Advantage Heating And Cooling

December 4th we had Julio (from Advantage) come out to service our boiler. Had some banging noise we were concerned about. He came in with no testing equipment whatsoever and started looking at our boiler. He adjusted the water pressure up to 24#, dialed down the max heat to 160, changed the pump speed to medium, and closed a valve that does some kind of recirculation (?). Two days later we had all kinds of problems. Boiler was short cycling, banging and not heating the house. I called Julio's personal cell and he offered to come back and fix everything "on the side". He said it was way cheaper to go through him than the company. I found this super odd considering he left the boiler in worse shape than when he arrived, and we payed Advantage Heating for that service. We called another company to look at the boiler. This guy brought in all kinds of testing apparatus. He had to change the max temp setting, should never be below 200, per manufacturer specs, re-circ thing(?) should be open, and adjusting water pressure to 18#, pressure in the tank was way too high. Checked the gas pressure and that was too high as well. I would have thought Julio would have checked all these things too, maybe you get those things "on the side." After much contemplation and paying someone to fix Julio's "service" I called Ben the owner of Advantage Heating. He said he would make some inquiries and get back with me the next day, didn't happen. I called back and he said he'd get back to me in two days, didn't happen. Called today, he offered a cleaning service next year for free. I told him I was disappointed with him blowing me off twice and he said that frankly they hear "all kinds of stories" and didn't expect me to call back. He also said that Julio had a different story than mine (no sh#t, you don't say?). He said he'd mail a check for my refund. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll update if it happens. Everything went well and as expected

We got quotes from 4 venders (prior to joining Angies List). Ben from Advantage Heating and Cooling Arrived promptly at our scheduled time. He took the time to evaluate our situation and listen to our needs. He was courteous and professional. Our situation was unique in that we have an indoor pool room that had a 30 year old non working furnace with one vent trunk line with only 2 vents. We needed to add more vents. Of all the options presented by the 4 contracters, Advantage heating had the best design by far without ugly trunk lines runing throught the room.That furnace needed a new gas line as well. His team ran the new gas lines without having to tear up our landscape. While he was doing the work, we opted to replace the main furnace at the same time. He gave us a great price. He correctly sized our furnace which allowed us to downsize slightly. He installed a DC motor furnace which is more energy efficient. He installed a smart thermostat and a whole house humidifier. Our house now has more even temperature between the upper and lower level. The furnace is much quieter than our old one and we don't experience temperature swings like we used to.- Overall, we really got our money's worth. Ben and his team did an amazing job.
