ASAP HEAT & AIR CONDITIONING

To give some background: I recently purchased a new Condo?albeit built in 1974?and was getting little if any air flow into the upstairs. I contacted 3 HVAC contractors from Angies list. The first contractor showed up, briefly "looked" at my vents, then left with comment that "he needed to study this further would get back to me the next day". Never heard from him again. The second contractor did a little more examination of my issue/venting and did provide a three alternatives?all in providing a new AC unit?nothing with regard to the possibility of insufficient venting/air flow. The third contractor, again briefly "looked" at my vents, told me to leave the air handler fan running and provided me with a proposal for a new unit?again nothing in relation to the possibility of not having sufficient venting/restricted air flow. As an aside, when I say "looked" at my vents, I mean just that. They peered into the attic from standing on a ladder. Now as chance would have it, Chuck Coleman of ASAP was servicing a unit in another Condo in my complex. When we discussed my issue, he said he would be back in couple of days with his vent guy. When they returned they spent 30-45 minutes in the attic discussing all options with regard of improving my airflow into the upstairs. The next day he gave me a proposal, (very competitive) which included completely removing my old vents, reinstalling larger more efficient vents coupled with a new AC/Air Handler. (My existing was over 10 years old) Needless to say it is performing flawlessly and now I actually have "balanced air flow" throughout my unit. (Keep in mind that had I gone with any to the other three contractors, my air flow would have only minimally improved and they would have merely "sold" me a new unit). The day of service they completely covered the work area with drop cloths, the installation was superb and the clean up afterwards was impeccable. (Interesting when I requested a higher seer rating, he said he would do it, (additional cost) although I didn't need it and it really wouldn't improve my efficiencies that much. HE DIDN'T TRY TO UP SELL ME!! Without any reservation, I highly recommend ASAP Heat and Air and Chuck Coleman. You won't find a more thorough, honest HVAC contractor!!
