When I called the AA-1 Repairs in Woodbridge, Va. for the appointment, I told the scheduling person what I thought was wrong with my dryer. I knew what parts were needed because I looked it up on the internet. I could have ordered the parts online, but I wasn't sure I could install them. So I made an appointment for the next day. My appointment was for between 4pm and 7pm. I was told over the phone, after I asked, that there was a $49.99 service charge just to come out, but if they fixed the problem, there would be no service charge. Then men came around 6:15. The parts I told them were bad, were exactly the ones that were bad. The man told me it would be $187 and change to repair. I asked him to itemize it because I knew the parts were under $50. He said there was a $49.99 service charge. I told him what the man on the phone told me and he said that was not true. I said if it wasn't true, then why did they tell me that. He called someone at the store. This man told him that he was to charge me the service charge. The repairman at my house, handed me the phone and told me to talk to him. I explained everything again, and he told me I was wrong that I wasn't told that. I told him that was fine but I would not be using his repairmen to repair the dryer because I could get the parts online and do it myself. He said the parts you get online are from China and they are no good. He said his store does not buy online parts, they only but good parts. He told me to pay his repairman the service charge of $49.99. I told him I would not because I diagnosed my own problem and I was lied to about the service charge. He said he would bill me and if I didn't pay, he would take me to court. At this point, the repairman took the phone back, spoke to the man at the store in a foreign language, then told me they would repair the dryer with no service charge. I had been warned in advance, that this company does things like this.
Description of Work: The dryer stopped working because a build up of lint in the pipes shut it down as a safety precaution. The men replaced the thermostat fix part. It took a maximum of 10 minutes.

We were referred to this company by Sears so thought they would be reputable. They are unresponsive and untruthful. My husband i have called them at least 15 times over a month period. Each time the story was different - they couldn't get the parts, they had one, etc etc etc. Each time they told us they would get it on a certain date and call - they never did. After our repeated calls and efforts and a month without a washer, they have finally decided they can't get the parts (but wait - they said they already had one!) and are not going to come. What a frustrating waste of time....especially since they give 4 hour time windows. I would advise anyone to avoid this company.
Description of Work: The technicians came once and could not diagnose the problem. After i did so from an online search of the digital codes on the washer, they came again...this time without the parts.

I was assigned this company-again-through my warranty service. I have had them assigned no less than 3 times over the past 18 months. No easy task since I have Sub Zero appliances. They send out ill qualified technicians, say they will order parts and then decide that it is too expensive of a repair and never call back. They do not show at scheduled times and then blame customers that they are too demanding. I actually stopped the technician from putting new refrigerant into my unit, He did not know that sub zeros take a special refrigerant! This most recent event involves the icemaker. They scheduled my, then called to get my model and serial #. Once they discovered they did not have the parts, the dispatch person had the good sense to call and reschedule me. The tech showed up without the new icemaker. Then the dispatch person tried to cover his back by saying that the company had to make 2 visits because of the insurance company. These guys are bad news!!!
Description of Work: Replace condenser in freezer, charge refrigerant in refrigerator, diagnose evaporator problem, icemaker
