Pikes Peak Radon
About us
Pikes Peak Radon is the premier radon mitigation company serving Colorado Springs and the entire Pikes Peak region. We are dedicated to helping Colorado Springs homeowners protect their homes and families from the dangers of radon gas. The EPA and the Surgeon General’s Office believe that radon causes as many as 20,000 deaths from lung cancer every year. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer, but Pikes Peak Radon can make your home safe from this dangerous substance. Radon is clear, odorless and tasteless, but we can find it. Radon can exist in your home and you would never know it was there without a special test. We can perform this radon test for you, or you can do the test yourself, so you can know if radon is a threat to your home or family. Pikes Peak Radon has installed hundreds of radon mitigation systems in Colorado homes.

Excellent execution.
Doug really knows what he's doing. His assistants also knew their job. They quickly completed the installation and finished to a high degree of quality. This includes the quality of the fan, venting pipes, painting, caulking and so forth.
Would highly recommend.
He provided a written quote and a guarantee that if the independent post-test results were not below the EPA threshold, that he would perform any further work at no cost. The price was competitive, and we agreed to move forward.
Doug and two workers arrived on time and performed the installation in about three hours. The system was tested and found to be working properly. All work was done expertly using high quality materials, and the site was left neat and clean. The system is virtually silent, despite the volume of air that the fan is moving.
A week following installation, I retested for interior radon levels. The test canister was submitted to the radon lab at UCCS, and I received the results via email the next day. The results tell the story: Pre-mitigation test results were 16.8 pCi/L, well above the EPA standard of 4 pCi/L. Post test measurement was 0.98 pCi/L.
Mr. Bowen has an excellent website (pikespeakradon.com). It contains representative pictures of his jobs and a list of radon mitigation do's and dont's. As I've around the neighborhood, I've noticed many installations that do not meet established standards for materials or vent location.
Bowen takes pride in educating customers about proper mitigation methods. I recommend Pikes Peak Radon without reservation.
As it was, we DID need a system. He made an appointment to install it with his crew. One of the great things about Doug is that he goes above and beyond for you. He sealed our entire basement (where the walls meet the floor) and around all the pipes explaining that without the sealing that our system would definitely work well, but that our utility bill would dramatically increase.
The system was installed by early afternoon, everything was cleaned up well and thoroughly and everything was explained to us that we needed to know. The system is outside the house and Doug was very concerned about having it match the color of our house. He said otherwise, it would be an eyesore. He had paint and will paint to match!
I would definitely recommend Doug and Pike's Peak Radon to anyone who wants it done right! Doug was very professional, very informative and very personable. It was a pleasure to work with him.
We had a radon test of 6.09 pCi/L when we had the house inspected prior to purchase, the Seller gave us a sum of money to cover the cost of having a mitigation system installed. We tested a second time a few months late with the two test vials averaging 5.5 pCi/L. The amount the Seller gave us didn?t cover the total but, in the end we wanted to have the system we wanted so it worked out.
Our home inspector, Oscar San Luis, Omega Home Inspection, LLC recommended two Radon Mitigation Companies; we went with three bids, one of them being from his list, Pikes Peak Radon. We called Doug Bowen, the owner and had him come out as our last of the three bids. He came out the next day, did a full walk through, looked at the two radon tests that we had, and started to make his recommendations. First he went with the same area as the previous company, nice and easy, but in full view. He then decided that he would prefer to make the instillation on the other side of the house, a bit more challenging but it would not be in full view. He also showed us pictures of previous projects and examples of what we could do to make the radon mitigation system blend in with our home. We went with Pikes Peak Radon?s bid which was in the middle of the three bids for price but a few additional features; they installed a drain tile depressurization system attached to the perimeter drain via the window well at the rear of the home. The radon system exited below the window well and?married? up to an existing downspout, releasing above the roofline. System monitor was located in the bedroom closest to the fan. Here are the extras that the other two didn?t offer, the fan motor is hidden by a protective shroud and everything in sight was painted tan, very close to the color of our house. He was able to fit us in the next day and he and his assistant Eric cleaned the work area so well you never knew they were there. All for $1203.50. Just received my results from the post test,
1.30 pCi/L, nice. Thanks Doug.
The radon reading in my basement prior to the mitigation system being installed was 8.9 pCi/L. Doug's system brought it down to 2.4 pCi/L, well below the 4 pCi/L recommended by the EPA. I was impressed with Doug's workmanship and high quality standards in the materials that he uses. I highly recommend Pikes Peak Radon and Doug Bowen.
Mr. Bowen and his team showed up promptly. They immediately starting working. The worked diligently and were going to work through their lunch; however, I insisted they take a break. Pikes Peak Radon completed the Radon Mitigation System that day. Since the installation of the Radon Mitigation System, I have taken another Radon test. I received the results today with a reading of 0.45 pCi/l.
Mr. Bowen and his team are passionate about what they do. They take pride and are confident in the Radon Migitation System they install. The results prove it. Again, the initial Radon Gas level 25.6 pCi/l the new Radon Gas level 0.45 pCi/l. Great Job, Pikes Peak Radon.
