+ -1 moreThey did not fix the obvious leak, but instead fixed something completely independent. The day after they came, I called to say they did not fix the right thing, water was still dripping, and they actually had me find the cause of the leak myself. Once I found the cause, I called them and was told they couldn't do anything about it. I asked what sort of accommodation they would offer given the $500 bill and was told they did the work, no discount and no credit towards future work. Imagine paying someone $500 to come to your house to fix something, they fix the wrong thing, and then charge you $500 and never come back. Not even an apology and the customer service was atrocious.

+ -1 moreAs opposed to some plumbers that will respond in a few days they were very prompt. The work was done well and the only issue was the price. The two parts were marked up 3 to 7x the retail price in a hardware store but the real issue was the labor charge which was $239 for about an hour.
Description of Work: Installed a new sillcock and replaced a 90 degree joint that ruptured.

+ -1 moreI have used Pat Gilbertie for several years (long before signing up for Angie's list), switching from more expensive and less reliable plumbers. In total, I have probably used them over half a dozen times, each time to my great satisfaction. They showed up on time. The two people worked steadily for several hours, with me present most of the time. They completed the work on time, with excellent results, left the workplace clean and tidy, and were reasonable in price relative to other bids I had requested. What was exceptional was how unremarkable this was.
Description of Work: repaired old plumbing under the sink which stretches a long way to drainage, It had dropped, and the absence of a relief valve caused the sink to back up constantly. This was fixed by lifting up the pipe and replacing the drainage system with one that had a relief valve

Description of Work: On October 25, we had a leak under our kitchen sink and called Pat Gilbertie Plumbing. They came pretty quickly... I'll give them that. They determined we needed to replace the faucet and gave us an estimate, which seemed pretty high, but I trusted them and said to go ahead. They explained that the new faucet was not same make/model of our or old faucet, but was of equal quality and value. They even went so far as to tell me that I could "save a few bucks" by going out to buy the model they were installing, as they do mark up their goods. I decided to let them go ahead as they are certainly entitled to that mark up. Labor aside, they charged $259.00 for the faucet itself, an American Standard Reliant+. (The total cost of the job, labor and all parts was $521.40.) I decided to see how much I would save had I purchased the faucet myself. Turns out, there are three models of this faucet, the stainless and a black or chrome plastic. The stainless is around $185.00, while the others sell for around $125.00. Turns out, they installed the chrome-plated plastic one. $159 mark up? That's crazy. Also, our old one was stainless. So much for equal quality. I called to complain and they gave me some c*** and bull about the price I found being for the consumer version and the one they installed was available to plumbers only and was of a much higher quality. Oh, please. They went on to say that they would not do anything to remedy this situation. There was a time when Pat Gilbertie was a well-known, reputable plumber. But a couple of years ago, he sold the business. Don't be fooled by the name. Sadly, Pat Gilbertie no longer has anything to do with Pat Gilbertie Plumbing, and it shows.

+ -1 moreGood but for the price, which was excessive. If you use these people, get a good estimate in advance. Otherwise, you may be in for a shock.
Description of Work: On most counts, I had an excellent experience. But when two men showed up for a small job, I began to get concerned. My concerns were full y borne out when they presented the bill. I've since switched to a different plumber who is punctual, polite, professional, and about half the price.

+ -1 moreThe good news: Responsive, professional, and efficient. The bad news: More expensive than I was told over the phone. For two plumbers, the hourly rate was to be $175. They were on the job for one hour, plus or minus five minutes. The bill was for 1 1/2 hours plus parts and supplies. I didn't discuss the charge for the extra half hour, but should have. I'd use them again, but next time would make sure to confirm the details of billing in advance so that there are no surprises.

+ -1 moreGilbertie was extremely responsive, accurate, precise and polite in the scheduling process. The service tech was prompt, skilled and polite -- really a nice guy. He even cheerfully provided a refernce for well system work. The price, while not bargain, was reasonable for the area and much better than others I've used. I am thankful that I don't have to keep looking for a great plumber.

+ -1 moreI received an immediate call back after leaving a message. Due to illness of one plumber, they were not able to come over for about three days. (This was not an emergency.) I was told when they thought they would be able to come. I received a call every day updating me on the estimated time they would be able to come, and they arrived at precisely when they said they would. The job couldn't be finished on the first visit and the owner came by on the weekend (no charge) to confirm what would be needed to finish. When they came to finish the job, they arrived exactly when they said they would. This company is extremely interested in giving good service and satisfying customers. I have never received such great attention and follow-up. Very professional and highly recommended.
