Awful! This company promises you the world with very little results. My mom had a small fire. The smoke damaged the entire house. All her belongings had to be packed up, cleaned and stored. So my mom signed a repair contract in June 2020 with the completion date of Christmas 2020. No work had even started by November! He took over $100,000 deposit and refuses to return it. He improperly charges O&P and all his attorney says, "Your client signed a contract and you have to pay for anything he bills that the insurance doesn't.". We were billed for software with no explanation. They bill O&P on even storage! DCP is directing us how to proceed as they have all the paperwork and a local news station is interested in the story. My mom turns 87 next month. They have taken every kind of advantage! And to boot, her belongings were water damaged. We didn't get so many things back! Collectibles, stein's. Many collectibles were broken due to their poor packing. Someone put her paperweight collection on top of her hummels??? Who does that? We were promised her belongings would all be professionally cleaned! What a laugh! My mom and I have been washing every single thing for 3 weeks. Alot of her furniture was so water damaged we had the mover discard it. The remaining furniture is full of mildew. And now this company is denying everything!!!! We have pictures. They are trying to say the mover damaged it? I have used dozens of contractors in my day and I can honestly say I have never met a more incompetent company. And the owner, Dan Strong, could care less how he treats people. He has been holding onto her money for 20 months!!! Who does this?

I called DRS and Marty answered. He arrived with a crew within 2 hours. They sucked up all the water and had an electrician install a temporary electric service (EVERYTHING was wet!) within 6 hours (working late!). They connected temporary electric heat, dehumidifiers, and blowers to dry everything. Over the next several days, they removed all damaged drywall, flooring, etc. The workers were careful, competent, and considerate of our trauma. The total $$$$ was expensive, but that's typical of emergency work. Fortunately, mostly covered by insurance.

Response from Disaster Restoration Services
"The management at DRS regrets that we were not able to meet your expectations. DRS is consistent in our billing practices with all customers to provide fair prices. We use industry standard software which is required by insurance carriers to create estimates. This software updates its price lists on a monthly basis and adjusts according to economical standards in the industry. In regards to your concern over the cost of permits, the line item states “fees and permits” and encompassed asbestos testing, analysis, and abatement in addition to the cost of any building permits required. These fees are stated in the estimate. We apologize if this line item appears unclear, and moving forward we will work to alleviate this misinterpretation. We are professionals in the industry, certified in water, fire, and mold remediation. We only remove damaged portions of your home that are a necessity. Although some structures may appear to be in working condition, there are often times hidden dangers such as mold or asbestos which would require that certain structures such as walls and flooring be removed to save the customer from additional problems in the future. Working in the insurance repair industry each job is different and so is each insurance policy. DRS reviews with the homeowner the scope of the job before it is completed and also brings to the attention of the customer if any repairs are not covered by the homeowners insurance policy. DRS then requires a signed authorization before performing any work at a customers home. DRS prides itself on customer service and keeps the homeowner informed at each stage of the mitigation and repair process. Our management team is always open to questions, comments, or concerns. We are truly surprised by your allegations and wish we were given the opportunity to rectify this situation. We appreciate your feedback and we are always striving to improve our services. Please contact us if we can be of further assistance."
