I have had a fireplace insert for over 8 years and Chris Jenks owner of Chimneys West has cleaned it every year. I burn over 2 cords of wood a year and my chimney needs cleaning. Chris repairs chimneys, installs pellet and wood stoves/inserts. This man shows up on time, never makes a mark on my white carpet and never have I ever seen any dust leave my fireplace as he cleans it! He gets back to you when you call and he is dependable. He is also very honest, several years ago the top part of my chimney was cracking. Chris had this product that he painted on that stopped the cracking and sheds water. I keep asking if I need to do more and he says he will tell me if we need to do more. I also have a few cracked bricks in my insert but he says they are fine for now. Many sweeps will sell you more but Chris knows his business and he does not try to make money on consumers who do not know better. Want a great job call Chris at Chimneys West.
Description of Work: Cleaned my chimney.

Chris was recommended to me by another service provider. I called the number the service provider gave to me and left Chris a message indicating that I wanted inspection of a wood burning fireplace in a home we are selling. Chris called me later that afternoon. I told him I need him to inspect the fireplace to determine whether it was safe to operate and provide appropriate certification, assuming that he concluded that it was in fact safe. We made an appointment for me to meet him at the home a few days later. I had to call him a couple days before our appointment because I needed to reschedule. Again I left him a message telling him I needed to reschedule. He left me a message, proposing two other dates and leaving me his cell phone number so we would not have to rely on voice messages. I called him back on his cellphone, he answered promptly, and we agreed on an alternative date that worked for both of his. He showed up on time - in fact slightly earlier than agreed, which was helpful to me since I needed to get to work as soon as he had completed the inspection. He performed the inspection, gave me verbal feedback as to the condition of the fireplace, and then provided me with the certification that I needed. I would use his services again without question if I needed inspection or if I needed a wood burning fireplace cleaned.
Description of Work: We need to certify that the wood burning fireplace is safe to operate as part of the due diligence inspections on a home that we are selling. We hire Chris to perform the inspection and certify as to its safe operating condition.

Well two months later he is full of excuses and recently would not return my calls??? I paid him 100 for his first trip and now I am out a $100 and still have a broken pellet stove.
Description of Work: Chris came to repair a wood pellet stove. He arrived a little late, then immediately started on the problem (one of the motors was not turning). He diagnosed the problem as a burned motor and recommended a new one. He agreed to order the new part with the promise to install it in 2-3 weeks.

Here's the deal: I just recently moved into a home I'd owned as a rental for the past 20 years. I had a home inspection and it was recommended that I consider a chimney cap. It was apparently just a mistake on the inspection. Chris came out to install the new cap and called to say that it looked like there was already a cap on there. Yes, well. You know, I could have looked a little closer. He was very nice about the whole thing and by far the most reasonable and most knowledgeable and offered the best warranty. I'd use his services in a heartbeat. You know, if I really needed them, that is. Ahem.
Description of Work: I have a 1960s ranch style that I (mistakenly) thought needed a chimney cap. Ahem.
