They came right away and the work was good, but the price was too high for what they did. The door works perfectly now. They came within half hour and they are very reliable, but I won't use them again because of the price. I felt like they were taking advantage of the financial situation.
Description of Work: California Sliding Door Repair fixed the sliding door in my house. There are sliding things under the door that were plastic but they broke, so they replaced them with metal.

One of the very top service experiences i've had. It's the second time i've used them. They came out about a year or so ago and repaired my outdoor sliding glass door, good experience. I called about this new problem on a Friday and was given an appointment for Monday at a time that worked well for me. Terry and Gino went right to work. The problem was not straightforward. Different things were tried and the level of diffculty seemed to increase at each step. i began to worry it couldn't be fixed or that it would turn into something really big and expensive. But Terry kept trying new ideas until it was fixed. The first time i called Terry, about the other matter, he gave me some suggestions about how i could fix it myself, or how i could bring the part to him instead of him coming out which would cost me less. This time, i got the clear message that it would make Terry happy to charge me less. He actually seemed happy to give me a painless price for the work. There are some contractors who are like that and he is one. The quality of the work seems to be the most important thing, there seemed to be an enjoyment of solving the puzzle and of the challenge of the problem. I'm really glad to have found this company.
Description of Work: I had a two panel sliding closet door with mirrors, bit thing. One of the panels seemed to be off the track, but i couldn't get it back on even though it looked like it was going on. It was hard to push for this reason, i mean, broken, it wasn't meant to be pushed in that condition. Terry and Gino came out fixed door so that it works better than new now.

Speedy response to my call to repair 3 sliding closet doors. The type of door could not be repaired, but they gave a very reasonable bid to replace the doors. Arrived at scheduled time to replace the doors, Work was done quickly and the old doors were removed. Very happy to have functioning closet doors again. Would definitely use again for sliding door repair.

Within 20 minutes they had the door working like new. Terry Faber came over on a Sunday and looked at my house and diagnosed it. I will definitely be doing business with them again. I am going to have them come back to fix 1 more giant sliding door that covers the majority of the back of my house . Great workmanship and very polite. He stocks all of the parts for any door you could imagine. They were on time, didn't try to sell anything extra.

Everything went well. No complaints.
Description of Work: We could not open or close the sliding glass door which leads from our dining room to the back yard. I called California Sliding Door Repair and requested them to come fix the door today. Mr. Terry Faber, owner of Califonir Sliding Door Repair, came within one hour with his assistant. The broken plastic rollers at the bottom of the door were removed and replaced with metal rollers and a new lock was installed. We paid California Sliding Door Repair $200.00 for all the repairs and the door never worked this well in all the years we have lived in the house.

They came promptly at time agreed upon. Took both a small and a large glass sliding door off, replaced the wheels, and adjusted the framing. They had been very difficult to open for me. They now work smoothly. Unfortunately the large door didn't fit squarely so there is a gap where it closes and I will have to figure out how to close that snall section. I had thought they also did screen doors, but they did recommend someone else for that screen replacement.

Sliding glass door had suddenly come off its track and could hardly be moved. I found California Sliding Door Repair on Angie's List and called them. Terry gave me an appointment within two days of my call, he and his assistant showed up on time. I had called this company two or three years ago about repairing a broken lock, and at that time, Terry told me it would cost a lot less if i came to him and bought the lock and installed it myself, it was a simple replacement, but i never did it because i was not sure whether i wanted to replace the whole door, and for a year and a half, i was living somewhere else. Now, when i called last week about not being able to move the door without extreme strain using my whole body, Terry, like before, told me what he thought the problem was (door came off its track) and told me i could try to lift it and get it back on myself. The message comes across that he will try to save the customer money by advising them about DIY options. I was pretty sure i couldn't do it, the door is really big and heavy and i'm not big or heavy, so i made the appointment for Terry to come out. he said he would replace the rollers and my broken lock and that it would work great after that. He gave me a price over the phone of $250. When they came on Saturday, two days later, they found that it's apparently the original door on a 1956 house and the top part of the house above the door had 'settled' some, crowding the door, so that it was not possible to simply replace the rollers without a major repair of one or two thousand dollars or more (removing the glass). He said they could get it working again by lubricating it, get it back on the track and replace the broken lock. They did that quickly and when they were done, it was very easy to slide the door, minimal effort, and it was the first time in years that i've had a lock on it. For years, instead of a lock, i had a two by two post preventing the door from opening, and also a nail through the frame. Terry said it's a good thing he has a collection of old locks/handles to fit these old doors because they are no longer manufactured, and he was able to find one that fit in his truck, It's very nice, i'm super happy with it and having a regular lock on the door again. It's way more convenient. The charge was $125.

California Sliding Door Repair was recommended to by another company, Windows 'n' Things, which was recommended to me by a contractor highly rated on Angie's List, Nathan Moses of Pristine Construction, who kindly suggested that a sliding door specialist was a better choice than a contractor for my repair (leak around the side of a sliding glass door). Owner Terry Faber's daughter Sheila answered the phone, and she was one of the most personable and caring people I've had the pleasure speaking with by phone in the home repair business. She arranged for Terry and one of his workers to come to my house from a job they'd just finished, the same day I called, and they gave me a very reasonable quote on the spot. I decided to go with another company (which, like CSDR is highly rated on Angie's List) because it would be able to repair both the outer caulking and the inner paint sanding and touch-up. When I called to tell them I was going with another company and why, they were totally kind and understanding about it.
Description of Work: I received a quote on my repair.

From start to finish they where professional. Easy to schedule an appointment with rapid response and availability. Arrived punctually. Polite, quick, and clean workmanship. BONUS: Gave us screen door measurements and recommended a reputable company. Which saves me the time and hassle of researching. $200 + half an hour of time = good working door. Thanks to this company and there knowledgeable friendly people.
Description of Work: Door was completely frozen in place and had not been opened in several months. Took door off. Removed, cleaned, and adjusted aluminum strips that framed door holding the glass in place. Also added an L-bracket at bottom of door to strengthen. Cleaned and adjusted bottom rolling track. Fixed broken lock. Added weather stripping. Added rubber bumper at back of door for smooth stopping. The door now works fabulously. Closes tightly, locks, and rolls smoothly . All work done in under a half an hour.

Wonderful overall experience beginning with Sheila on the phone. I was concerned that my living in Santa Monica might prove problematic but they came out the next day -- on time -- professional and genial and they didn't make fun of the just moved chaos of my apartment. I actually even asked them about other "new home" issues and was very disappointed that those were not within their area of expertise. Would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I had a glass sliding patio door that was not opening/closing/locking properly and had finally been totally stuck in a locked position. Terry and Charlie arrived promptly as arranged, got right to work. They took off the broken lock, replaced the ancient, cracked rollers, installed a new lock and even put my sliding screen door back on track -- all with a minimum of fuss.

Excellent. They called to say they would be outside of their estimated time of arrival by 20 minutes, which was appreciated and professional. When they arrived, they repaired the door within 20 minutes. It's like having a new sliding door! Some may think the cost is a little high, but their work is exceptional. I would definitely use them again.

We have a house over 50 years old and the sliding door is probably an original fixture. For over 20 years we've managed with oiling the track and struggling with opening and closing the door with great difficulty. I fully expected that Terry would tell us that the door was beyond repair. They arrived early. He took one look at it and quickly went to work. He actually told us that the aluminum construction made the door easier to repair than the newer vinyl doors. He replaced the rollers and adjusted the height. His daughter (his partner) cleaned out all the years of gunk from the tracks and they remounted the door. He also did some adjustments to the latch that was a bit faulty and made that more secure. The door now rolls open and shut easily. It's never worked so well in over 20 years.

Our ancient old slider was so stuck you had to lift it up by the handle and yank on it to get it to move. When I called California Sliding Door Repair they told me they would fix it so that I could slide it with one finger. I was skeptical to say the least, but within half an hour of their arrival the door was doing just that. Now I have to be careful not to pull on it too hard! They're coming back with a new custom screen on Thursday. They showed me a sample of the screen. It's very heavy duty and extremely well constructed. I couldn't be more pleased!

Absolutely first-rate service. They arrived exactly on time and repaired a broken/stuck patio door with parts superior to the original. Above and beyond: they resplined a section of the screen that the cat had pressed out of place, and cleaned the screen, just because one had a brief bit of down-time during repair.

My pocket door would no longer move. Other contractors said they'd have to cut into the drywall to get to the door tracks. Then we'd have to repair the wall and paint it. California Sliding Door has a one-of-a-kind tool that enabled them to remove and replace the tracks through the door slot, without touching the wall. Fantastic! They also repaired the tracks on a patio door and window. They now slide beautifully. Great guys to work with, too.

He was not able to repair it because the door was so old. He tried to fix it but was unable to so he didn't even charge me. He said that they didn't even make the hardware any longer.
