I have known David Galer for 25 years. I asked him to come and install a jacuzzi and redo the drain plumbing. When we cleaned up several days later, we discovered the right rear corner of the tub was broken and cracked along an edge. We called him up, he came over and said that it hadn't come out of the box like that because they wouldn't have put it in. They must have done the damage when installing it. He told us that he had a friend who was trained by Kohler to repair this type of damage, and it would be the strongest part of the tub. We said fine, give us his name and the name of some happy consumers, and we would contact Kohler. They emailed us the next day to say that they have never taught anyone to do this, and do not recommend it. I will note here that their job is to sell new tubs, not fix old ones. We called Galer that day, and have never had a call returned to us after calling over a dozen times over several months. We sent him a certified letter which he refused to sign for. We purchased a new jacuzzi, and have filed a small claims court case against him and his company. I want to say that the plumbing was well-done, and the tub drained well with no leaks. The tub was used several times with no problems. We felt that since the major cost of construction is the labor, we were at risk for breakage of the top flange of the tub, which would have been under the tile wall, and that that crack could have propagated to a visible area of the back of the tub. This would have necessitated removing and replacing the jacuzzi and the surrounding walls, and we were not willing to accept this risk. The problem stemmed from the total lack of professionalism in dealing with the damage his company caused. When I took the broken tub out, I noted that the structolite (a concrete-like material that the bottom of the tub is set on, that supports the tub) support was only under the outside half of the tub, which means that the bottom of the tub would probably have cracked in several years from being stepped on and flexed, which fiberglass shouldn't do. As a licensed plumber (as well as HVAC and home improvement), he most certainly has liability insurance. We have absolutely no idea why he refused to contact them in order to get us a new tub. I would go out of my way to dissuade anyone from using his company for any reason; the work that they do may be good, but the problems you may have will be legion.
Description of Work: We asked him to redo the drain line on the tub, and set and connect a new jacuzzi.
