Advanced Radon understood the need and accommodated us well within the closing time frame. The installer was quick and efficient and there was no mess left behind. Highly recommend this Company.
Description of Work: Our home was under contract and the buyer's objection indicated they wanted Radon Mitigation. Closing time frame was very short.

Tim promptly returned my call for an estimate and was up-front that he typically doesn't service my area (near Mt. Evans) due to the distance from his location. Tim was happy to chat for several minutes and give me an objective idea on what I should expect from a pricing perspective as I seek quotes from other providers in my area and he also gave me an idea of what's involved when installing a radon mitigation system. Great customer service!
Description of Work: Responded to a request for an estimate.

Very well. Tim Nahm was very responsive to my request for an evaluation. He determined that because of the high level of radon gas present a fan-driven exhaust from beneath the floor slab vented above the roof would be needed. My previous radon test showed that 34 pCi/l was present in the basement when the recommended federal/state limit is 4 pCi/l. Because of the age of my home, he was concerned about the degree of soil compactness beneath the basement floor slab that could hinder the exhausting of the gas from the location that was available to install the equipment. He advised me that he had small and large capacity fans available with a price differential of about $80. He also advised me that the annual cost of electricity to run the fans was in the neighborhood of $75. Because of the expected sub-slab soil condition, he cautioned that it was possible that it may not be possible to reach the 4 pCi/l recommended radon limit and further work may be necessary. The ARM technician arrived as scheduled and we isolated the best location based on access to the north wall of the basement and the nearby availability of un-switched electrical power. After cutting a hole in the basement floor he found the soil beneath it was very compact as was feared. As a result he elected to use the larger capacity fan in order to draw out the radon in the sub-slab space beneath the house. He did a very nice job of installing the small sump area and the PCV exhaust pipe on the basement wall and through the foundation. He did a nice job of installing the external fan and exhaust piping as well as the electrical switch box connected to the internal power source. He installed a manometer on the exhaust stack in the basement and explained its operation. He gave me another radon gas sampler to be exposed after 48 hours of the mitigation system operation for a period of 48 hours. I placed this sampler in the identical location where the pre-installation testing was done and sealed and forwarded it to ARM two days later. Two days after sending in the sample I received the test results along with ARM's invoice. The post-installation radon concentration reading was 0.7 pCi/l and well below the maximum recommended limit of 4 pCi/l. This was a very good result and apparently there was enough air space in the soil beneath the house to allow the system to efficiently draw the radon out and lower the concentration by 98%!. I was very pleased working with ARM and am very satisfied with the mitigation system they installed. I highly recommend their services.
Description of Work: Evaluated and installed a radon mitigation system in my basement in response to a high level of radon gas present there.

Tim Nahm came to the house personally to inspect everything. He was very thorough and explained options clearly. He was knowledgeable, friendly and personable. His bid came in the lowest of the three companies we interviewed. Willy did the work itself. He installed a radon mitigation system using our existing sump pit. He was very professional and did a great job. The pipes were all installed in solid fashion. The outdoor pipe was unobtrusive. The fan was quiet. I would highly recommend Advanced Radon Mitigation to anyone needing the service.

We just moved into a newly built Ryland home. Ryland installs a "passive" radon mitigation system, which is basically just the pipes underneath the house, running up through the roof. Ryland "pre-wires" the attic so that the homeowner can install a radon fan. Advanced Radon Mitigation first came out to look at the job and gave us an estimate ($425 for fan, manometer and installation). We contact four companies in all; one we called twice and they said they'd come out but never did (we don't call anyone a third time if they're not responsive). The other companies wanted to dig a pit, install brand new piping, drill through walls, and hang the pump outside. At about 3.5 times the cost of installing a fan into a pre-existing, plumbed system. We had to do that at a previous house that wasn't plumbed, but there was no need to do that at this house. We're very happy with the work Tim did. Very professional, very friendly. We can't hear the pump running (it's in the attic) but we can certainly tell it's running by the manometer (and when Tim installed the manometer and drilled into the pipe, you could hear the air being sucked through the hole). We had to wait a couple of weeks for installation but that was fine with us.

Advanced Radon Mitigation Inc had installed a system when we moved into our house. There was no follow up initiated by ARM. Recently I called to have them come out to check the system as the gauge was not functioning. It was very difficult to get a call back and arrange someone to come to the house. Finally Tim came out and put more "oil" into the gauge and said it was fine. Tim indicated to me that the work done at my house was not guaranteed as a complete job was not done. This work was contracted by the person who sold the house to us.I asked to have a radon recheck done and he left me with a canister to mail in. I followed the procedure and waited for the results. I did not receive them and had to call ARM Inc several times to get the results mailed to me. The levels were over the recommended levels and I asked Tim to come out for an estimate for the work necessary to bring the levels down. I called several times to try to arrange this visit and never received a call back. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of response or assistance I received. I found it very unprofessional and irresponsible. I finally gave up trying to have Advanced Radon Mitigation resolve my problem for which I was willing to pay. I called another radon mitigation company and could not believe the contrast of service, professionalism and concern I received. They returned my call immediately, came to my house promptly and were extremely professional and informative. I have arranged to have them do the necessary work that should have been done by Advanced Radon Mitigation Inc. during the initial job. I would never recommend Advanced Radon Mitigation services. What company would do half of the mitigation job and not follow code? What company would not follow-up after their work? I find this type of service totally unacceptable. Thank you for the opportunity to present my experience, I hope this will be helpful to other consumers.

This company was very responsive to our request for a proposal. When the work was done, the serviceman was on time and pleasant. They worked to place the system in the least obtrusive position. The work area was left quite tidy. We would definitely recommend this company.

This was the contractor insisted upon by the seller of the house. The installation was done as scheduled and all the work is neat. The exhaust is not above roof level but at the garage roof line on the side of the house with no windows. Consequent testing showed that radon has been mitigated to .5 pCi/1 (government guidance level is 4pCi/1).
Description of Work: Installed a pipe through the basement slab, ran it through the rim joist into the garage and along garage ceiling to exhaust outside through the garage wall. Installed a fan and meter in the garage.

Unbelievably bad experience.
Description of Work: We had an unbelievably bad experience with Advanced Radon Mitigation. Tim Nahm came to do the initial "smoke" test, where two holes are bored in the basement floor and smoke put in one hole should come out the other, if your below-foundation drainage is good. That seemed fine. But when it came to doing the actual work, they rescheduled three times, and it wasn't Tim doing the work. He sent someone else. This guy went to install an outdoor electrical outlet by tapping into one in the bedroom. (I didn't realize that this was illegal at the time!) He drilled through the wall and into the main power supply to the house. It threw him across the room, melted his drill bit, and blasted about 6" of brick off the outside of my House's could easily have killed himself. The company paid for the electrical repair but refused to pay for the brick repair. In fact, they sunk back onto the property and stuck the brick fragments into a bunch of gray caulk that they smooshed on the hole!
