Randy is well-placed working with a Home Warranty company because neither of them care about the customer or the quality of work. Randy came out in May and diagnosed our unit as having a crack in the compressor and no freon. He priced out replacing the compressor for our warranty company who rejected our claim twice (no surprise). After a painful process, they finally approved Randy to repair our compressor by patching the crack, a repair that Randy says is often unsuccessful. It took Randy many days to respond to our calls, and as the temperatures rose, we were more and more eager to get him out here. He scheduled a time to come out, and then called me before the appointment to tell me how much he was going to charge me. Puzzled, I said, "Well, Randy, why don't you come out and see if you can fix this and see how much freon we need before you dictate a price. We can talk price later." And he said, "Well, I don't want to talk about it later?and I"m not coming if you're not gonna pay me." My husband talked him off the cliff---Randy frequently gets confused and turned around about things, requiring lots and lots of patience, which frankly, I ran out of during this month-long process. Randy came out, patched the compressor, and charged the freon. As the system ran, we noticed that the line was freezing. He said that it was because the airflow was poor and there was nothing he could do about it and that we had to check with a ventilation specialist. We paid him for the freon and labor (warranty company covered the parts) and he left, with our system limping. The next day, I called Quality West Heating and A/C, and Rob came out and looked at our entire system before diagnosing that there was TOO MUCH FREON in our system, which was causing the line to freeze and diminishing cold air output. He drained almost 5 pounds of freon from our system! When he drastically reduced the freon in the system, the line stopped freezing and the A/C works fine! Randy overfilled our system by A LOT (Rob was shocked at how much freon was pushed into the system) and charged us for it, and then left knowing our system wasn't working! The only positive thing I'll say is that for now, the compressor patch seems to be holding.
Description of Work: Randy works with our Home Warranty company (who is also getting a negative review on this site). Randy was contracted to fix our A/C unit, which wasn't cooling. He fixed the crack in the compressor line and charged our unit with freon.
