When I called them they sent a service man who checked the AC & found a leak.. It took him approximately 1 hour & charged me $85.00 for the service call, but said he could not do the repair but would schedule another person to come the next day. I asked him if the $85.00 would go towards the total repair. That was when I learned the service call was separate and would not be deducted from the total repair. We scheduled another person to do the repair for the following day (4/12) at 3pm. He arrived on time & it took him 3 hours to replace the AC coil. The total cost for service call & to replace the AC coil was 863.00. Service Call = $85.00 plus Repair AC coil = $778.00. Overall I was basically satisfied & hoping the Aluminum coils are actually better than copper coils.

Great service, Steve, the A/C technician was very friendly and did a great job. I also found a coupon on the company's website and I saved $85 from the diagnosis. Is always good to ask or check on google for coupons. Will definitely contact them again in the future and will recommend them to friends and family.

Even though I haven’t used them for services, I would feel comfortable telling others to use them.

Technician arrived On Time. Communication was excellent. Work performed was Top Notch. Left working place Very Clean. It was refreshing to see a Company/Technician deliver a Friendly, Quality Job.

He came and tried to tell us we had mold on our AC unit, when in reality is was grease. We are aware that the unit is 10 years old and not running as efficiently as it used to, but we called them for a routine service call to help maintain it. They tried to keep telling us we needed extra parts and extra work done. When I called the company to bring this to their attention, they seemed totally uninterested in my input.

This was the first service performed since the unit was purchased in 2011, and the tech explained all of my questions and made some small recommendations. The service price was quite reasonable and included a current coupon on Angies. I also own a condo and will use this company to service its A/C unit.

Island arrived on time and spent the whole day completing the job. The workers were very friendly and answered all of my questions. The only problem I had was once they had completed the job and left, I noticed that the fan was running continuously. I phoned them the next day and they arrived that afternoon and fixed the problem. Since then everything has been running smoothly.

Very good experience , people are courteous and friendly ,do the job on time ,respond on time and know what they are doing ! Price is very reasonable too , I have no hesitation in recommending them to any one needing good service .

Called Friday morning to get a quote. Brian arrived a little after noon on Friday to give me a quote. Even though I was sure the compressor on my old system was burned out and I was fully prepared to replace the entire 13 year old system, Brian spent about 20 minutes running a couple different tests to make sure that I wasn't going to replace a system that could be easily repaired. No charge for this work. He confirmed that the compressor was burned out. Brian walked me through all the options that were available. We quickly settled in on a Carrier 16 Seer system with a digital thermostat as the best choice for me. He prepared and presented a formal comprehensive written quote on the spot. No having to check with the boss or waiting to see what the competition might bid on the job. No price matching nonsense. They give you their best and final price right up front. While the price he quoted for a Carrier 16 Seer was not the absolute lowest price I had seen, his quote was the best value in my opinion when you consider everything. I accepted the quote and signed the contract Friday afternoon. He filled out all the forms for the permits, had me sign them and then he headed down to city hall to apply for the permit. Better him than me! At 9:00am on Saturday (less than 24 hours after my first call) Glen and Josh arrived to do the installation right on schedule. They are both long time employees of Island air and not undocumented day laborers picked up off a corner somewhere. The experience and professionalism of Glen and Josh was clearly evident. They worked hard, only taking a short break for lunch, and finished the job by about 4:00pm. They gladly answered all the many questions I had and took the time to answer the questions that I didn't even know to ask. They took extreme care to protect the interior and exterior of my property. They put down drop clothes in the interior to protect my flooring. Access to the exterior work space was blocked by some overgrown shrubs (my fault for not keeping things trimmed and access clear). They offered to transplant one of the shrubs to allow access. While I appreciated the offer, I just cut down the shrub that had grown where the access path used to be. The installation of the new much larger air handler required that the shelf that the old unit rested on be cut out. The electrical, drain line and duct work all had to be reworked. Job was done very satisfactorily. Access to the unit for filter change is way better than on the old unit where I had to fight the electrical cables to get change the filter. When the work was done they completely cleaned up after themselves. I think things may actually be cleaner after they left than before the got there. The installation work by Island Air was way better than what had been done by the builder that installed the system they were replacing. It's nice to see somebody still does first class work.

The tech that came to the house was punctual and professional. He spent nearly two hours examining and cleaning our system, and was nice enough to explain the procedure each step of the way. Our system is blowing as cold as ever, and even though we were recommended to prepare for a new system in the near future he assured us that we still had some life in our existing setup.

Went very well clean and prompt, took time to answer any questions my wife and I had. Will use them when I decide to proceed.

This was a great experience. We selected them because of their Angie's list rating and the service coupon. They came right away and were on time and professional. Replaced the unit quickly, got the permit and scheduled the final inspection. Sent a supervisor out prior to final inspection to check the install. All done very quickly and very professionally. This was our first experience with Angie's list, so we were very happy. Have recommended them several times since and have purchased a maintenance contract with them for another property. The people that work for Island are good, one and all, from field staff to supervision to billing/scheduling. Don't hesitate to use them.

They did everything they said they would do, when they said they would do it. We had a minor problem a few weeks ago - the A/C stopped working. Something had become clogged. I called around 6PM on a Friday night and a service person showed up about 3 hours later and fixed it - at no charge! I believe the service person said there would be no charge for service calls (if there were problems with the unit) for a year! They were all very professional and did a good job.

Job was not performed since they do not work in my area.

It went very well. Their technicians are very professional and prompt. Scheduling is easy and the staff is friendly.

Other than them arriving a little later than i thought they were due, they worked efficiently and completed the work and clean-up in a timely fashion. Were very courteous.

They were on time and very informative. When they completed the task, they gave me trouble shooting information- something repair men usually don't do. They were friendly, courteous and patient. They were very clean and cleaned up after themselves.

Excellent - we were extremely pleased with the immediate response to my initial call. Met with the owner Steve Rudd & had everything done to our total satisfaction within 3 days. We couldn't be more pleased.

Downstairs a/c was blowing but not cooling. Called Island and they said someone could come out the next day btwn 2-4pm. I left work early to be home for repairman. at 2:40 I called to find out ETA and was told that service member just arrived at prior job and would see me after. At about 4:30 I called for update and was told a different person had to be sent out (I was later told due to an injury which I understand, accidents happen.) At about 6pm the service guy, Larry, showed up. He was very professional and after deciphering the electric box, which is pretty old, quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown capacitor. My system downstairs system is also pretty old and I know it will need replacement before too long. Anyway it took 20-30 minutes to repair and all was well. When he gave me the bill for $258 I thought that was a bit steep. He told me that ws the flat rate for that piece installed, a 45/5 dual run capacitor cap which retails around $40. He said he didn't charge me for bypassing electric box and I had $85 coupon which waived the service/diagnostic fee. He confirmed that without the coupon this would have cost around $340. I called the office next morning and the price was confirmed so its clearly the company's cost for this. Even if I paid the diagnostic fee but certainly without $200 + dollars for 30 minutes labor (or $285 w/o coupon) seems ummm.....ridiculous. I called 3 other companies who told me that piece installed was between $120 (lowest) to $200 (highest.) Also as it was after six Larry did seem like he wanted to get going though he gave me some good maintenance advise while doing repair. So bottom line if I leave work for an appointment, its missed by 2 hours with spotty communication, the price is at the very top of what I found...well doesn't make for a great sense of confidence. Consequently I'll be getting a maintenance agreement and replacing my downstairs a/c next year (or when it conks out) with a different company. I don't like to leave negative reviews and Larry did a great job but just overall not a smooth new customer experience.

They were very satisfactory. They first sent out a couple of young men, when I asked them to send more experience men they did. They also did a follow visit. They were very professional.

Honest. Honest. Honest. Business' in South Florida should take notice. This company knows how to stay in business and be successful....it's called honesty!!!

Brian came out to the house about 2 hours after we called. This was after 5pm. He diagnosed the problem immediately, repaired the wiring and breaker in the air handler unit which was located in our attic in a very high ceiling. He checked our compressor and told us that there was no sense in filling up the freon because it would last for a while. He recommended that we eventually replace the unit as it was installed in 1997. He was able to provide us with a proposal for two new units and, as he was also a technician with years of experience, he was able to explain to us the technical differences of the units. This is a breath of fresh air as most companies require that a "salesperson" come out to try to sell you their products. Brian was professional, courteous, and did not pressure us to buy any extra service or equipment. Previously, another AL provider failed us miserably and this company stepped in to restore our faith.

Overall, very nice. After installation, they came back a week later to make adjustments and preform a quality check. Update, September 30, 2012 - Although this might be true of any contractor, be aware that Island Air has to be reminded to call the town for an inspection and get their work permit removed. Otherwise, my original report stands.
