I've lived in the unit 1.5 years.I moved here from Colorado and rented the unit unseen. The father and son team running the facility "seemed" very nice and helpful. When I moved in I found the parking lot (that my unit faces) that was suppose to be 70 yards away was in fact 15 FEET away. As a result, I have constant car headlights pointing straight into my apartment as people pull in to park, the parking lot noise that has included drunken college kids, and the people that walk right by my patio door while looking in. Incidentally there is no lock on my patio at ground level. I found a board that was used to wedge the patio window closed. I have had to cut other boards to length so I can wedge the patio window open a bit at night, yet small enough no one could WALK IN!! Yes, simply walk in! At signing the lease, one is informed that you will receive a letter from the mgr 2 MONTHS before lease is up to prepare for renewal, etc. At the end of my 1st year, I did NOT get this letter until Thanksgiving, when I should have had it Nov 1st. I had been making it clear to mgt that I objected to the noise and was looking for a quieter unit in the complex away from the parking lot. At that time I renewed my lease for 6 months. Then about 3 months BEFORE my lease was up, I reminded mgt that I wanted a unit that did not face the parking lot. They said they understood, but would not know what is available just yet. Then, in May, the reminder letter came from mgt and again it is late. Got it on the 12th of May that notified me of a raise in rent. Now at this time, the unit behind me became available. I immediately callled mgt, who promptly told me the unit was already rented (although they should have known that I would have been interested - we just talked that several weeks before). Last week, my neighbor told me the unit was not rented but they are simply showing it. So I called mgt again, and now they explained it WAS in fact AVAILABLE. Later that evening I left them a voice message saying I WAS interested in that unit, and got no reply. 3 days later (today) I left another message following up, and no reply. So I go to the office, and sitting there is one of the mgr(s). who now claims it is not their policy to let people move to other units (tho I know they have let another neighbors do exactly that). Bottom line. Though the management appears friendly and helpful, don't count on that at all. This mgt clearly lied to me when they said the apt was rented. They also should have told me MONTHS ago that they had NO intent and providing the customer service of helping me move to a quieter unit, as far as I'm concerned another lie. As a result they have wasted MY time that could have been used preparing to move to a different complex all together. Even today, the mgr will not have an answer until the 1st day of the June, the month my lease ends, leaving me no alternative but to look for other complexes. Yet NOTE: if YOU do not notifiy them on time, they automatically renew your lease. Ya know, I think they know this unit is hard to rent because would wants to face the parking lot unless they have to. They're glad to take your money and do as little as possible.
