Chandler Air's representative came out and inspected the job. He informed us that the equipment that cam with the system was substandard and told us that he had experience with this type of unit and had been in business for years. Based on this we contracted with him to provide these upgraded materials and to do the work. After Chandler Air got done, there was a hose hanging down draining into the middle of the room and we could not even see what they completed correctly. We called to let them know and we were informed that the job was complete. Also, they were to do a check up to our home's main AC system. This was not done. We are still trying to recover some of the money that they charged us. We were significantly overcharged for the work that was done. Of course we disputed the charge, but this is a long process and is still in the works. We will now have to pay someone else to finish this.

Owner is rude- told me that he didn't want or need my business and I could and quot;complain all I wanted as it didn't matterand quot;.Pricing for repair is ridiculous compared to actual price from another company. Don't take my word for this- get a second opinion as I did. I felt so strongly about this that I joined Angie's list specifically to complain about this company. My Mother (now deceased) had a new home A/C unit installed by this company a few years ago. We had no idea that this was the way Chandler Air operated and called them since they did the install- I'm certain that she would be as disgusted as we were.
Interestingly enough, we wouldn't have known about how badly we were being charged if they would have done the repair on the day they told us it would be done...

UPDATE 10/1/2014-
I just want to update this post after reading the and quot;Companyand quot; response:
1) The family wasn't in town to sell the property- We have lived in Volusia County for over 55 years.
2) Apparently the warranty transfer wasn't a problem for Total Comfort who actually did the repair- and for 1/3 the price!
3) The Company response contains so many untruths that I cannot address them all- My Mother passed away in January 2014, not and quot;recentlyand quot; as stated by company. Shane Spaulding made the estimate of $ 400 for the repair and insisted that I pay IN ADVANCE. What reputable company does that?? The original service call was on a Monday- I paid $65 for and quot;expeditedand quot; shipping on the part- when it did not show up by Thursday I called Total Comfort (thank goodness). I can't stress enough, GET A SECOND OPINION!!
4) I guess that I should have gotten a second opinion from Chandler Air- he claims they are free of charge... Who do you believe??
5) Chandler Air states that they would not work with us in the future- I don't even know how to respond to that ridiculous statement. I would not call Chandler Air or recommend them to anyone- period.
Response from CHANDLER AIR INC
"Chandler Air, Inc. is an established company, with a history of excellence in both quality of workmanship and customer service. We were called out to diagnose a breakdown for a long-time customer who recently passed away. Chandler Air, Inc. has been servicing this residence for over 15 years with no prior issues. The family was in town to sell the property and on inspection realized the air conditioner was not working and called us since we installed the unit years earlier. We responded immediately, providing the customer with complete written details of the breakdown. Since the original owner was deceased, the warranty takes time to transfer at the supplier level, time which the customer didn't have the patience for because of the pending home sale. The freight charges that the customer referenced are charged by the supplier, so this is simply an expense that we pass on to the consumer. As the medium between the supplier and the consumer, we can't be responsible for breakdowns that occur, or how long it takes for parts to arrive. It is the nature of the world we live in that machines break down, but we strive to remain responsive to our clientele in delivering a fast remedy. In this case, the parts didn't come in as early as expected. While we empathize with the customer's frustration, parts are sometimes back-ordered and take longer than expected to arrive. Because the supplier could not deliver on the expedited part arrival, the freight charges were reduced by half, bringing them down to the standard freight charge. Since the part took an extra day to arrive, the customer decided to call someone else for a second opinion, which they received from a local competitor free of charge. We too offer second opinions free of charge. This public formal complaint is Chandler Air's first knowledge of a request for a refund. Had the customer asked, we would have granted a partial refund, minus our original diagnostic fee. This customer was under a great deal of stress due to the passing of a family member and the responsibilities involved in closing out the estate. Although we have compassion for what the customer was feeling, we would not work with this customer in the future. Our company policy revolves around an expectation of respect in all matters."

I was not familiar with this area, so I had my concerns about calling someone I didn't know, but it went very well. The technician was very helpful, courteous and informative. I would highly recommend Chandler Air Inc. to anyone in the Deland, Florida area.
