00am and remained until 7:20pm. All 3 were very hard workers, that really worked as a team. No one was idle, and there were no "long breaks". They only had a quick lunch outside at their truck. They were professional, informative and knowledgable. They cleaned everything up when done, leaving the garage spotless! .I have never experienced a company so good!

This was a first rate, complicated fully permitted (PBC) installation. Both the compressor (heat pump) and air handler in the attic are so quiet, we must look at the thermostats to determine if the unit is running. All the service crew were hard working, knowledgable and communicative. There were 5 guys on the job. The zone/ductwork design was created by Island Air after consultation with us to determine our needs and desires. We are very, very pleased with the outcome and can recommend Steve Ruud and his people without reservation.

Technician arrived within 15 minutes of making service request. Diagnosed problem, explained problem and corrective action. Replaced contactor. System back to normal. Time on the job approximately 15 minutes. Very pleased with response and repair times.

I did a lot of research and they had the best service commitment., and also good pricing. They responded immediately. They have given me great service ever since. They are fantastic about their follow up and their service.

Service Technician assessed old AC unit (no cool air in middle of summer!); compressor was "fried" electrically ... provided option of replacing only that unit or entire system (air handler & compressor). He called owner who provided several model/combinations, price ranges, and financing scenarios. After my selection - Island AC pulled appropriate city permits. The installation team arrived within two (yes 2 minutes) of schedule at 8:30 AM. The team worked tirelessly / non-stop in 90+ degree heat to install entire system; AND no mess - team removed all parts, debris, swept driveway. City inspection was good! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Island AC for your service needs ... service contract, repair, or new installation! Professional and courteous office staff, service technicians, and install team!

We've recommended them to everyone in our neighborhood; that's how good they are. They came when they were supposed to and did the job beautifully. When we had a little problem, they were here instantly to repair it. Their price is competitive with the rest. We were pleased with everything they did.

The owners and staff of Island Air Conditioning have always been the ultimate in professionalism. They are always on time and when they leave, there is no evidence that they were here. When they installed our new A/C system, the crew was neat, clean and polite. It is a pleasure to work with this type of company. Being in a home related industry, i deal with many other a/c companies and there is only one that I will personally recommended and that is Elizabeth and her staff at Island Air.

We had Island Air look at our A/C in a home we just purchased. They were able to make an appointment the same week, came on time, and were very professional. They cleaned our A/C unit, tested everything, and advised us on maintenance we could do to keep things running well. I signed up for the year service agreement, so they will be out again in 6 months to clean and check up on our system. I was very impressed with their promptness and courtesy while in our home.

I had a good experience with them the previous time and so I used them again. I am very pleased with them. I have used them about three times.

We replaced our compressor and air handler. Island AC came out for an estimate and were priced in line with other bids. Island ac got the permits and coordinated the repairs with our condo association which was a big help. They were very prompt and took the time to make sure everything was repaired correctly. There was a part that was faulty inside the air handler from the factory. They contacted the factory and obtained a replacement then reinstalled the air handler. They kept good communication with myself and my husband throughout the repair.

Overall it went very well. I was very happy to be cool again. The work was completed quickly and efficiently and so far it is still OK.

Our A/C kept going from cool to heat on and off rapidly. We found Island A/C on Angie's List and called. They were out within an hour. The repairman was a little young and didn't seem unsure of himself and called what we assumed was his supervisor for help. His supervisor told him what to do, and that proved to be that he needed to replace the thermostat. He did and so far everything works the way it's supposed to.

They were wonderful. They were very quick to answer the phone and we had problems that they answered quickly as well.

Jimmy visited explained all the work he did. The work was done very thoroughly and he spent several hours on it including a lot of cleaning.

Caroline sent over Brian McDuffie and David Olker. Brian wired in the relay replacement board. Said that the relay board was a bit of an overkill for our system, however was able to wire it without instructions! Took about 15 minutes at a cost of about $70. While Brian did the wiring, David added about 2 gallons of freon. David advised that it is very rare that a new system requires freon, however added that when it was originally installed 4 years ago, the installer may have not followed factory instructions for properly charging the new unit. My unit took 2 gallons of freon for $100. Brian provided some instructions on how to return the defective relay board ... i.e., who to send it to so that the service provider that originally fetched it for me will get credit for the return. Both guys were very friendly and professional.

Excellent ! Got 3 bids theirs was lowest. Highly recommended in Ange's List. Had a 200 coupon. Worked hard and were on time. Also, good about showing me how to work thermostat. Brian, was very helpful in answering my questions.
