Radon can exist in your home and you would never know it was there without a special test. Pikes Peak Radon did a fantastic job on our mitigation project. They came out and performed an estimate and the next day they were able to complete the job in just a few hours. We went from an average test score of 14.51 to 0.43. Great company and great service!

OUTSTANDING!!! Doug and his team were professional, thorough, and very knowledgeable. Doug went out of his way to explain Radon gas and the Radon mitigation system. His price was cheaper yet the system he installed was more robust than the other proposed installation bid that I received. Also, I contacted Doug 4 weeks after the install and asked him to fine tune my system. Doug came out the very next day and not only did he fine tune the system he also helped me with some dryer duct work without me even asking. Doug is a professional and he's a caring person with a big heart! I would give Doug and his company the highest rating and would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Doug!

Doug came out and looked over our floor plan. He was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done and the least epensive and most expediate way to accomplish the task. He also emphasized the importance of doing the system the correct way, to avoid problems in the future. On the day of the installation, they explained all the steps as they were performed and completed the work in a minimal amount of time. They left a test kit so that we could check the radon level after their work. I mailed the test kit in and in 2 days had the results. Their work reduced our radon levels to practically zero. Very happy, and would highly recommend them.

Some people want the lowest cost option when it comes to home improvement. I'm one of these people when it comes to certain basic, functional things. I look for the lowest cost dish towels, toilet brushes, picture hangers, etc. When it comes to major things, however, I'm a little more picky. I spent several months researching radon mitigation best practices, EPA guidelines, materials to use (and what not to use), and finally, installation companies. After all this research I feel like I know more about radon mitigation than 99% of homeowners in this country. I chose Pikes Peak Radon because, after all my research, I knew what questions to ask based on the type of system install my house required (sub-slab depressurization). Do the installers include a condensation bypass device? Do they use schedule 40 PVC throughout the system? How is the wiring done? Will the company come out and actually look at the property before giving a firm price? How will the company seal the pipe where it penetrates the sub-slab? How is the pipe mounted to the building? Will the company paint the pipe to match the house? One company assured me that schedule 40 pvc wasn't necessary because the cheaper piping they used was "just as good". Another company assured me that a condensation bypass device wasn't necessary because the fans were made to deal with water. As my research continued I kept on running into companies that made excuses and tried to assure me that the corners they cut wouldn't impact the quality of the system. The more companies I ran into that did this, the more I questioned why these companies cut corners in the first place. Cost, I'm sure, but I decided that a radon mitigation system wasn't an area where I wanted to compromise. Then I contacted Doug Bowen at Pikes Peak Radon. Doug is a guy who knows his business. He answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. He's the first radon mitigation guy I talked to who, simply put, doesn't cut corners. Some companies have multiple options when it comes to the systems they install. You can elect to pay more for the company to paint the system. You can elect to upgrade the fan. You can elect to include a condensation bypass device. Doug doesn't have any options. He installs one system and everything is included. He goes strictly by EPA radon mitigation best practices. He properly wires his systems. He always includes a condensation bypass. He always paints the external pipe unless the homeowner doesn't want him to. He always uses an over-sized downspout to exhaust the radon for aesthetic purposes. He always uses schedule 40 pvc, inside and out. All the stuff the other companies don't do and try to explain away as "good enough", Doug includes on every system he does. I spent 5 hours going back and forth from my basement to the backyard, watching Doug and his son install my system. Doug did all the basement work, his son painted the pipe and installed the fan and pipe in the backyard. Both were professional and enthusiastic about the project, answering my questions as they worked. Their attention to detail was exemplary. Pikes Peak Radon was the most expensive estimate I received. I decided to hire them because they answered all my questions to my satisfaction and didn't cut corners. They were the only company I contacted that met these requirements. Had I been able to find another company that installed the same system without the corner-cutting for $50 cheaper, I would have gone with them. I couldn't. I could have paid $850 for my system. I found several companies willing to install it for that price. I paid $1,300 because I wanted it done right. If you're just interested in a cheap system that may or may not work and probably won't last, feel free to hire whoever. If you want the best system the industry knows how to produce, hire Doug Bowen at Pikes Peak Radon. Before installation my basement radon levels tested at 9.2 pCi/L. The EPA recommends a mitigation system install if the level exceeds 4 pCi/L. After the system was installed I waied three days and then tested again. The levels are now 0.89 pCi/L. I'd say Doug did a good job.

Our pediatrician urged us to test for radon on our recently purchased home, due to the dangers that radon can pose. Our radon levels in the basement were averaging 12 on 2 different readings. (We use the accredited lab at UCCS for testing.) Pikes Peak Radon was recommended to us by the head of that lab. Doug worked with me over telephone and email, looking at pictures of our house and land and details of it's construction to determine that we did have a perimeter (French) drain and helped me locate the "daylight" where that drain empties onto our property. We also located a suitable place for the radon vent stack. He explained how tapping into a foundation drain is by far the most effective radon mitigation method. Doug gave me a quote over email and he and his team came out and got started. They had to dig much farther than expected to locate the foundation drain, but they worked hard throughout the morning, digging a secondary hole to stand in while continuing the first hole! Well, I think it turned out to be 11 feet straight down, but they located our perimeter drain and got the vent and fan expertly installed. While they were digging, Doug installed the fan monitor and controller in the basement. Then Doug installed a one way valve on the daylight for the drain and built a little house made of paver blocks around the outlet for the daylight to keep it from being disrupted by mowing. (The valve allows water to drain, as normal, from the foundation while preventing the exhaust fan from pulling fresh air through the daylight, and thus maintains the vacuum pressure that pulls radon from the foundation and exhausts it above the roof.). They expertly filled in the holes and cleaned everything up and Doug explained everything to me, including how to monitor the system and know it is working. A week later a 3rd test at the UCCS radon lab revealed our radon levels were down to 0.4 from 12! Doug and his team were great throughout and this was a small price to pay for the safety of our family.

Doug and his son got the job done. Reduced our Radon levels to almost none. He was knowledgeable, listened to my concerns and took care to watch out for vegetation he had to work around. Took time to explain every thing he would do and was patient but eager to answer any questions. Never would have known he was here besides leaving behind a well installed Radon Mitigation System.

Doug Bowen, owner, came and gave us an estimate on installing the radon mitigation system. While he was here, he educated us on these systems and why so many have been installed incorrectly and not according to the State requirements, thereby causing additional problems and health concerns. Doug is a stickler for detail and we were convinced that he was our guy. Doug, Mike, and Chris came on July 26th and spent several hours installing state-of-the-art equipment and placing it in an inconspicuous part of the house. Doug also performed work above and beyond what other companies do. He wet-vacuumed the unfinished part of our basement, then sealed the entire perimeter of the floor so as not to have "energy robbers", saving us considerable amounts of money in energy costs. In addition, they painted all the exterior equipment to match the house and it really looks great. We highly recommend Doug and Pikes Peak Radon as the best in the area. Doug is professional in the highest sense of the word and is not satisfied until the results are perfect, paying close attention to each and every detail. He leaves the homeowner with a canister test so you can do your own independent test once the system has been operating for a few days. We just got the results of the test back and they were astounding. We had a radon reading of over 6 before and the test now shows a reading of only 0.57!! Thank you Doug for an excellent job!! If you don't get Pikes Peak Radon to do your system, then you aren't getting the best!

I contacted Doug Bowen after reviewing his ratings on Angie's List. He came to my home the next day, recommended a system that would tie into my existing perimeter foundation drain, extend upward running parallel to a downspout and vent out above the roof line. He would paint the vent to match. He also would install caulking between the concrete floor slab and the foundation wall to prevent heated air from being drawn outside by the mitigation system. I discussed an alternate way of venting that I believed would work. He explained why my idea would not meet standards. He told me that anything less than standard was non-negotiable. If I wanted it my way, I would have to contact another installer. He provided a written quote and a guarantee that if the independent post-test results were not below the EPA threshold, that he would perform any further work at no cost. The price was competitive, and we agreed to move forward. Doug and two workers arrived on time and performed the installation in about three hours. The system was tested and found to be working properly. All work was done expertly using high quality materials, and the site was left neat and clean. The system is virtually silent, despite the volume of air that the fan is moving. A week following installation, I retested for interior radon levels. The test canister was submitted to the radon lab at UCCS, and I received the results via email the next day. The results tell the story: Pre-mitigation test results were 16.8 pCi/L, well above the EPA standard of 4 pCi/L. Post test measurement was 0.98 pCi/L. Mr. Bowen has an excellent website (pikespeakradon.com). It contains representative pictures of his jobs and a list of radon mitigation do's and dont's. As I've around the neighborhood, I've noticed many installations that do not meet established standards for materials or vent location. Bowen takes pride in educating customers about proper mitigation methods. I recommend Pikes Peak Radon without reservation.

I recently bought a new house in Divide, during the loan process I had my Realtor conduct a radon test in this house and it was found to be above the EPA threshold so I started investigating. I came across very positive reviews regarding Pikes Peak Radon so I contacted them two weeks before my loan closed. After talking with Doug (the business owner) at length I made arrangements to have Pikes Peak Radon install a Radon Mitigation System in my new house just as soon as my loan closed. Doug showed up at my house with his crew on time and got straight to work. During the whole process Doug constantly informed me of what was found at my house, what his crew was doing and as specific information as I wanted to hear. He discussed things at whatever level I needed and by the time the work was finished I fully understood how my new system worked, why certain things were done the way they were and before he left he gave me a new test kit to check his work. He wanted me to perform the test to insure the integrity of the test. They installed the system with high regard for the ascetics of how the system blended with my house. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and the system was installed in the time frame that I was told that it would take. I feel the price I paid was very reasonable, the work of high quality and if you are looking to install a Radon Mitigatin System in your house I would recommend that you give Pikes Peak Radon a call

Doug Bowen of Pikes Peak Radon is a consummate professional. He responded the same day I called him for an on-site estimate and thoroughly explained what he would do and why. He personally installed the system several days later and provided a thoroughly quality system. He took great care in ensuring the system not only worked well but looked good inside the house as well as outside including painting it to match my trim (I provided the paint). He took extra steps to seal my house to ensure I did not lose conditioned air to the outside. An independent radon test confirmed that his system worked as advertised and significantly reduced my radon levels as promised. I highly recommend Doug to anyone who wants a quality mitigation system installed to the highest standards.

Doug was great to work with. He first came to my house to inspect our existing radon system that I suspected was not functioning correctly, if at all. He said it wasn't working at all which is what I thought but didn't know much about radon systems at the time. He was great and explained it all to me. He also suggested that we first do a radon test to see the current levels. Upon getting this back, our level was at 9.3. Because our system was so old and a few things had been done incorrectly upon it's original installation, he suggested we replace the entire system which we did. We did a follow up test and the levels were down to 1.9. Doug and his helpers showed up promptly on the install day and worked until everything was done. I had commented to him how hard it was to crawl around in our crawl space since when the original system was installed the membrane was put over what felt like small pieces of cement, rock or petrified chucks of dirt. When we were in there crawling around we constantly got these pieces poking our hands or knees which was very painful. He remembered that and on the installation day he brought up a bunch of cardboard to line the floor before putting down the new membrane which was over the old one. He also suggested putting down old remnant pieces of carpet in the pathways for added comfort and moving ease. Genius!! What a tremendous difference this has made getting around in there now! The new system is working beautifully and the space is more functional. Doug was very conscientious and made sure everything was done correctly and at or above code. His helpers were hard-working and nice guys. I would definitely recommend Pikes Peak Radon and the work they do.

Was in the process of purchasing a new house, radon level was 12.32 pCi/L. Doug explained that the system he installs is quiet, has a long lasting motor and is energy efficient. As the buyer of the house (my choice of contractor), I referred Doug to the owner who then retained his services. Doug installed the new system, kept me informed throughout the entire process and even sent me pictures. He painted the system to match the house and ensured that everything was aesthetically pleasing. After the installation and post radon test, the radon level dropped to 1.39 pCi/L... EPA limit is 4 pCi/l. I did my final walk-through of the house yesterday and everything was sealed and had a neat/clean appearance. The motor gives off a humming noise... quiet, had to put my ear to the wall to hear the motor from inside the house. Overall I am very please with the work and would recommend Doug to anyone. In fact, my realtor was so impressed with his work, that he is going to recommend Doug to all of his clients. Thanks Doug!

I contacted Doug because I had seen such good reviews about him and his company on Angie's List. He called me very shortly and gave me a brief synopsis of his procedure. He suggested we get a radon test (either from him or from UCCS). He explained that by us doing a test ourselves, that we would save money instead of him doing it for us or having someone else do it for us. He also said that having a third party do the test is advisable. He informed us of the safe levels of radon in a home and if our levels exceeded that level that we would need a system. As it was, we DID need a system. He made an appointment to install it with his crew. One of the great things about Doug is that he goes above and beyond for you. He sealed our entire basement (where the walls meet the floor) and around all the pipes explaining that without the sealing that our system would definitely work well, but that our utility bill would dramatically increase. The system was installed by early afternoon, everything was cleaned up well and thoroughly and everything was explained to us that we needed to know. The system is outside the house and Doug was very concerned about having it match the color of our house. He said otherwise, it would be an eyesore. He had paint and will paint to match! I would definitely recommend Doug and Pike's Peak Radon to anyone who wants it done right! Doug was very professional, very informative and very personable. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Doug is very knowledgable, does a thorough job of explaining about radon, reasons behind mitigation and the two main methods of reducing radon indoors. Workmanship was fast and well performed down to little details such as running of wiring, placement of piping, finish painting. There was an issue with performance of the condensation diverter but he came out twice without complaining, made modifications, and got it to work satisfactorily. His system lowered the radon reading to 0.63 pCi/L in one test and 1.2 pCi/L in a followup test from an initial starting point of substantially higher than the commonly accepted threshhold. He seems to enjoy what he does as does the gentleman who works with him. His price was only slightly higher than another quote but quality proved to negate the small difference. He coordinates with both UCCS and the State for radon issues.

We had a radon test of 6.09 pCi/L when we had the house inspected prior to purchase, the Seller gave us a sum of money to cover the cost of having a mitigation system installed. We tested a second time a few months late with the two test vials averaging 5.5 pCi/L. The amount the Seller gave us didn?t cover the total but, in the end we wanted to have the system we wanted so it worked out. Our home inspector, Oscar San Luis, Omega Home Inspection, LLC recommended two Radon Mitigation Companies; we went with three bids, one of them being from his list, Pikes Peak Radon. We called Doug Bowen, the owner and had him come out as our last of the three bids. He came out the next day, did a full walk through, looked at the two radon tests that we had, and started to make his recommendations. First he went with the same area as the previous company, nice and easy, but in full view. He then decided that he would prefer to make the instillation on the other side of the house, a bit more challenging but it would not be in full view. He also showed us pictures of previous projects and examples of what we could do to make the radon mitigation system blend in with our home. We went with Pikes Peak Radon?s bid which was in the middle of the three bids for price but a few additional features; they installed a drain tile depressurization system attached to the perimeter drain via the window well at the rear of the home. The radon system exited below the window well and?married? up to an existing downspout, releasing above the roofline. System monitor was located in the bedroom closest to the fan. Here are the extras that the other two didn?t offer, the fan motor is hidden by a protective shroud and everything in sight was painted tan, very close to the color of our house. He was able to fit us in the next day and he and his assistant Eric cleaned the work area so well you never knew they were there. All for $1203.50. Just received my results from the post test, 1.30 pCi/L, nice. Thanks Doug.

Doug was the only bidder of the three mitigation companies I contacted that actually came to my house to evaluate the job before giving me a quote. I liked that. He took the time to explain how radon gets into your house and surveyed my property to determine the best plan of attach to deal with it. He provided references as well as photos of prior work and everything he did was top notch. The system he and his team installed was very well done and almost completely invisible due to the layout of my property. The radon reading in my basement prior to the mitigation system being installed was 8.9 pCi/L. Doug's system brought it down to 2.4 pCi/L, well below the 4 pCi/L recommended by the EPA. I was impressed with Doug's workmanship and high quality standards in the materials that he uses. I highly recommend Pikes Peak Radon and Doug Bowen.

I am currently renting a home and had a home owners inspection, since we are thinking of buying. We understood that when having your home inspected, you should have a Radon Test done. The housing inspector conducted a test in which Radon Gas was found in our basement area at a level of 25.6 pCi/l. The EPA recommended limit is 3.9 pCi/l. Once we told our landlord, he proceeded to call Pikes Peak Radon. Mr. Bowen from Pikes Peak Radon came to my home to access the situation. Mr. Bowen addressed the issue of placement for the Radon Mitigation System. He discussed what Radon Gas was, where it comes from and how his Radon Mitigation System works and would correct the problem. Mr. Bowen was very thorough in explaining everything that would need to be done. Mr. Bowen and his team showed up promptly. They immediately starting working. The worked diligently and were going to work through their lunch; however, I insisted they take a break. Pikes Peak Radon completed the Radon Mitigation System that day. Since the installation of the Radon Mitigation System, I have taken another Radon test. I received the results today with a reading of 0.45 pCi/l. Mr. Bowen and his team are passionate about what they do. They take pride and are confident in the Radon Migitation System they install. The results prove it. Again, the initial Radon Gas level 25.6 pCi/l the new Radon Gas level 0.45 pCi/l. Great Job, Pikes Peak Radon.
