Matt did the estimate originally and impressed me with his technical knowledge (I am a former engineer). He had two other team members to help with the job. They were neat and professional, knew what they were doing and were all very courteous. This was a difficult job because of the structure (2-story stone colonial built in 1930), but they did a good job of minimizing the piping(they couldn't utilize areas inside walls to hide the pipes). They cleaned up the basement pretty well, all things considered (there were small bits of PVC that I found afterwards and vacuumed up easily). There was a noticeable vibration noise in one of the rooms in the basement after the installation (which I didn't notice at the time) and when I called, Matt came out and reduced it substantially by reconfiguring the piping outside of the house and it is barely noticeable now. He was very understanding and was committed to fixing the problem. The main thing is that the results were terrific! The measurement of radon gas was about 11-14 pc/L prior to the remediation and afterward, the levels measured at 0.3 pc/L--well below the standard of 4 pc/L. I was very satisfied!

I recently purchased a Safety Siren Pro electronic radon gas detector and was shocked to discover that the radon levels in my home were actually quite high--up to 23pC/L in the basement/crawlspace areas and up to 6pC/L on the first floor. After doing some research on local remediation providers, I selected Next Step Environmental. Matt Winslow walked me through the various options and offered excellent advice on how to best resolve the problem as economically as possible. Matt and his crew arrived on a Saturday to do the install and they did an AWESOME job--using high quality materials and very professional installation for this more challenging project. Radon levels in my home are already falling dramatically and I expect that they will continue to do so over the next several days as my detector collects new readings. I called Mr. Winslow for an estimate to have radon remediation done in our home. He returned my call the same day. Although it was a busy time for him, he made a point to stop out to give us an estimate within a few days since our radon levels were exceedingly high & he had concern about having us wait. He arrived on time for the estimate, was very professional & informative. The estimate was provided within a day & we decided to have him complete the work. He was able to schedule the job within a week. The base price was very reasonable & competative @ $845. We chose to upgrade our fan to a flat style which is low profile against our house, as well as add a condensate pump for our hot water heater/ dehumidifier allowing us to close up the drain into our concrete slab which was another inlet for radon into our home. Our total came to $1095 which I felt was very reasonable & the work was completed within a week from my first phone call to completion of the work. A kit was provided for us to again test our radon levels. Our levels went from 88.7 to 0.6 after remediation! We couldn't be happier. I would definitely recommend Next Step Environmental!
