They did a very thorough job of cleaning and checking the furnace and provided a full page report on the furnace. They also drained and checked the hot water heater. They also provide critiques and recommendations on how to keep your furnace and hot water heater operating at their peak.

I really appreciated how professional this company was from the beginning of this process to the end. The hand's on approach of management shows in how well everything went. The installers talked well of the people they work for and took their time to answer all my questions. They also protected all my property and had me sign off that I knew how to operate the equipment and set the thermostat and how clean it was after they left. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants quality work at a good price.

Overall it went well, they were prompt and parked in the street and whet right to getting us the information we were searching for, why we should go with higher efficiency product over standard. not only did they explain to us about the overall savings and quiet running of both the indoor and outdoor unit but they told me a little about the rebates that were available to us via the local utilities and also thru some local avenues and even in some cases federal tax credits.

The installation was difficult because of the way the original furnace was installed but the guys got the new hardware installed and running within a day and a half. It has worked beautifully through last winter and this summer! We are very pleased. They came out today to do the annual inspection and cleaning and as expected all was well. We have been very pleased with Furnace Physicians and their services. -Bob

Wanting to replace an aging furnace and possibly installing air conditioning I went into my local Home Depot to start the search process.

A Home Depot associate suggested I contact a preferred local contractor ? Furnace Physicians (of Colorado Springs, CO).

I reviewed the Better Business Bureau?s (BBB) A+ rating of Furnace Physicians and decided to give them a call.

I was very impressed with their quickness in a home visit and initial quote. As with most customers, I considered additional options and pricing. Furnace Physicians remained patient and didn?t force a sale.

I decided to have my old furnace removed and have a Trane XV95 furnace and a Trane XR13 air conditioner installed with all the associated parts, labor and permits.

Once I made a decision for the install Furnace Physicians was able to install within three days.

Jo and Thomas completed the install. They were both very professional. Electricians from Gaddie Electric of Colorado Springs completed the electrical wiring of the installed equipment. I was kept informed of the install process and the work area was cleaned up once the install was complete. They took my wife and me on a final walk-around of the completed work and showed us how to operate and care for the installed equipment.

We are very pleased with the entire process and recommend Furnace Physicians for your Colorado Springs, CO Furnace and Air Conditioning needs.

Had a basement flood that took out our furnace and water heater. Desperate, we called these guys and they were able to come out right away. They charged $5000 to install. (Should have gotten another bid.) After the installation, we had an inspector come out and find their work inadequate. One of the things the inspector failed us on was not have a CO detector in a ground floor bedroom. The inspector insisted that as a consumer, the furnace company should have included a $30 detection kit when they installed the appliances. Nevertheless, we failed the second inspection.
I called the Furnace Physician and told them we failed again. I have not received a phone call or email back to remedy the situation.
If you like poor customer service and overpriced service - you've found a winner!
Response from Furnace Doctors
"CO detectors are mandatory in Colorado Springs. The customer is advised and we offer to install of course at a charge. Homeowners then sign that they will install themselves should they decide that way. They forgot and the building inspector flunked for that. Then we did another inspection and actually were at the home and reminded her. She said it was taken care of. They still did not have their CO detector in place. Regional Building then assessed a trip charge of $50 which of course the customer did not want to pay but it was their responsibility."

Furnace Physicians is a great company.  I have used them in the past for the humidifier , new furnace, and new aircon.   I just think they are far too expensive, when compared to other HVAC companies in Colorado Springs.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"Homeowner said he was going to try to get the replacement unit himself and replace it as the labor was not under warranty any longer. We appreciate his business and gave him the contact info. We owe it to all our customers to charge a consistent dollar amount and are upfront with worse case estimated costs which may or may not have been accurate. Obviously if we had not had to make two trips as anticipated it would have been less. Most HVAC companies do charge the same as they have similar overhead expenses and liablities. We owe it to our customers to stay in business. We hope (member name removed) will call us back to take care of his equipment. We truely appreciate his patronage."

After installing the high efficiency furnace through Home Depot @ a cost of $6,000 which took 2 days and lots of red high temp silicone sealant (including the hallway walls and carpet) the TRANE unit continues to make noise i.e. clatters, squeals and groans between cycles. The installer not only trashed our carpet dumping debris directly on the carpet instead of laying down a tarp but treated our home like it was his personal workshop. I've never seen a contractor so unorganized and unskilled. The Tech not so much sealed the unit as he painted it with silicone. The owner (Ken) was @ our house several times during the installation mostly to run to Home Depot to get parts. Furnace Physicians originally ordered the wrong unit (up flow instead of down flow) and blamed it on the distributor. Originally the owner (Ken) stated he would work around our schedule i.e. Saturday install and gave us his cell # if we needed him for anything, The only time we saw him on a Saturday was when he was selling the product. I had to take several days off to accommodate his schedule. Furnace Physicians came out with the manufacture rep and spent less than 10 minutes @ the house (mostly discussing the contractor?s medical conditions) and the unit did not make the noise. Furnace Physicians came out 2 weeks later with a Home Depot rep and it DID make the noises. Furnace Physicians has not returned calls or made any efforts to correct the problems and stated the unit passed the manufacture and building inspections. The building inspector that came out never turned the unit on and only checked the installation against code. According to Furnace Physicians the units is to close to our bedroom and that?s why we hear the noises. Ken stated if it were in the basement we would not have these problems. We don't even have a basement. The reality is a NEW $6,000 dollar unit properly installed should not make these noises no matter where it's located. Additionally, 2 weeks after the unit was installed Furnace Physicians had to replace the TRANE electrostatic filter which burned out (due to either a faulty unit or incorrect installation is unknown). The office staff are extremely RUDE and lack even basic customer service skills. They we upset we were contacting Ken directly to resolve the issues. We are no longer trying to resolve the issues with Furnace Physicians after numerous attempts. We are now working with Home Depot to get a qualified contractor to correct the issues.  I would highly recommend you  NOT use this vendor!
Response from Furnace Doctors
"Furnace Physicians is befuddled by this review. This review is liable and flat-out dishonest. To comment on each lie and partial truth would cloud the issues. We are not only available we have been willing to make any corrections if need be to the installation of this under $4500 TRANE furnace. We installed it in January as a long-time service provider with the Home Depot. We have garnered awards for our voice of the customer ratings via the Home Depot. The Home Depot has denied his complaint and his desire for a brand new furnace. TRANE denied it as well when we passed along the request since homeowner has not allowed even a proper diagnosis. Even the BBB did not treat his similar review as a complaint. We have an A+ with the BBB and have had maintained this level of customer satisfaction for over 21 years. We have always gone to the home at the homeowner’s chosen date and time. It is true he has always called the owner directly after hours and on weekends, but still was assisted. When finally an undisclosed rattle was heard, he refused time to even open the cabinet. Refusing to allow a contractor access to equipment or the location of same is hardly the contractor’s fault. These pictures are also questionable as we sealed the preexisting hole in a tight furnace closet with high-temperature caulking available at any hardware store per code for fire stop and our painting over it was denied by the homeowner who signed off that he was satisfied with the condition of the home after installation. This is a new avenue and hopefully Angie’s List consumers will be able to see the inconsistencies and oddities with this review. What possible motive would any company have to go all the way to the home or answer phone calls after hours if they were not willing to take care of its customers?"

"A service was provided by Furnace Physicians where the homeowner/lanlord was absent. Furnace Physicians has every right to expect payment for the same. When we were asked to provide a thermostat change out before getting paid for the previous service, and questioned if we were on Angie's list, we declined further services as we had already been stood up at another address."

Everyone showed up on time.  Very professional and personable.  Training provided on how to use the new system.  Overall very pleased with the work.  The system looks very nice on the inside of the house.  The wires/tubes on the outside of the house are a bit of an eye sore but overall the work was neatly done.  Will most likely get some gutter or panels to cover up various tubes/wires.  Would definitely use this company again.  In fact, this is the 3rd time we've used this company but first time to write a review.

Positive experience from the day that the Owner came to assess our needs and provide an estimate, to the day of the installation and the last technician cleaning-up and departing. I made sure to insert myself into the mix of mechanical and electrical installation activities, and was welcomed by both the A/C installation team and electrician contractor to ask questions and make sure all concerns were addressed.

The overall Team, led by the Owner himself. was experienced and proficient. All logistical challenges were addressed professionally and quickly. And since my Wife and I bought this house less than a year ago, we are pleased that they did not tear it up (no damage to utility room, attic where they had to run an electrical conduit, or exterior of the house). We now have a new central A/C system that we are proud of, thanks to the team led by Ken Fowler (Owner). We also researched prices and feel we were given a fair deal striking the balance of system reliability and performance, and quality of the installation work.

The company, in my opinion, was deceptive and unprofessional.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"This was a case of customer not liking the message delivered that his furnace had no future. Furnace Physicians came to the home to do annual maintenance and in doing the test found carbon monoxide was being vented into the home. Carbon monoxide is unsafe at any amount. Part of our license requirement with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department is to 1) report carbon monoxide or other unsafe conditions and 2) report installed equipment done without a permit. The client called and complained about the carbon monoxide problem claiming another Company said there was less and somehow gathered we were trying to trick them into buying a new furnace. Although I explained to him that any carbon monoxide was unsafe and that the meter's reading was shown to his wife on the device, he claimed she didn't have her glasses on and couldn't have read it. (Obviously, our technician never knew that.) The homeowner told us he was going to report us on Angie's list and that he had contracted another Company to install a new furnace the day after our visit. We checked in two weeks, and no permit was pulled on the new furnace, again, because of our license and the safety of the homeowners, we reported no permit had been pulled. We would've loved to do business with this homeowner again and again --we installed a hot water heater in 2008 and had been doing the annual services since. But this was definitely a case of "shoot the messenger" because it is never good news when someone has to face unplanned expenditures."

It broke in the summer and we had them come and service it and we weren't totally impressed because they said it was broken and they needed to repair it and they insisted on charging us for the service call anyway. We were a little bit upset about that. We are not totally impressed with them and when they originally fixed it we never felt that they fitted it right. It kind of looked like it was kind of set up all kind of wacky on the furnace. He kind of admitted he never fitted one before and he was on the telephone how do you do this and how do you do that somebody had to give him help. We weren't too impressed with them. The guy was very pleasant and we kind of felt like they sent a beginner and nobody came and supervised him. We weren't very impressed with the follow up either they wouldn't replace it for free and it was expensive originally. When they did actually get it replaced the new one under warantee they did finally send someone around who was experienced. I think the guy that came was the supervisor. It wasn't a very good experience.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"It is easy to understand the frustration homeowners are facing when dealing with this relatively new technology. Unfortunately, steam humidifiers are still in infancy stages as a product. The technician we sent out on this call installs humidifiers and has been in our industry for well over fifteen years. Lee had to call the technical support people at Honeywell to warranty this three year old humidifer. I can well imagine the steps involved in this diagnosis sounded sophomoric to the homeowner. Although this installation was no longer under warranty, other than the initial diagnosis charge; no additional labor was charged for replacing the humdifier. The homeowner chose to pay for the $50 shipping to expedite the replacement."

I had just noticed that the "service required" light had come on with the Humidifier so the timing of the service seemed fortunate.

The regular cost of their Furnace service is $139 and for the Humidifier $35.  However, I was told since the service light was on they would have to charge me $65 to service the Humidifier to find out what was going on.

The service check was completed and I received a report showing that the Furnace was operating correctly.  The issue with the Humidifier was a malfunctioning water level sensor and since the until was still under warranty they would be able to order the part for me.  However, the labor charge to install the replacement part would be $185.

This means that the humidifier that they sold me 2 years ago for $500 was going to have $250 in service charges ($65 already spent plus an additional $185 to replace a broken part).

The next business day I called the office to ask to speak to a manager and get some explanation of why this huge service charge cost would occur for a unit under warranty.  I called at 8:30 and asked for a manager to call me back.  I called again at 10:30 to ask why I hadn't been contacted and was put on hold and then hung up on.  I called again at 11:30 and told them to cancel all further work and never contact me again.

Their service seems professional and complete.  But wildly overpriced.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"I am very sorry that the homeowner was inconvenienced by his experience and mostly concerned about his experience trying to call our office afterwards. I am quite sure had we been able to follow-up with him, we may have been able to clarify some issues of concern. Annual service of a humidifier is $65. I have no idea where the $35 amount came from but that amount is not on the invoice provided or ever has been a price we represent. Humidifiers should be serviced yearly. This is another steam humidifier by Honeywell which is a relatively new product on the market. The labor is no longer under warranty since installed in May of 2009 and it would be proper to charge for any repairs even if the part were under warranty. We sell a Prescribed Savings Plan and for $406 we service furnace PLUS air conditioning units TWO times a year, water heater and humidifier once a year, priority placement in emergency situations, and discounts on needed repairs such as a faulty humidifier. We very much push for after the installation maintenance as this saves our customers from breakdowns. Protecting the investment of costly mechanical equipment and customer service is our goal. We are in business to do what we do best; servicing the needs of the customer by way of protecting their investment. Since this is the first I have heard of this situation by reading this on Angie's list, I will personally contact the owner regarding the above."

They came out to see why my furnace wouldn't turn on. The technician was here maybe 15 minutes and couldn't figure out why it hadn't turned on. The furnace finally came on by itself, but no one knew why. Even though he wasn't responsible for servicing the furnace, he charged me $100. I thought that was pretty expensive for a service call.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"THIS SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED IN APRIL OF 2008 ON A SATURDAY, WHICH IS AN AFTER HOURS CALL. WE DID NOT KNOW OF ANY DISATIFACTION FROM CUSTOMER AND WERE GIVEN NO OPPERTUNITY TO RESOLVE. WE COULD NOT DUPLICATE ANY PROBLEMS AND IN FACT SPENT 30 MINUTES TRYING TO DUPLICATE IT. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. WE CHECKED A NUMBER OF PARTS TO BE SURE THEY WERE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD PRIOR TO LEAVING. CUSTOMER DID NOT CALL TO SAY IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS RATING IS THE FIRST WE HEARD OF ANY DISACTISFACTION. WHEN WE CALLED CUSTOMER UPON SEEING THIS RATING, WE ASKED IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FURNACE AND SHE SAID NO, AND SHE REFUSED TO SPEAK WITH US BEYOND THAT."
