Wanting to replace an aging furnace and possibly installing air conditioning I went into my local Home Depot to start the search process.
A Home Depot associate suggested I contact a preferred local contractor ? Furnace Physicians (of Colorado Springs, CO).
I reviewed the Better Business Bureau?s (BBB) A+ rating of Furnace Physicians and decided to give them a call.
I was very impressed with their quickness in a home visit and initial quote. As with most customers, I considered additional options and pricing. Furnace Physicians remained patient and didn?t force a sale.
I decided to have my old furnace removed and have a Trane XV95 furnace and a Trane XR13 air conditioner installed with all the associated parts, labor and permits.
Once I made a decision for the install Furnace Physicians was able to install within three days.
Jo and Thomas completed the install. They were both very professional. Electricians from Gaddie Electric of Colorado Springs completed the electrical wiring of the installed equipment. I was kept informed of the install process and the work area was cleaned up once the install was complete. They took my wife and me on a final walk-around of the completed work and showed us how to operate and care for the installed equipment.
We are very pleased with the entire process and recommend Furnace Physicians for your Colorado Springs, CO Furnace and Air Conditioning needs.
I called the Furnace Physician and told them we failed again. I have not received a phone call or email back to remedy the situation.
If you like poor customer service and overpriced service - you've found a winner!
"CO detectors are mandatory in Colorado Springs. The customer is advised and we offer to install of course at a charge. Homeowners then sign that they will install themselves should they decide that way. They forgot and the building inspector flunked for that. Then we did another inspection and actually were at the home and reminded her. She said it was taken care of. They still did not have their CO detector in place. Regional Building then assessed a trip charge of $50 which of course the customer did not want to pay but it was their responsibility."
"Homeowner said he was going to try to get the replacement unit himself and replace it as the labor was not under warranty any longer. We appreciate his business and gave him the contact info. We owe it to all our customers to charge a consistent dollar amount and are upfront with worse case estimated costs which may or may not have been accurate. Obviously if we had not had to make two trips as anticipated it would have been less. Most HVAC companies do charge the same as they have similar overhead expenses and liablities. We owe it to our customers to stay in business. We hope (member name removed) will call us back to take care of his equipment. We truely appreciate his patronage."
"Furnace Physicians is befuddled by this review. This review is liable and flat-out dishonest. To comment on each lie and partial truth would cloud the issues. We are not only available we have been willing to make any corrections if need be to the installation of this under $4500 TRANE furnace. We installed it in January as a long-time service provider with the Home Depot. We have garnered awards for our voice of the customer ratings via the Home Depot. The Home Depot has denied his complaint and his desire for a brand new furnace. TRANE denied it as well when we passed along the request since homeowner has not allowed even a proper diagnosis. Even the BBB did not treat his similar review as a complaint. We have an A+ with the BBB and have had maintained this level of customer satisfaction for over 21 years. We have always gone to the home at the homeowner’s chosen date and time. It is true he has always called the owner directly after hours and on weekends, but still was assisted. When finally an undisclosed rattle was heard, he refused time to even open the cabinet. Refusing to allow a contractor access to equipment or the location of same is hardly the contractor’s fault. These pictures are also questionable as we sealed the preexisting hole in a tight furnace closet with high-temperature caulking available at any hardware store per code for fire stop and our painting over it was denied by the homeowner who signed off that he was satisfied with the condition of the home after installation. This is a new avenue and hopefully Angie’s List consumers will be able to see the inconsistencies and oddities with this review. What possible motive would any company have to go all the way to the home or answer phone calls after hours if they were not willing to take care of its customers?"
"A service was provided by Furnace Physicians where the homeowner/lanlord was absent. Furnace Physicians has every right to expect payment for the same. When we were asked to provide a thermostat change out before getting paid for the previous service, and questioned if we were on Angie's list, we declined further services as we had already been stood up at another address."
The overall Team, led by the Owner himself. was experienced and proficient. All logistical challenges were addressed professionally and quickly. And since my Wife and I bought this house less than a year ago, we are pleased that they did not tear it up (no damage to utility room, attic where they had to run an electrical conduit, or exterior of the house). We now have a new central A/C system that we are proud of, thanks to the team led by Ken Fowler (Owner). We also researched prices and feel we were given a fair deal striking the balance of system reliability and performance, and quality of the installation work.
"Thank you so much for your positive response. Please know Furnace Physicians remains dedicated to supporting your patronage."
"This was a case of customer not liking the message delivered that his furnace had no future. Furnace Physicians came to the home to do annual maintenance and in doing the test found carbon monoxide was being vented into the home. Carbon monoxide is unsafe at any amount. Part of our license requirement with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department is to 1) report carbon monoxide or other unsafe conditions and 2) report installed equipment done without a permit. The client called and complained about the carbon monoxide problem claiming another Company said there was less and somehow gathered we were trying to trick them into buying a new furnace. Although I explained to him that any carbon monoxide was unsafe and that the meter's reading was shown to his wife on the device, he claimed she didn't have her glasses on and couldn't have read it. (Obviously, our technician never knew that.) The homeowner told us he was going to report us on Angie's list and that he had contracted another Company to install a new furnace the day after our visit. We checked in two weeks, and no permit was pulled on the new furnace, again, because of our license and the safety of the homeowners, we reported no permit had been pulled. We would've loved to do business with this homeowner again and again --we installed a hot water heater in 2008 and had been doing the annual services since. But this was definitely a case of "shoot the messenger" because it is never good news when someone has to face unplanned expenditures."
"It is easy to understand the frustration homeowners are facing when dealing with this relatively new technology. Unfortunately, steam humidifiers are still in infancy stages as a product. The technician we sent out on this call installs humidifiers and has been in our industry for well over fifteen years. Lee had to call the technical support people at Honeywell to warranty this three year old humidifer. I can well imagine the steps involved in this diagnosis sounded sophomoric to the homeowner. Although this installation was no longer under warranty, other than the initial diagnosis charge; no additional labor was charged for replacing the humdifier. The homeowner chose to pay for the $50 shipping to expedite the replacement."
The regular cost of their Furnace service is $139 and for the Humidifier $35. However, I was told since the service light was on they would have to charge me $65 to service the Humidifier to find out what was going on.
The service check was completed and I received a report showing that the Furnace was operating correctly. The issue with the Humidifier was a malfunctioning water level sensor and since the until was still under warranty they would be able to order the part for me. However, the labor charge to install the replacement part would be $185.
This means that the humidifier that they sold me 2 years ago for $500 was going to have $250 in service charges ($65 already spent plus an additional $185 to replace a broken part).
The next business day I called the office to ask to speak to a manager and get some explanation of why this huge service charge cost would occur for a unit under warranty. I called at 8:30 and asked for a manager to call me back. I called again at 10:30 to ask why I hadn't been contacted and was put on hold and then hung up on. I called again at 11:30 and told them to cancel all further work and never contact me again.
Their service seems professional and complete. But wildly overpriced.
"I am very sorry that the homeowner was inconvenienced by his experience and mostly concerned about his experience trying to call our office afterwards. I am quite sure had we been able to follow-up with him, we may have been able to clarify some issues of concern. Annual service of a humidifier is $65. I have no idea where the $35 amount came from but that amount is not on the invoice provided or ever has been a price we represent. Humidifiers should be serviced yearly. This is another steam humidifier by Honeywell which is a relatively new product on the market. The labor is no longer under warranty since installed in May of 2009 and it would be proper to charge for any repairs even if the part were under warranty. We sell a Prescribed Savings Plan and for $406 we service furnace PLUS air conditioning units TWO times a year, water heater and humidifier once a year, priority placement in emergency situations, and discounts on needed repairs such as a faulty humidifier. We very much push for after the installation maintenance as this saves our customers from breakdowns. Protecting the investment of costly mechanical equipment and customer service is our goal. We are in business to do what we do best; servicing the needs of the customer by way of protecting their investment. Since this is the first I have heard of this situation by reading this on Angie's list, I will personally contact the owner regarding the above."
"I have no records after a repair conducted in May of 2008 at this address. And that was for $189."
"THIS SERVICE WAS CONDUCTED IN APRIL OF 2008 ON A SATURDAY, WHICH IS AN AFTER HOURS CALL. WE DID NOT KNOW OF ANY DISATIFACTION FROM CUSTOMER AND WERE GIVEN NO OPPERTUNITY TO RESOLVE. WE COULD NOT DUPLICATE ANY PROBLEMS AND IN FACT SPENT 30 MINUTES TRYING TO DUPLICATE IT. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. WE CHECKED A NUMBER OF PARTS TO BE SURE THEY WERE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD PRIOR TO LEAVING. CUSTOMER DID NOT CALL TO SAY IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS RATING IS THE FIRST WE HEARD OF ANY DISACTISFACTION. WHEN WE CALLED CUSTOMER UPON SEEING THIS RATING, WE ASKED IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FURNACE AND SHE SAID NO, AND SHE REFUSED TO SPEAK WITH US BEYOND THAT."
