I contacted this company based on Angie's reviews and I was very pleased with the outcome. Jill was very professional and very easy to talk to. She was able to see the project from my point of view and then was able to offer a very constructive solution based on the existing floor plan. I would definitely use her services again!

She came to the house twice, one hour each time. She provided many ideas and was very tactful about changing things such as an out-of-date shelving unit. She pushed me to define what I wanted and I used most of her ideas and am very happy with the results.

Great! Jill was easy to talk to and offered a great set of suggestions to us right away. Has a very clear picture of general remodeling guidelines that we needed to hear. Very well-organized and clear in her description of how things would evolve going forward. Appears to have a good background in construction as well as design, which is hard to find.

Jill was fantastic, giving us some detailed plans, even quashing (gently I may add) some of my grand plans which were going to be extremely expensive. She is gave us practical options which we can do in stages as our budget allows. Our house is pretty ugly, Jill managed to come up with a design which brings the house out of the 1960's and dare I say it a little bit modern/trendy! We can't wait to get everything done. She also had some great ideas for our kitchen which we'd never have thought of ourselves. It's a pretty impressive design on a shoestring budget - again a design we can do in stages (normal kitchen remodel phase 1, phase two adding a ladder and upper more upper cabinets) She provided suggestions on where to source the materials and some contractors she good recommend to quote (which is nice as our neighbors recommendations all flaked) As soon as we've completed all the work I'll post some picture - so far all I have is the plans which don't do the design justice.

Jill has been amazing. When I first contacted her in August of this year my family had just moved to our first condo and we knew that we wanted to make changes but had no idea where to start. Jill was patient and never made me feel like I was asking silly questions (and I'm sure I asked a few doozies - again, I'm new at this). Our goal was to make our home more comfortable and stay within a rather restrictive budget, and to that end, Jill has been invaluable. She has helped us keep our expectations realistic, reigning us in whenever we were trying to accomplish the impossible, and is always suggesting different ways to save money without sacrificing quality. In addition to our bathroom remodel, she has fielded questions and found solutions for a possible future kitchen remodel, has found ways for us to work around a load bearing wall that is inconveniently placed, and has designed a storage solution in the master bedroom that is in keeping with the feel and style of our home (we live in a 100+ year old Victorian). I really appreciated the 2 hour design consultation coupon that she offers as it gave us an opportunity to meet with her and discuss our plans without committing to anything long term or breaking the bank. Since this is our first venture into home remodelling, that kind of flexibility mattered to us. Needless to say, after the consultation we were hooked, and we don't regret our decision. I am constantly contacting her any time I have a new question, and though she is very busy, she always gets back to me in a reasonable amount of time. I would highly recommend Jill to anyone who is planning a remodel, and would especially recommend her to first timers. I called several contractors and architects prior to choosing to work with Jill, and I am so happy that I found her on Angie's List; I don't think I would have felt this comfortable working with anyone else.

I've never gone through a major remodel and we are just beginning to plan out our kitchen / bath remodel. Before moving forward with identifying and selecting a contractor for the actual work, I needed to speak with someone about how to go about the process - some "pre-work" to get me started. Jill is knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information. She has some really good design ideas. Her rates are reasonable (she does charge for travel from the East Bay to San Francisco) and she was very upfront about what she can and can not do. I feel more grounded after speaking with her.

We got some good recommendations for interior color choices. We decided to move, so we ended up not using the advice and just painted a neutral color instead of the more interesting choices we got - but it was a useful exercise

I had a big deal for three hours of design work. It went fine. I thought that she had some good ideas. She was professional. She was punctual, she listened to my requests, my needs. She listened. She was fine. She was good at that. She listened and worked with my ideas.

She was enthusiastic, on time, and full of ideas. Her job it to give you ideas and she gave good ideas on how to upgrade. She was impressive.

Jill arrived on time. She had done her homework and came with floor samples. She guided us to choices that we wouldn't have made on our own, and the kitchen looks great. I was able to e-mail her later for advice on an issue that came up.

Tangerine Design came out on time on mutual convenience, ours and hers. She came out and explained very carefully that she was a designer, not an architect or anything else, but that she had a great deal of experience in designing space and making suggestions for things like electric, the locations of windows and things like that. Her family were contractors, so she had grown up in that environment and knew second hand a lot about that. She was very friendly and nice. She brought a lot of materials to show us. She talked to us extensively and listened to us well, about what we wanted and what we were considering. She told us what our options were. We were really fuzzy about how much money we wanted to spend, because we had no idea how much things cost. On that day, she spent a good hour or more, taking very careful measurements of the existing bathrooms and looking at our exterior and interior for where plumbing and existing facilities were. Then she talked to us once again about anything that had occurred to us after our conversation. She told us she would return in about a week with architecture drawings and talk to us about possibilities, which she did. She did have two drawings, both of which we thought were very good. They accommodated everything that we had talked about and included a small bump out of the wall, in one option. She said she wasn't personally able to price these, because it would depend on who did the work and finishes and all that sort of thing. She did bring us information about possible contractors and other things to help us get started. She was very responsive to phone calls and very professional. She was very helpful and forthcoming. She was very pleasant to work with and we really appreciated that she took the time to do exact measurements. She measured to the inch. One of her drawings was the one we ended up using when we eventually found our contractor. We had gotten designs from an architectural firm and from a contractor who is known for doing designs. We actually ended up using her design. We were very pleased with her service. She returned our deposit promptly, when we requested it.

I am in the planning stages of kitchen remodel and she provided great practical advice on stages of planning, product sources, budget and next steps. She was very clear and professional on next steps of design services and services she could/could not provide. This was a great first step - particularly if you have never done a remodel and have no idea where to start! I will definitely contact Jill again.

She was always on time. She delivered exactly as promised. She took measurements, designed plans sent them to me in a timely manner. She was willing to pull permits. She took an initial deposit, and that deposit was returned in a timely manner as well. The experience was great. I would definitely use this service again.

I am not looking to do immediate work, but needed someone to help generate possible ideas. She was very helpful with her advice, and gave me so many new ideas for future changes that I could never have come up with on my own.

Her taste was completely different than mine, so I didn't implement any of her suggestions. Sorry, just being honest.

Jill and I spoke on the phone about the different services she offered and how we might structure our first meeting. We decided on a basic consultation that could extend out to the "Angie's List Special" that she had at the time if she felt should could get a good understanding on our thoughts and find some synergy with our house and the space we wanted to discuss. We felt that it was a good fit fairly quickly, liked her personality, energy and ideas. She was very clear in explaining the process that we would follow if we moved forward with a full design all the way through construction. We got back the designs in a few days using the remaining time that we had and were very pleased with what we saw. We have a few other projects going on right now, but plan to get back with Jill to move forward with a formal design of our new kitchen. I would recommend her based on this experience thus far and feel that you will get a lot regardless of using a special package as we did, or paying her regular rate. The only thing that I would mention that Jill was very up front about is that she is not a licensed architect. But she has an architect in her network that she works with for anything that might require that type of work. For us, doing a complete remodel of our kitchen most likely doesn't require this, so it's not an issue.

I contacted Jill through Angie's List, and received a response within a day. Jill clarified her areas of expertise, and described how she could help with our needs. We agreed to move forward with an initial consultation and scheduled a day to meet. Jill arrived as expected and we spent a pleasant couple of hours brainstorming decorating ideas. While some of our areas of interest were outside of Jill's main residential design expertise, she provided lots of ideas and helped us get our plan together which was precisely the reason we asked for her help.

I contacted Jill at Tangerine Design to give me some help in conceptualizing a new kitchen, remodeling my master bathroom and upgrading the look of my front stairs. I took advantage of the Angie's List special. Jill arrived most promptly, introduced herself and went right to work. She gave me great ideas on remodeling my small master bath and while she was at it gave me tips on my master bedroom, upstairs kitchen and dining area. Jill is full of ideas and knows her stuff, from city codes to layout and design. She gave recommendations on moving walls, installing much needed storage spaces, tile, layout and design. She then went into my garage, where I wanted to build the kitchen and gave me more great ideas, like where to build, where to put doors, an entryway, appliances and walls. She measured and referenced her handy code book to keep me lawful. Next we went outside to my concrete stairway, where she gave me ideas on how to improve the look of my concrete stairway. All of this was done in two hours and I still have one hour left for further consultation. I found Jill to be friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful in guiding me on my projects. After the meeting Jill sent me information on utilizing her service in the future as well as helpful links and web sites for my project. I would highly recommend the services of Tangerine Design and look forward to working with Jill again.

Jill came to our house on time, fully prepared with brochures, samples of surface and flooring material, paint swatches, and everything else she'd need. The interview lasted the full time, and I couldn't be happier with the services provided. I got exactly what I needed in terms of guidance and new ideas, without any kind of hard sell for other services. For me, this is the kind of initial visit that actually will lead to more business. I'd be happy to recommend Jill to any Angie's List user.
